Chapter 967: Chapter 972: Can’t I Have Them All?
The girl drove ahead, leading Yang Yi and Walter to a house for sale located in the city center.
The house was large, the yard was extensive, the location decent, and the environment delightful. Moreover, the house featured a three-car garage, all sizeable.
"Here we are. Let me show you around, uh..."
Standing in front of the house, the girl seemed unsure of what to say or do.
Walter couldn’t stand it anymore and said in a stern voice, "Are you new to this?"
"Yes, less than a month."
"How many houses have you sold?"
"..."
"Not a single one?"
The girl nodded.
Walter said with a look of helplessness, "At least you should introduce yourself, and if you don’t know the details about this house, you should at least let us inside to have a look."
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, my name is Judy. Please, follow me. This house, this house... I’m sorry, I’m really not qualified to show clients a house like this."
Judy’s face turned red. Yang Yi asked with a curious expression, "Does your company allow things like this? Taking clients to view a property and then assigning someone as inexperienced as you, that doesn’t seem right."
"I’m sorry, really sorry, but..."
"Does this happen often? Nevermind, I just have one question, is Angelina really your best top-selling agent?"
"She... she’s good, a top-selling agent, not the best, but... uh, she’s quite good."
Yang Yi and Walter exchanged glances, then nodded to each other, "Looks like we judged incorrectly."
Yang Yi waved his hand, "Let’s go in, open the door."
Judy, somewhat flustered with the keys in hand, tried the largest one but couldn’t get the door to open. While she frantically switched keys, Yang Yi stretched out his hand, "Give it to me, I’ll open the door."
"I’m sorry, I can’t give the keys to a client..."
"Um, step back."
Yang Yi asked Judy to step back, then he produced a piece of wire he never left home without and five seconds later, the door was open.
Yang Yi was very pleased, "Not a bad lock."
Judy was speechless, staring at the keys in her hand, wondering whether she should follow Yang Yi inside.
Walter shrugged, "Don’t worry, go ahead."
Judy went inside, but looked apprehensive and said unnaturally, "You... can go upstairs to have a look, I will wait here for you."
"Is that according to the rules? Ha ha."
Judy looked ready to bolt out the door, while Yang Yi chuckled. He went upstairs to take a look, wandering around casually, then came back down quickly, not waiting for Walter’s inspection or opinion, and said nonchalantly, "If there are no legal issues with this house, I’ll take it."
Judy was taken aback, then with a face full of uncertainty, she asked, "What did you say?"
"I said I’ll buy it. Mark it as sold, tell your company people that I’ve bought it and to contact the seller to prepare the documents; I want to move in as soon as possible. Alright, you can take care of these matters in the car; now let’s go see another house."
Judy was thoroughly stunned. She asked cautiously, "You’ve already bought it, do you still need to see another? Or are you planning to decide after seeing the other villa?"
Yang Yi was incredibly exasperated, spreading his hands, "Was I not clear enough, or are you having trouble understanding? Can’t I buy two houses?"
Judy covered her mouth, her eyes wide with disbelief, and Yang Yi waved her off as if shooing a fly, "Let’s go, let’s see the other house."
Judy seemed in a daze, while Walter sighed, "This poor girl is terrified. Hey, Judy, are you okay? I think you might not be in the best state to drive. If you don’t mind, you could ride with us."
Judy shook her head subconsciously. Walter shrugged, "Do we look like bad guys? Well, it’s up to you."
After taking several deep breaths, Judy mumbled, "I know their license plate number, the surveillance must have captured their faces, and they don’t seem like bad guys. They are not the kind of clients I have to keep a distance from, it’s okay to go with them to see the houses..."
After speaking, Judy held her head, then with an embarrassed face, she said, "I’m a bit dizzy, um, but if I ride with you, I’ll have to trouble you to drop me off."
Yang Yi waved his hand impatiently, "Get in the car. Lead the way."
The ride there was tense, like a frightened kitten. Judy, ever so nervous, managed to get Yang Yi and the team to the location, only thanks to having the address in the booklet; otherwise, it would have been a real question mark.
"This house..."
As Judy was flipping through the booklet to check, Yang Yi had already entered the house without waiting for Judy to get the keys.
Judy began to question her own judgment, feeling foolish. It was clear that the behavior of the two men was odd, so why had she gotten so flustered when she heard he was buying two houses?
Yang Yi and Walter toured the house while Judy stayed outside, hesitating whether to call the office or even to call the police.
It had to be said that this villa was quite impressive.
Yang Yi and Walter returned after half an hour, finding Judy still debating whether to call the police, phone in hand.
"This house is nice; I’ll take it too. What’s going on with you?"
Judy pressed a hand to her head and blurted out, "I’m fine, just a bit... excited. Are you serious? Are you really serious? You’re not joking with me, right? Please tell me this isn’t a prank. I’m sorry, I’m just overwhelmed and finding it hard to believe."
"Do agents make a lot in commission? Is it me or the seller who pays? Is it worth getting this excited? Never mind; I won’t ask you about that. Go back to your company and sign the documents. We should head back now."
Yang Yi walked to the car and then turned back to Judy, "Come on, don’t just stand there, get in."
With a third party in the car, Yang Yi and Walter refrained from chatting. After driving for a while, and almost upon entering the city, Judy suddenly said, "The commission for selling a house is three percent, paid by the seller. My cut is 0.5 percent, and because of the high prices of these two houses, the commission will be significant."
Yang Yi and Walter looked at each other in astonishment, and then Walter said with a resigned smile, "This kid doesn’t seem suited for this job."
Judy, looking uneasy, said, "I’m sorry, but you just asked me about this."
A 0.5 percent commission on 13 million US Dollars is just 65,000 Dollars. But for a newbie in the workforce, 65,000 is indeed a huge sum—actually, it seems to be a substantial amount for most people.
So Judy’s excitement was understandable, considering her dilapidated, second-hand Kia; a commission of 65,000 US Dollars could indeed be enough to make her faint.
