SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God -
Chapter 256: Questionable followers
Chapter 256: Questionable followers
That person was Kaelthorn—a former Blood General who had betrayed the previous Lord. He was powerful, experienced, and worst of all... cunning. The kind of man you wanted on your side but could never turn your back on.
Damon stared at Kaelthorn’s profile for a long time. His crimes were clearly listed: treason, unauthorized blood rituals, mass massacres, and suspected attempts at creating a false bloodline hierarchy.
And yet... the man was still alive. Which meant Varnyx had purposely kept him locked away instead of executing him.
That alone told Damon one thing—Kaelthorn might still be useful.
"Should I really do this?" Damon murmured, tapping the screen. He also wanted to recruit him because in his last life, he had heard a rumor about this vampire.
Among all sorts of vile and disturbing rumors that spread about the guy, there was one more rumor about how he had loved a human girl. Of course, it could very well be false. There were also rumors about him breaking the minds of many human women and keeping a slave pen full of human women just for his pleasure.
Then again, many of the vampire lords did the same. They were extremely ruthless when it came to human beings, and especially ones associated with divinity and the holy light.
Damon let out a sigh as he thought more about it. Recruiting Kaelthorn was a gamble, but the man was a peak C-rank monster, something he would be right now if this fucking soul injury were not there.
Ellora was also in the C-rank, but if the information he had was correct, then this man should be several times more powerful than her. He currently needed this power. Damon thought about it for a couple more seconds and finally made the decision.
Get the bastard as a follower for the next ten days and then ditch him for someone more reliable.
As long as he could use him in the next ten days to fix his soul injury, then everything would be worth it. Probably. He made the call.
[Ding! You have successfully recruited two followers.]
Ellora of the Red Veins (Lv 123, Grand Blood Alchemist and Rune Witch)
Kaelthorn the Oathbreaker (Lv 145, Blood Knight)
[Ding! You are still able to recruit one more follower]
Damon smiled at the third choice. He already knew whom he was going to recruit as his third. In fact, this was going to be his secret weapon in the game now that he was able to recruit a follower.
Damon’s gaze quickly went through the list and selected a name at the very bottom, a F-rank vampire with no class and no achievements to his name.
[Ding! You have successfully recruited Riven (Lv 12)]
The system accepted the command without protest. Damon sat still for a moment, watching the words settle on the screen like dust on stone.
Riven.
A nobody. A failure. A weakling vampire tossed into the Blood Hall’s dungeon long ago and forgotten. Even among F-ranks, Riven was a joke—he had no class, no records of skill use, no bloodline awakening, and no noteworthy combat experience. But that was exactly why Damon had chosen him.
Because in his last life, Riven hadn’t stayed that way.
Hidden beneath the surface, buried under ridicule and years of neglect, was something twisted and broken in the man. And when the right opportunity came, when the right trigger was given, Riven didn’t just rise—he exploded into power.
Damon still remembered his nickname in the second year of the game: the mad swordsman, the living plague, the death whisperer.
No one ever figured out what had triggered Riven’s change. Only that it had come suddenly, and left a trail of corpses behind. This time, Damon was going to be the trigger. Even he did not know how to get this vampire’s potential out, but there was plenty of time for him to find out.
This was a long game he had to take.
With all three recruits selected, the Blood Hall interface dimmed and updated his command roster. He now had a loyal master alchemist, a dangerous traitor with a violent past, and a sleeping beast just waiting to be woken up.
And all of them were right now bound by the system to serve him.
"Now," Damon muttered, stretching slightly, "let’s fix this damn soul before someone else tries to break it again."
Damon quickly selected Ellora’s name, and the summon option blinked next to her. He could summon any of them to him, and the cooldown for this function was one day. He decided to just summon the old hag for now. There was no point in summoning the other two to him when he could just personally pick them up from the blood hall.
[Ding! Summoning: Ellora of the Red Veins...]
[Estimated Arrival: 00:00:06]
Damon stood up from the ground and dusted himself off. Six seconds wasn’t long, but it was long enough for him to mentally prepare for the old hag’s arrival.
A shimmer of crimson light rippled in front of him as the air twisted. A small blood circle formed midair, and from within it stepped a seductive figure with her assets barely covered as usual. Her inky black hair fluttered wildly, and she revealed a wicked grin as her gaze met Damon’s.
"My Lord... I am so happy that you thought of me. I am here to serve you in all different ways." She winked, pushing her assets together a little more.
Damon stared at her for a second and sighed. "Ellora. For once, can you act your age?"
She smirked, clearly enjoying herself. "What? I’m just showing my enthusiasm. You summoned me, after all. And now I am your follower too, my master. It is my duty to satisfy all your needs. Shall we tend to some of them right here?"
With a flick of her wrist, her robe suddenly disappeared, and she now stood in front of Damon wearing just a two-piece, and an extremely sexy one at that.
