SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 255: I will handle this

Chapter 255: I will handle this

Damon could only smile in response. "Don’t worry, and don’t look at me like that. Just give me a few days, and I will take care of this."

In a force of habit, he raised his hand and patted her head. He realized what he had done and was about to take his hand back when he saw the shy smile on the elf’s face. Clearly, she enjoyed it.

"Thank you for trying to heal me and thank you for that... cough..." Damon ruffled his hair awkwardly and added. "Kiss."

Lirae’s cheeks started turning pink. Damon did not know what to do. She was standing so close to him, and her reactions, coupled with the smell of her sweet blood, were making him slightly lose control.

However, he immediately clenched his fists and controlled himself, stopping with a small kiss on her cheeks. "Thank you." He said again. "I will handle this soul injury on my own. I do need your help for something else if you don’t mind."

Hmmm? Lirae looked up at him with a puzzled expression.

Damon quickly explained how his family had been accused and arrested unjustly and were now behind bars.

Lirae’s eyes sharpened the moment she heard that. "Your family has been imprisoned?" Her voice dropped to a dangerously calm tone. "That’s not something I can ignore."

Damon nodded. "The people who did it were probably trying to provoke me, thinking I’d come charging in and make things worse. But I’m not that stupid. I need someone they can’t touch, someone with status. That’s you."

The elven princess didn’t hesitate. "Give me the names and location."

He smiled. "They’re being held at the East District Hold in Garth city. They could have been moved. Could you look around for me?"

Lirae’s silver eyes glowed faintly as she shook her head and stepped back. "No. I’ll make sure they’re free by tonight. If anyone dares to stop me, they’ll answer to my magic."

Damon blinked. "Remind me never to piss you off."

A faint smirk tugged at her lips. "Too late. You already did, several times when I missed you, and you repeatedly failed to contact me. But I’ve decided to forgive you... for now."

Damon chuckled, the pain in his body briefly forgotten. "I owe you one."

"You owe me more than that," she said softly, then added, "Rest, my love. I’ll handle this."

Seeing the sincerity and love in her eyes, Damon couldn’t help but want to hug her tightly and hold her again. Everything with her was so simple. But he could only smile as the elf left immediately in a hurry.

The light surrounding her shimmered again, and she vanished like mist in the morning sun.

Left alone in the cave, Damon leaned back against the wall, letting his body sag with exhaustion. The pain was only slightly there, but the weakness he felt was not a joke. However, everything was fine now.

The purification raid was taken care of. Mark and Kate were safe, and now his family’s issue was well on its way to being resolved. As of Sylvara and the black pool trial, he was not too keen on going back to it right now.

He had already checked with Sylvara again, and she said that the mysterious group proceeded all the way to break point 9 with exploding speed, but once they got to the last but one level, they were continuously experiencing failures and were stuck.

This gave him some time. Fuck it. Even otherwise, he did not care. He had other important things to worry about at the moment. He needed to get his soul fixed.

One of the super ten guilds had thrown a challenge at him, and he had nearly come out on top, clearing the threat from every direction. Now the last one left was his injury. If he could just resolve that, he would truly be back for good.

And Damon had a very good idea where he needed to start for that. In fact, he had a very good lead on how to cure his soul injury. The same lead he had to follow to improve his family’s soul strength.

Earlier, he had neglected that quest because there was no more need for improving his family’s soul strength urgently, but now it looked like he himself needed that quest. He needed to search for the alchemy lab in the dungeon and go see that idiot alchemist again.

Who knew perhaps that man could even directly make an elixir to treat his soul injury? He would only know if he met with him and talked with him a bit. Damon let out a sigh. There was a lot of work to be done.

But before that, there was something else he needed to do. Damon hurriedly opened up his blood hall panel and grinned as he looked at the new notification.

[Ding! You may now recruit three Elite NPCs as personal followers. Followers will be bound to you as long as you serve as the Lord of the Blood Hall or until their bond level reaches disfavourable.]

"Finally," he said. "Something I actually have full control over."

The system interface shifted, showing the recruitment menu tied to the Blood Hall. Dozens of names flickered across it—some familiar, others flagged as unknown but powerful. After everything that had happened, he knew exactly the kind of people he wanted by his side now.

Two names stood out immediately.

One was Ellora, the old hag. She was extremely talented and powerful, and she had a big, versatile skill set. He would be a fool not to recruit her. This was a complete no-brainer.

For his next pick, he would have selected Varnyx, but there was a problem with that. Varnyx was needed in the blood hall to run things smoothly. It would be a mistake to take him away from that position. Also, he did not have any side benefits aside from his power level.

There was actually another name he thought of, but that person was extremely problematic.
