Chapter 966: Chapter 971: Misjudged

The training situation was urgent, but I couldn’t just up and go; arrangements had to be made. Plus, the CIA’s largest training camp was in Virginia, not far from the headquarters. Yang Yi could go anytime once everything was set.

After getting up once more from the hotel bed, Yang Yi, dressed in a bathrobe, had breakfast and then seriously considered whether to go to work or first sort out his living situation.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford to stay at the hotel; the problem was, how could he show off his wealth by staying in a hotel all the time?

Buy houses, cars, buy... whatever he wanted to buy. As for the possibility of being investigated, Yang Yi did not care about such things.

This time, Yang Yi took the initiative to call Walter, but to avoid awkward situations, he called him first.

When Walter arrived, he was once again looking wilted yet excited. Wilt because his body was somewhat spent, excited by the exhilaration of the spirit.

"Should I go to work, or should I go buy a house?"

Walter pondered seriously for a moment before saying gravely, "It’s up to you, whatever you want to do."

"Alright, then I’ll go buy a house, get two cars, and then some household items. If you don’t have time, I can go by myself."

Walter hesitated, then pushed Yang Yi into the room and after closing the door, whispered, "I know you are very wealthy, but your money isn’t from a legitimate source. This flamboyant display of wealth... isn’t it a bit too soon?"

"Not too soon. I want people to know I’m rich. They’ll be curious where my money comes from."

"No, no, no, I shouldn’t interfere with your plans, but this approach doesn’t seem to provide any benefits or be of any use, does it?"

Yang Yi said in a low voice, "Will someone investigate me? I mean, other than the internal CIA investigation, will anyone else look into my financial status?"

"Well... not in the short term, and..."

"Let me ask you a question. Can’t the second-generation wealthy who are born overseas join the CIA?"

"There’s certainly no rule against that, but there aren’t any tycoons entering the CIA..."

"Can’t I do it for the thrill? Plus, I am wealthy, my money is legal; I have legally operated companies supplying me with more money than I could ever spend. I treat the CIA job as life’s pleasure and spending money as my professional job. Is there a law against it?"

Walter sighed and asked, "Do you have a plan?"

Yang Yi smiled slightly and replied, "Of course, I have a plan, and it’s just..."

Walter gave a listening gesture, but Yang Yi stopped speaking and whispered, "Do you really want to hear it? In this place?"

Walter spread his hands and said, "I don’t have to hear it. Okay, we’ll talk about your work plan later. For now, I’ll accompany you to buy the house. Just as long as you actually have a plan. Do you have one?"

Yang Yi did have a plan, but it didn’t align with Walter’s expectations. Walter was concerned that Yang Yi was reluctant to undertake this secret mission, only wanting to enjoy life and postponing the task whenever possible.

But nothing could be verified for now. To find out what Yang Yi really wanted to do, they’d have to wait and see over time.

"There are many options for houses. It depends on what kind of house you want. My advice is to buy a house that is big enough but not too large... but never mind, you decide."

Yang Yi wasn’t really listening to Walter’s suggestions, which left him with no choice but to stop his advice, and Yang Yi, after checking his phone, dialed a number.

"I want to buy a house, no, there’s no need for anyone to come over, I’m heading there now. Please have your best agent wait for me. What kind of house? I’ve checked, and you are the largest secondary real estate brokerage firm in D.C., please don’t disappoint me."

Yang Yi hung up the phone, smiled at Walter, and said, "All set. Let’s go."

Following Yang Yi’s given address, Walter drove him to one of the largest brokerage companies in the Washington area.

Yang Yi walked with a swagger, though his clothes weren’t particularly eye-catching. The watch he glanced at to check the time made it clear that he was a young tycoon.

"I just called; I want to buy a house."

After sitting down on a couch, Yang Yi got straight to the point. The woman who received him was in her thirties, a beauty indeed, and as a gold-level agent at this real estate brokerage firm, she certainly had impressive credentials.

"Hello, Mr. Yang, I’m Angelina. Here’s my card. Please have a cup of coffee first. We have a wide variety of properties available for you to take your time choosing. What type of property are you looking for?"

Angelina was holding three folders, her smile sweet. Yang Yi thought for a moment and said, "I want a swimming pool."

"Of course, that’s no problem."

"It has to be large."

Angelina set one folder aside, then her smile grew even sweeter as she said, "Of course, we do have such properties."

"I want something I can move into right away, um, with a larger lawn, more rooms, high-quality decor, and it has to be very clean, definitely no bugs like bedbugs, it should smell nice with no bad odors, must have a good view, nice furniture, it can be antique but definitely not look old or dirty. Oh, and the yard should ideally have trees. Let me think, the swimming pool also needs to be large, those backyard ones with just a few square meters won’t do, and also... the area should be a bit secluded so I won’t get complaints from neighbors when I throw parties. That’s about it for requirements."

Yang Yi had many requests, the only thing he hadn’t mentioned was money. The beautiful agent set all three folders aside, then smiled and said, "Please wait a moment, we do have properties that will meet your requirements."

Angelina quickly left, Walter took a sip of coffee, sighed, and said softly, "I hope you’re not messing with us, really."

Angelina came back, she took a seat very, very close to Yang Yi with several leaflets, then opened them up.

"We have two luxury homes that can meet your needs. One is in a bustling area of Washington D.C., with a living space of 7,800 square feet, priced at $6.75 million. The other villa is on a hilltop in the suburbs, with 24,000 square feet of living space, the nearest neighbor is two kilometers away, absolutely quiet, with a super-large swimming pool, and a beautiful environment, priced at only 6.5 million British Pounds. You can take a look at the photos."

Yang Yi glanced at Walter, then at Angelina, and with a puzzled expression he asked, "The Washington D.C. property... is it really that cheap?"

Walter looked down, then picked up his coffee cup, while the beautiful woman paused for a moment then smiled broadly and said, "Yes, compared to metropolises like New York and Los Angeles, property prices in Washington D.C. are indeed much lower."

Although Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States, its property prices are not considered high because the city only has six hundred thousand people. Despite being the political center, it only ranks sixth in size among U.S. cities.

The same house would be unattainable in Los Angeles for twenty million dollars, but here, five million is more than enough. The gap is that large.

Yang Yi fell into thought; he hadn’t looked much at the leaflets for the two houses. The professional-smiling woman said, "You can view the houses at any time, so which one are you interested in?"

Yang Yi sighed, leaned back, and said, "Let’s see both, starting with the closer and then the farther one. Let’s head out for a viewing now."

"Alright, sir, viewing the houses is free. If you need a house inspection, we can provide that service. We have professionals and our fees are reasonable. Also, if you find any defects that we didn’t point out after you move in, we promise a refund."

Yang Yi waved his finger and said, "Let’s go have a look."

Angelina took the keys, then smiled and said, "We can leave now, please."

Angelina walked out of the real estate agency, then said with a smile, "Did you gentlemen come by car? I’ll go get..."

Yang Yi had already headed towards Walter’s car, and as Walter pulled out his keys and pressed the button, Angelina’s expression seemed to freeze for a moment.

It couldn’t be called a broken car, but it definitely wasn’t the kind of car driven by wealthy people.

Yang Yi was almost at the car side, but he didn’t hear the sound of high heels, so he looked back and saw Angelina standing at the door with a pained expression.

Yang Yi spread his hands and asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Sorry, I really feel unwell, oh, my goodness, I am so sorry, hey, Judy."

A girl who had just gotten out of a car seemed to be Angelina’s savior. Angelina waved at her, then called out loudly, "Take these two gentlemen to see the houses, I need to go back and rest, I’m not feeling well, I’m really in pain."

The somewhat green-looking girl was stunned; she pointed at herself and said, "Me? But..."

"It’s you, come here, I’ll tell you where to go."

Angelina handed the leaflets and keys to the girl, then she only apologized politely to Yang Yi before hurrying back in.

Walter looked at Yang Yi with a helpless expression and said, "She misjudged us."

Yang Yi shrugged and said, "You should change cars; besides, as a top agent, she shouldn’t have misjudged me, right? Do I look that much like a penniless guy? Didn’t she see my watch?"

"She didn’t see it; besides... your performance was too exaggerated, so exaggerated that it became unbelievable."

Yang Yi sighed helplessly and said, "Well then, hi, hello, quick question, do you guys charge for viewing houses? Also, if you take me to see a house and I buy it, does the commission from the sale go to you or to Angelina?"

The young girl, looking about twenty-four or twenty-five, spoke with a bewildered expression: "It goes to me, she’s already handed you both over to my care. But, are we really going to view those two luxury homes? They’re quite expensive."
