Chapter 648: Chapter 654: Just Leave One Behind
Hubert also lived in Kiev, in an apartment without a doorman; taking him down wouldn’t be difficult.
As for what Hubert did and what role he played in Big Ivan’s organization, Yang Yi wasn’t clear because he didn’t need to know. Jethro didn’t need to tell him either.
If this had been before, Yang Yi would have told Justin the news that Jethro was planning to make a move on one of Big Ivan’s men. That was intelligence that could be traded for money, not to mention it could increase his influence with Justin. But now, Yang Yi had no intention of doing so.
Ever since he found out that the Black Devil was working for Big Ivan, Yang Yi, or rather the entire Organization of Water, aimed to take down the Black Devil. Striking Big Ivan was an important precondition for taking down the Black Devil, so this information had to be kept under wraps.
The car drove into a relatively bustling area of Kiev.
There wasn’t a soul on the streets at midnight. Boyata looked around and parked the car, then after checking the GPS for a while, he turned to Jethro and said, "Boss, we’re here."
Jethro opened a briefcase that he had placed by his side, took out a large bundle of cash, and, after a moment of thought, he took out another bundle. Then he pulled out a black plastic bag, put both stacks of cash inside, and whispered, "Let’s go. I’ll come with you this time. Boyata, you stay in the car."
Yang Yi, Rodriguez, and Jethro got out of the car. The people in the back of the car, seeing them get out, knew they had arrived, and four of them got out together.
Vitali was injured, and even though he was mostly healed, he hadn’t completely recovered. Yang Yi waved to Vitali and said, "You wait in the car, the rest will come up with us."
Six people walked towards a residential building. At this point, Jethro said to Yang Yi indifferently, "When you acted alone just now, they were prepared, right?"
"Yes, they were prepared, but definitely not because they received explicit information, so there was only one person on lookout in the living room, with the other four asleep."
"Then it’s likely no one tipped them off; our target is just very cautious. Hmm, I don’t know if our target has any guards. If he does, be careful when you act. Don’t kill him— I’m hoping to recruit him. If you take him out, I won’t have that chance."
"Understood, I’ll be careful when I make my move."
The group quickly ascended the stairs, stopping in front of a door on the fourth floor. Jethro looked up at the door number and, after a moment, nodded to Yang Yi.
This was the place. Yang Yi immediately inserted the wire into the keyhole.
If you can pick locks like Yang Yi, even if you can’t guarantee to open all locks, you could certainly get past any ordinary one, making such situations much easier. If you can’t pick locks, you’d have to break down the door violently. Although that might also grant access, and who knows, it might be faster, but breaking in would surely alert others.
So bringing Yang Yi was like having a master key.
As Yang Yi gently pushed the door open, Sergei and Roman immediately rushed in.
Sergei and Roman were fully armed. They wore heavy bulletproof vests and could be considered as heavily equipped infantry. Both Rodriguez and Chris, like Yang Yi, were light— they didn’t even wear bulletproof vests, so it was definitely Sergei and Roman who charged in first.
Once Sergei took the lead and rushed in, he immediately waved his hand, signaling that it was clear, and the rest of them quickly followed.
When they entered the room, Jethro gently closed the door behind them.
There was no sound, just the steady snoring coming from two bedrooms.
The living room was in chaos, unfinished food, dishes piled up in the kitchen sink, the entire house filled with a faint stench.
Yang Yi waved his hand and could hear snoring sounds, indicating that the people here were on guard. He then pointed to a room, signaling Roman and Sergei to go there, while he himself approached a bedroom with a closed door.
Hiding his body by the door, Yang Yi grasped the handle, gently twisted it, and then violently pushed the door open.
There was no gunfire, nothing but the sound of snoring. This wasn’t a trap, so Rodriguez abruptly rushed in, followed by Yang Yi into the bedroom.
Someone was lying on the bed, still fast asleep. His alertness was poor, allowing three people to stand by the bed without being detected.
Yang Yi reached out to turn on the light, and the person on the bed suddenly opened his eyes, then instinctively reached under the pillow. But when two guns were pointed at his head, he immediately stopped all movement.
The light was glaring. The person on the bed raised his hands, then squinted his eyes slightly, asking in a panic, "Who’s there?"
Just then, Yang Yi heard a muffled sound of a gunstock hitting flesh. He knew Sergei and the others had attacked someone.
Jethro took a look at his phone, then at the person sitting on the bed, and said with a smile, "Hello, Hubert."
After the greeting, Jethro lightly sniffed and waved his hand, "Take him out; it stinks in here."
The smell of stinky feet in the bedroom was overwhelming. Rodriguez grabbed Hubert’s arm and dragged him under the bed.
Hubert was stark naked and didn’t have anything on. Rodriguez pushed him into the living room, saying in a low voice, "Stand still!"
Two more people were pushed into the living room; one of them had a bloody head, probably the one hit with the gunstock.
Jethro sat down on the couch, frowned as he picked up an empty bottle, and after sweeping all the trash on the coffee table onto the floor, he sighed and said, "Hello, Hubert, you know why I’m here, don’t you?"
Hubert, naked, instinctively placed his hands over his privates to cover himself, but Rodriguez nudged him with the gun, prompting him to raise his hands again quickly.
Then, the person standing next to Hubert said, "Deyo’s bastard! Get on with it, cut the crap."
The bleeding man spat viciously at Jethro, who dodged. Then he pointed at Hubert and said, "He’s the one I’m looking for."
Yang Yi caught on; since Jethro was only looking for Hubert, the other two could be disposed of.
Yang Yi didn’t make a move; he looked at Chris. Chris frowned with a hint of helplessness and then raised his suppressed pistol to the head of the man who had been struck and popped a shot.
The other who tried to resist was struck down to the ground with a blow from Sergei’s gunstock. At this point, Jethro spread his hands, "Leaving one is enough."
Chris didn’t wait for a signal from Yang Yi. He aimed at the back of the head of the man just hit with the gunstock and pulled the trigger once more.
