Chapter 1011 - 1011 997 Water Dragon
Chapter 1011: Chapter 997: Water Dragon Chapter 1011: Chapter 997: Water Dragon Shao Hengjiang stood at the bow, with Wan Liyun by his side.
The disciples behind them came back to report, “They can’t get away now.”
“Good,” Shao Hengjiang nodded slightly.
Wan Liyun said, “As long as we sink at least one ship, we can settle things with Hai Jingtian, and he won’t be able to blame us.”
“The Dragonlight won’t turn back, will it?” Shao Hengjiang had to be wary of Nangong Yao. The crew aboard the Azure Sky were indeed just a bunch of insignificant lackeys, not difficult to deal with, but his Eldest Senior Brother Nangong Yao was still quite capable and not to be underestimated.
“Don’t worry, we’ll have left long before they return,” an aide said.
“That’s good. I really don’t want a head-on conflict with him,” Shao Hengjiang muttered. He wasn’t ready to provoke Nangong Yao just yet.
Suddenly, there was a flurry of lightning in the distance, and although they were far away, Wan Liyun could see it.
Shao Hengjiang was also surprised and commented, “Ah, it seems there are indeed some formidable individuals on Azure Sky.”
“Hehe, no formidable person can protect the Azure Sky. With only two experts, how can they withstand us? Impossible,” Wan Liyun shouted, “Release those two things we prepared, and let them taste some ‘sweetness’.”
The subordinate acknowledged the order and went down.
Nangong Yan was truly surprised. She hadn’t expected the young man to be so profoundly skilled, his martial arts far surpassing her father’s by many folds. How had she never heard of such a person? Who was he, really? And she had never seen the martial arts he practiced before.
Ye Chen, desperate to keep the ship afloat, was genuinely worried that it might explode. If it really did, survival would be difficult.
The situation was quickly brought under temporary control, which seemed to instill a measure of confidence in the panicked crowd, gradually calming them down.
Out of nowhere, something surfaced, causing the waves to surge wildly, flying fifty feet high. The wave, rolling toward them, had to be caused by some huge creature beneath the water; otherwise, it wouldn’t be so high.
“I think a huge monster is coming,” Ye Chen muttered.
“We must hold on,” Nangong Yan urged him, pushing him and adding, “I believe in your abilities.” She then moved to the other side to prepare her poison darts and such.
“What, I can’t hold on against that, we’ll need you for this.” The sea monster was drawing closer.
“You can hold on, you’re so capable.”
“Why aren’t these pirates targeting the ships up front?”
A creature leaped ten feet or more, resembling a Horned Dragon with flying fish wings, and glowing like a Fire Qilin as it emerged from the water, only to disappear beneath the surface. This brief surfacing was likely to get a better view of what lay ahead and determine its target.
“Mother, what in the world is that?” Ye Chen exclaimed, startled.
Before he could finish speaking, the creature swam under their ship, causing the boat to creak and groan noisily.
Now seen more clearly, it was dark like a python, revealing sharp, knife-like teeth.
From behind, someone shouted, “Quick, shoot the arrows!” It was Nangong Yan calling.
The pressure from above decreased somewhat, but they hadn’t fully regained control. Winged Dragons were flying overhead, hurling fireballs. Some people were blown into the sea, and no one was available to help them—they were on their own.
After that volley of arrows,
it seemed to enrage the monster lurking beneath the waves. The monster disappeared underwater, and while everyone thought it was behind them, someone shouted, “It’s in front!”
With a resounding boom, the entire ship pitched violently, almost capsizing. Ye Chen nearly lost his footing, many people tumbled to the deck.
“Damn it, we must take out this monster, or the ship will completely break apart.” Ye Chen leaped into action, disregarding risks, and while it had yet to dive back under, a dozen lightning bolts zapped towards the sea surface, splashing waves seven or eight feet high.
Whether his strike hit or not was uncertain, as the creature vanished once more.
“Bang, bang…” the long tail of the monster lashed out like a Dragon Tail Swing, hitting the hull and instantly denting it with two cracks.
Water began flooding into the cabin.
“Damn it, we’re really sinking now. I’ve let down my ancestors,” an anguished voice cried.
The people aboard were once again gripped with fear.
Suddenly, the creature soared upwards, one hand grabbing the side of the ship and the other reaching out to snatch its prey. Just as the girl was about to become a victim, Ye Chen sprang forward, tackled her to the ground, and dodged the creature’s claw. However, several unfortunate souls behind them were not so lucky.
“What are you doing?” Ye Chen landed on top of Nangong Yan’s chest, and although she was caught off guard by the sudden move and her face flushed with color, she didn’t react right away.
“I just saved your life,” Ye Chen said softly. “These arrows are useless against it.” Grabbing a broken piece of wood about as tall as a man and as thick as an arm, he hurled it directly at the monster.
But the rocking of the ship was intense; otherwise, it might have hit the creature’s chest. Instead, it only slashed its skin, drawing blood.
The Horned Dragon, flapping its fins, roared at Ye Chen and charged him with open claws. Ye Chen scrambled up from the deck; the creature was already behind him. He jumped and dodged the sharp claws. Then, with a sudden turn and a thunderous palm strike, lightning surged forth.
With a thunderous roar, the creature was blasted away, crashing into the sea. It had clearly let its guard down, otherwise Ye Chen wouldn’t have managed to seize such an opportunity.
Everyone watched the sea, wondering if the creature was dead.
“Boom, boom, boom…”
As feared, the creature had not died and now furiously attacked the hull.Resigned, Ye Chen said, “I’ve done all I could.”
Nangong Yan ran over, handing him a sharpened wooden stick coated in poison and said, “Use this, it’s got poison on it. If you can hit it, this should kill it or at least weaken it substantially.”
“Why don’t you do it yourself?”
“With your martial arts being so good, how could you miss the chance to show off? Hurry up, this ship can’t hold on much longer.”
The ship rocked more violently.
“Don’t tell me you need a kiss to encourage you before you’re willing to go?”
“If that’s possible, then of course that would be best.”
“Be serious for a moment, okay? People could really die here.”
Ye Chen picked up the poison dart and moved forward.
Some others came to help, but they were no match for the monster in the water. Arrows hitting the Horned Dragon were like mosquito bites, posing no threat at all.
Instead, the Horned Dragon became even more enraged, banging furiously…
The ship was on the verge of falling apart
He was thoroughly stimulated, and even though Ye Chen had high martial arts skills, he couldn’t do anything about the beast hiding underwater. He felt utterly helpless at that moment.
“Hey, hurry up,” Nangong Yan urged him from the side.
Ye Chen shouted, “Do you think I don’t want to? I’m trying to find it!”
Suddenly, he saw its head about to break the surface of the water, but the Horned Dragon seemed more cunning than him. Its long tail had already swung around from behind, sweeping him off before he could strike.
Ye Chen was knocked back forty to fifty feet, nearly falling into the sea.
Nangong Yan picked up a fallen poison dart and flew forward, plunging it directly into the water.
The people of Immortal Medicine Island are indeed different, harboring a bit of a tomboyish spirit.
“Did the dart hit?” Ye Chen ran over.
“It doesn’t seem like it.”
“You really know how to waste. I thought you were more formidable.”
“Then help quickly.”
Ye Chen grabbed an iron hook used to secure the ship.
The iron hook flew out, landing in the water, and blood red spread through the massive waves.
Nangong Yan exclaimed with joy, “It should have hooked it, right?”
“Help quickly!” It was hooked, but how could he pull up the monstrous creature below? He was almost dragged into the sea.
Ye Chen desperately anchored his feet, but still got dragged along, cracking the wooden planks underfoot.
A large group of people surged forward to help.
They managed to hold on, but just as they did, the Water Dragon suddenly thrashed wildly as if mad, and they scattered.
The Water Dragon seemed to find a way to deal with them, attacking the hull frantically.
The ship was close to collapsing, and without a solution, it would surely be a matter of time.
“Eldest Senior Brother, hurry over there and use poison.”
But before the man with the horse-like face could get there, the tail thrashed about on the deck like a mud loach in a hot pan.
The ship was riddled with so many holes it had sunk by half.
“Monkey, you go,” Nangong Yan, knowing Ye Chen had higher martial arts skills, instructed.
With a loud slap, the strike was still off.
The creature dove back into the sea.
Suddenly, as if it had disappeared, just at that moment, a three-headed monster leaped out. While all their attention was on the underwater beast, pirates had unleashed an even bigger monster.
How could they fend off such a thing?
It was a Three-Headed Dragon that started with a Fireball, blasting the already battered ship to the verge of collapse.
Its arrival disrupted the rhythm; the ropes that had hooked the Water Dragon snapped instantly.
The Water Dragon underneath, now freed, became even more vicious. Ye Chen didn’t even realize how he fell into the water but managed to clamber onto a plank.
Cries for help kept coming, and he saw Nangong Yan, who had fallen into the water. He pulled her up in one swift motion.
The wailing continued, and the ship had broken into countless pieces, while the fog grew denser.
Ye Chen said, “We’d better hurry and row away, it looks like these are all going to get eaten.”
The waves rose higher, and saving others was no longer an option. He then noticed the girl he had pulled up was injured and her breathing faint.
Another half hour went by, and once it felt safe, the fog thickened even more. He didn’t know where he was as darkness fell. The girl had long since passed out.
His stomach growled with hunger, and Ye Chen looked lost, not knowing if Li Mo was alive.
After struggling for most of the day, he was practically falling apart. He quickly took out a medicinal pill Yang Tao’er had given him and fed it to the injured girl.
