Chapter 910: Chapter 915 Normal Transaction
After dinner, when the Stone Statue looked at his own hands and the stained clothes with a disgusted expression on his face, he appeared quite annoyed.
Yang Yi wiped his mouth with a napkin and then smiled at the Stone Statue, "Do you need to change your clothes?"
The Stone Statue glanced at Yang Yi and said emotionlessly, "No need."
Woody stood up, approached Yang Yi, and whispered, "Boss, I’m going to find a friend I know. Also, do you need me to arrange accommodation? Beds in high-end hotels in the Green Zone are tight, and with so many of us, we might not have enough rooms, but those ordinary hotels have a poorer environment."
"Aim for accommodation, don’t worry about it. Attend to your own matters first; we’ll let you know where we’re staying after it’s decided."
Woody nodded, then left with Anton to contact a known arms dealer.
Yang Yi looked at Jethro and spoke gravely, "Where will Barbosa be staying?"
"He has his own house, but the arms trade won’t take place in the Green Zone. Barbosa is not a retailer; he’s a wholesaler, so he won’t store large quantities of arms in the Green Zone."
"So if we find Barbosa, how will the deal go down?"
"Outside the Green Zone, or there’s another possibility that Mughal will deliver the weapons to us."
"Mughal? Isn’t he very closely related to the Americans? Most of the weapons for the Syrian rebels have been supplied by Mughal."
"Yes, but Mughal doesn’t live in Syria; he spends most of his time in the Green Zone."
Yang Yi pondered for a moment and then said, "Alright, let’s find a place to stay first, see if Woody can contact Barbosa. If the plan isn’t feasible, then we’ll have to think of something else."
Standing up, Yang Yi gestured, "Let’s go, find a hotel."
There were many hotels in the Green Zone, but not many high-end ones, and they were almost always full. However, Yang Yi did not intend to display the significant financial resources that a mercenary should not possess, so they eventually settled in a hotel that was not very high-grade but still more expensive than outer hotels.
As Yang Yi had thought, once they found the hotel, the Stone Statue changed his clothes and then began to wash them.
Two hours later, Woody called.
"Boss, a friend of mine knows Barbosa; he helped call Barbosa, and Barbosa is willing to do business with us. He’s not in the Green Zone, but he can be back there tonight."
Yang Yi smiled and asked, "Did you give him the list?"
"Yes, Barbosa gave a quote of 1.2 million US dollars."
The weapons Yang Yi and his team needed were many, ranging from pistols to rifles, from hand grenades to rocket launchers, from bulletproof vests to night vision devices—essentially all combat gear needed to be purchased here.
Yang Yi, Xiao Ran, Kate, Brian, Paul, Zhang Yong, Sergei, Tuya, Stone Statue, Anton, Chris—a total of eleven combatants’ gear summed up to only 1.2 million US dollars, which was actually a very low price.
It roughly ensured that everyone had a complete set of weapons and bulletproof vests, though night vision devices were not available for everyone, as good night vision devices were very costly, whether thermal imaging or image intensifier night vision devices, equipping everyone with a full set of night vision gear would require an additional million dollars at least.
Jethro spoke softly to Yang Yi, "1.1 million US dollars, the price is very reasonable considering the current market."
Other than Xiao Ran’s SCAR-H and the Stone Statue’s desired M24 sniper rifle with scopes costing over five thousand dollars apiece, everyone else used AK-74 rifles because the prices within the AK family were cheaper.
Yang Yi didn’t mind equipping everyone with the best weapons and gear, but as a mercenary group that had just arrived in Baghdad, it wasn’t possible to be too generous, so the list Yang Yi gave to Woody was configured according to what a typical mercenary group could afford.
If they wanted better weapons and more comprehensive electronic equipment, they could trade with Barbosa again.
Yang Yi told Woody, "Good, tell him we want to deal tonight."
Just as Yang Yi finished speaking, Brian urgently said, "Wait, not tonight, better do it tomorrow."
"Why?"
Brian smiled briefly, then whispered, "Because more people are coming. I’ve got three buddies on their way here from the United States; it’s not a short journey, but they should all be here by tomorrow morning at the latest."
"More people?"
Yang Yi was taken aback, but after pondering for a moment, he spoke gravely, "No, we’ll deal tonight. Tonight is just a transaction; we don’t necessarily have to eliminate Barbosa, and we need the weapons."
After saying that, Yang Yi told Woody over the phone, "Add three sets of gear, it would be best if we can deal tonight."
Yang Yi hung up the phone and then said to Brian, "Three more people? Are you sure there won’t be any problems? Honestly, Brian, I think it’s more likely they’re coming to seek revenge on you rather than help you."
Brian shrugged, "It won’t take long; I’ll convince them, so you needn’t worry about them trying to kill me."
Yang Yi smiled and remarked, "I would very much welcome your Pandora Box being rebuilt, I have confidence in you."
Brian chuckled confidently, "Just wait and see how powerful Pandora Box really is."
Just then, the phone rang again, and after Yang Yi answered, Woody spoke solemnly, "It’s all set, tonight at nine o’clock, the transaction will be inside the Green Zone."
"That quickly, okay then, tonight at nine, I got it."
He hung up the phone, and Yang Yi looked at Brian, "The deal’s tonight at nine, in the Green Zone, seems we can’t make a move on Barbosa."
The Green Zone was heavily guarded—if they couldn’t negotiate with Barbosa and eventually had to make a move inside, the Organization of Water could not escape; thus, at least, no firing was possible. And since Barbosa would have numerous bodyguards and security personnel around him, it wasn’t feasible without firing.
Since there was little chance of dealing with Barbosa directly and attacking during the first transaction, they might as well make the deal properly and get the weapons first.
Next would be the arrangements.
Jethro and Tuya definitely couldn’t go; their appearance would give everything away, and a transaction wouldn’t need too many people; bringing everyone served no purpose. The most important thing was the absence of guns, and rashly turning on Barbosa could be deadly. So this first transaction had to be purely transactional.
Yang Yi pondered and then said,:,: "Brian, you, Paul, the Stone Statue, plus Anton and Zhang Yong, the few of us going to the deal will be enough."
