Chapter 668: Chapter 674: Betting Agreement

"Anton, will you accept bets? Although we don’t need your permission to start betting, I think it’s better to ask for your opinion."

"Betting?"

"Yes, we all want to know who will win between you and the Robot. The Robot has already agreed, so will you accept the bets?"

Anton nodded and said, "Alright, you guys can place your bets."

Jethro broke into a smile, then said cheerfully, "Great, then the betting can start. By the way, I’m really rooting for you."

Anton smiled and said, "You’ve got good taste."

Jethro, full of energy, walked up to everyone and then loudly said, "Hey, everyone, Anton has agreed, so we can start placing bets now, but we need a bookie to start things off. The question is, who will be the bookie?"

Chris looked puzzled and said, "Since it was your idea to hold the betting, then of course you should be the bookie. Besides you, who else could take the bets? Even if I wanted to be the bookie, I don’t have that kind of money."

Jethro looked troubled and said, "I should indeed be the bookie, because I don’t want to miss this great betting opportunity. But you see, this competition is an internal affair among you all. If I am the bookie and accept bets, then if your bets are not balanced, I will lose money. Most importantly, if the Robot or Anton sees the betting results and either of them throws the match, wouldn’t I lose big time?"

Jethro’s words were met with a chorus of boos.

"Pssh, throwing the match, you think I’d stoop so low."

Displaying disdain for Jethro’s caution, Yang Yi said scornfully, "You want to bet and hold the betting, yet you’re too scared to be the bookie. You might be timid, but what kind of person do you take me for, that I would throw the match?"

With a dismissive shake of his head, Yang Yi looked at Anton and then loudly said, "Here’s what we’ll do: you guys place your bets, and I’ll be the bookie. It would be best if you all bet on Anton winning, that way I can make a profit."

What Yang Yi meant was that he would act as the bookie, allowing Jethro and the others to place their bets. If Anton lost, then the money would naturally go to him. If Anton won, he’d have to pay everyone who bet on Anton. If some bet on Anton winning and others on him losing, he’d collect the money from those who bet on Anton and pay out to those who bet on him losing.

A bookie was in place to get the game going, but just then, Anton suddenly said, "Let’s make it a personal wager, you win I pay, I win you pay."

Yang Yi was momentarily stunned, then cheerfully said, "Alright, then it’s a personal wager. Hey, you can place your bets now. Think carefully whether you’re betting on me or Anton."

After finishing, Yang Yi looked at Anton and asked, "Can I place a bet too?"

Anton smiled and said, "Of course."

Yang Yi turned to the crowd, gestured with his hand, and said, "Place your bets, place your bets, one to one odds, the more you stake, the more you win, and the less you stake, the less you win. Get a pen and write down the amount you want to bet and your name on a piece of paper. We’ll settle up after the outcome, so hurry up, place your bets."

Jethro gestured to Boyata to pass a pen and said, "Write down fifty thousand on Anton for me."

Yang Yi looked at Jethro with surprise and said, "Hey, you got a problem with your eyesight or what? Do you have so much money you don’t know where to throw it?"

Jethro pondered for a moment, then mumbled to himself, "Yeah, money is hard to earn these days, who doesn’t like having more of it, right?"

Yang Yi laughed and said, "Exactly."

Jethro shouted to Boyata, "Write down two hundred thousand on Anton."

Yang Yi rolled his eyes disdainfully, and at that moment, Roman hesitantly said, "I’m betting on Anton, ten thousand US Dollars."

Sergei also mutteringly said, "Boyata, write it down for me, too, Anton ten thousand."

Vitali coughed lightly and looked at Yang Yi, who spread his hands smiling and said, "You..."

"Ten thousand on Anton..."

Yang Yi quickly pulled a face and said, "No taste."

Chris hesitated for a moment, then borrowed a pen from Boyata and wrote down his name and number on a piece of paper.

Rodriguez stood behind Chris, craned his neck to peek over his shoulder, and then loudly said, "Okay! Chris, you traitor, you’re actually not betting on the boss winning? Fuck! You even put down five hundred thousand? You’re digging a hole for the boss!"

Chris turned his neck, puffing and panting, and said, "It’s a bet, you understand? It has nothing to do with who’s the boss..."

Rodriguez said with righteous indignation, "I bet the boss will win, I’ll put down... well, five thousand is fine."

Anton casually said, "Bets have to be at least ten thousand."

"Then make it ten thousand, boss, I support you!"

So far, Rodriguez was the only one to favor Yang Yi, and Yang Yi said to him with a look of appreciation, "Rod, you dare to raise the stakes a bit more?"

Rodriguez smiled sheepishly and said, "Boss, it’s not easy to earn money..."

Just then, Boyata suddenly said, "I’ll bet... fifty thousand on the Robot winning!"

Boyata, with a look of determination, wrote down his name and amount on the paper.

Jethro exclaimed, "Boyata, have you lost your mind? Your month’s salary on the Robot winning?"

Boyata glanced at Yang Yi and whispered, "I also think Anton will win, but for some reason, it feels like the Robot might win. I’ll just trust my gut feeling."

Yang Yi was deeply touched, clapped Boyata on the shoulder, and said, "Good brother, don’t worry, I’ll definitely make you win some money."

After that, Yang Yi looked sidelong at Anton and then said to himself, "Hmm, since it’s a personal wager, I can bet too. I don’t know how much you can handle, so I’ll just go with a modest amount, five hundred thousand, on myself winning, of course."

Anton smiled with disdain and said in a firm voice, "One million, on myself winning."

After Boyata had written down all the bets, he called out loudly, "Everyone take a look, and if there are no problems, sign your name."

Yang Yi said impatiently, "Sign what names, who dares not to pay up? Alright, the betting is over now, it’s time to talk about the target."

Jethro coughed lightly, then slowly continued, "Our target is named Feyel, a Major in rank, in charge of managing a large armory outside of Zaporozhye, with about six hundred soldiers responsible for guarding this armory. Boyata, show everyone a photo of the target."

As Boyata brought up Feyel’s photo on the tablet, Jethro added, "I was actually planning to negotiate with Feyel first, but the chance of buying him off is almost nil. Plus, with this bet going on, I won’t contact him anymore to avoid making the target more vigilant. However, I want to remind all of you, Feyel hardly leaves the barracks."

Yang Yi leaned in to look at the target’s photo and then said nonchalantly, "Where’s the armory? Any more detailed intel?"
