Chapter 636: Chapter 643 What Am I Doing
Norbert’s first reaction was to call the police, but remembering that Heidi was already being questioned by the police, his only thought was to hurry to Heidi’s house as quickly as possible.
He made two more calls on the way, but of course, they went unanswered, so Norbert stopped calling and focused on driving as fast as he could to his girlfriend’s place.
When Norbert arrived at the entrance to his girlfriend’s house, he was curious why there were no police cars at the door, but all he could think was that the police might have already left.
Norbert parked his car by the roadside, and as he was about to ring the doorbell, he found the gate was open. As he entered the yard and noticed a strange car, he was puzzled for only a moment.
The living room door was also open. Norbert walked in with confusion, but before he could figure out what had happened, he heard a moan that was louder than the last.
Norbert’s face turned pale as numbness spread through his body. He wanted to go in and see what had happened but also wanted to turn and leave, to get as far away from Heidi’s house as he could.
Confusion, astonishment, fear, disappointment, and sadness overwhelmed Norbert like a tsunami until he began to grieve and to rage.
The grief-stricken Norbert decided he couldn’t just turn and walk away without seeing what had happened, so he quickly headed toward Heidi’s bedroom.
Standing at the door of Heidi’s bedroom, Norbert was stunned by the scene before him.
As speechless Norbert stood frozen, it was eventually the muscular man lying on the bed who noticed him.
"Who are you?"
At the muscular man’s shout, Heidi unconsciously turned her head and froze as if struck by electricity the moment she saw Norbert.
Norbert raised a hand and said, dispirited, "Heidi!"
Heidi turned pale with shock. She instinctively grabbed the bedsheet and said with a trembling voice, "How did you get here..."
The muscular man sat up from the bed and looked at Norbert with a complex expression.
Norbert had a complex look as well, glancing at the muscular man, then back at his girlfriend.
Overwhelmed with humiliation and grief, Norbert finally stamped his foot angrily and turned to leave.
Norbert’s annual salary was three hundred thousand euros, he had a bright future, and Heidi was just his girlfriend after all.
It might be best to just break up and find a new girlfriend. It’s not like he needed to fight that particularly strong-looking man.
But just as Norbert was about to turn around, his right hand suddenly grabbed something. As he gripped it instinctively, someone pushed hard on his back. Norbert, unable to control his movements, staggered toward the muscular man.
"What are you doing..."
One thing to understand is that people who build muscles in the gym are definitely strong, there’s no questioning that, but having muscles doesn’t necessarily mean they can fight or even know how to fight.
And in Norbert’s hand was a knife.
Norbert never intended to stab anyone with the knife, it never crossed his mind, and he didn’t think it was worth it. Although he was furious, he still wouldn’t stab someone because that option was not part of his choices.
However, what the muscular man saw was Norbert rushing at him with a knife. So he instinctively threw a punch at Norbert. When Norbert realized he was about to be hit, his hand swiped out, and the muscular man’s arm suddenly had a cut on it, and then another along his chest.
With a loud scream, the brawny man, realizing he was injured and acting on instinct, threw another punch at Norbert.
Norbert acted without thinking and thrust the knife out again, and the sharp kitchen knife silently pierced the chest of the muscular man.
The muscular man, who had just leaped from the bed and was standing on the floor, looked at the knife in his chest, wanting to pull it out but not daring to. He glanced at Norbert, who was backing away, and then at Heidi beside him, his face filled with panic he said, "Save me, save me... "
As he spoke, the muscular man fell backward onto the bed.
Heidi watched the man collapse, then suddenly let out a piercing, prolonged scream.
Norbert’s eyes widened, he could see everything, but he didn’t understand what had happened.
Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?
Norbert was completely bewildered.
Actually, for ordinary people, whether it’s a fight or a murder, there’s not so much context and aftermath. It just happens in two or three moves, and by the time it’s over, those who should regret have regretted, and what should end has ended.
"Is it really that easy?"
Norbert turned around in shock upon hearing the voice, only to find another completely strange person standing in front of him.
"I thought I’d have to do it myself, but you actually killed him? Wow, lucky me, you’ve saved me a lot of trouble."
Anton was very pleased because although he had pushed Norbert out, he had believed that Norbert would never be a match for the muscular man and that he would ultimately have to resolve everything. Unexpectedly, Norbert had stabbed the man without even knowing how he did it.
Anton was very satisfied because this was the best possible outcome.
He put down his phone, having recorded everything that needed to be recorded. There was no need for him to act personally; the current result was the best one.
"You’re done for, completely done for, you’ve killed a man, and I’ve got it all on tape."
Anton smiled and after speaking to Norbert, he shook his phone at him and said, "Look, here’s the evidence, the whole process of you killing him is on here."
Norbert’s face twitched a few times, then he turned his head and looked blankly at Heidi, saying, "Who is he? Who is he again? What’s happening?"
Heidi was still in shock and panic, screaming loudly, when suddenly Anton yelled, "Shut up!"
His yell caused Heidi to stop screaming; Anton then dug at his ear and said, "He’s right, you do scream well, but now, let me tell you what’s happened. In short, ah, you’ve committed murder."
Pointing at Norbert, Anton’s face turned serious and he said, "Understand? You’ve committed murder, and I have the complete evidence. No matter what, you’re going to jail, you’re finished, not even the best lawyer can save you now, and you..."
Anton looked at Heidi and hesitated for a moment before pointing at the muscular man and asking, "Who is he?"
"My... fitness... trainer, what on earth is going on!"
Anton spread his hands and said, "Just like I guessed, now stop worrying about what happened. In short, both of you are done for, but... "
Anton looked at Norbert and smiled, "But there’s still hope for you. Now, you have three choices: one is to die here with them, two is to confess and go to prison, or three, pretend nothing ever happened, someone else takes the blame, and you can continue living happily just like before. Which one will you choose?"
Norbert didn’t think too much and quickly said in a trembling voice, "What should I do?"
