Spy-x-War Showdown -
Chapter 631 - 638 I Won
Chapter 631: Chapter 638 I Won
Anton was about to go mad with frustration, simply because of the card game that was driving him to the brink of insanity.
Of course, given Anton’s composure, actually going mad with rage was unlikely, but he truly hadn’t been this angry in years.
Mainly because playing cards with Yang Yi and Boer was too dull and also too disheartening. Whenever he got a good hand, they would definitely not follow suit, and if he tried to bluff, he would certainly get caught red-handed.
The stakes were a hundred bucks a pot, and neither Yang Yi nor Boer ever won or lost more than three or four hundred in each hand, whereas Anton, even with his good luck, had not managed to win any money.
The showdown between two experts didn’t look all that impressive, and the card game between two geniuses seemed even more boring. It was very difficult for Yang Yi and Boer to win money from each other, and although there was a winner in every hand, the likelihood of a big win or a big loss was not really possible.
So, it was only Anton who would run into the line of fire, losing his money to Yang Yi or Boer.
Finally, Anton couldn’t take it anymore. With a conflicted expression he said, "Is it fun for you two to play like this? What are you doing, what? Does betting a hundred bucks require hesitation, does it?"
Boer looked at Anton in surprise and said, "It’s interesting, of course it’s interesting. We enjoy gambling itself, not the money. So whether it’s a hundred or a million, there’s actually no difference."
Yang Yi waved his hand and added, "This is a brainstorm, you wouldn’t understand."
Anton’s mouth twitched, then he suddenly smiled and said, "Got it, you should have said so earlier. You enjoy the calculation process, right?"
Boer nodded slightly and replied, "Exactly, that’s what we mean."
Anton chuckled and said, "Looks like I need to use my brain too. But I’m different from you guys. If the stakes are too small, I can’t be bothered to think. How about this, what if we raise the stakes to ten thousand a hand, will that work?"
Boer shrugged his shoulders and said, "Are you sure? Aren’t you going to lose too badly?"
Anton waved his hand and laughed, "No, no, do you think you’re the only one who understands math? I can calculate too. Alright, let’s start. Remember, ten thousand for the base bet, and if we have no cash, we can write it down and settle later."
Boer said nothing more, glanced at his cards, and casually tossed a hundred-dollar note, saying, "Consider this a chip."
After tossing the money onto the table, Boer looked at Yang Yi and asked, "The person I have my eye on, you have to help me. How can I get him to give up his current job and work for me wholeheartedly, and never betray me?"
Anton smiled and asked, "There are many ways, how old is this person?"
"Around 30, still very young. That’s quite young in this field."
"Married, or has a girlfriend?"
"Don’t know."
While talking to Boer, Anton turned up his cards; he had two pairs. Boer also had two pairs, just slightly smaller.
Boer pushed his cards forward with a somewhat annoyed expression because he had lost.
Yang Yi also lost, though he didn’t lose much in this hand. However, Boer had lost a total of fourteen thousand.
After signaling that it was okay to deal the cards again, Boer turned to Yang Yi and said, "Can you help me take care of that guy? Because I really need an assistant."
Yang Yi checked his cards and placed his bet, then after reflecting for a moment, he said, "I can help you, but I don’t have time recently."
Did Boer and Yang Yi really have to play and talk at the same time?
Actually, no. If either of them felt they couldn’t keep up, incapable of multitasking, they could certainly stop playing and focus on business, or they could also stop discussing matters and focus on the game instead.
Yang Yi and Boer both had enough energy to discuss some serious business while calculating cards, but Anton was silent. However, when he spread his cards again, he had once again beaten both Yang Yi and Boer.
Boer was shocked, and after observing Anton for a long time, he finally said with interest, "Welcome to the game, let’s start playing for real."
Only then did Yang Yi remember that it’s said every person in Black Devil is a genius.
So, maybe Anton could be a mathematician too. Who can guarantee such things?
Yang Yi became serious, and so did Boer, because if there were two geniuses and one average person in the game, that average person was destined to lose terribly. After all, weren’t the ones Yang Yi and Boer used to win money from in casinos just those ordinary people?
But now things were different. After getting serious, Anton always managed to come out on top at unexpected moments for both Yang Yi and Boer.
Yang Yi felt like there was something wrong with his calculations, and Boer felt the same way.
Anton didn’t win big or win every time, but he managed to win about two out of five games, which was already a high probability.
Yang Yi tried his best, but he still couldn’t outplay Anton; Boer, on the other hand, started to sweat, wiping his forehead for the first time.
"This isn’t right! It shouldn’t be like this. Where’s the problem?"
Boer suddenly muttered under his breath, then he threw two bills on the table and said in a deep voice, "Twenty thousand."
Yang Yi hesitated before replying, "I’ll match it."
Anton smiled and said, "Oh, it seems this hand is good for everyone, I’m in as well."
After the reveal, Anton won.
"It seems I’m quite lucky today, always getting good cards," he said casually.
Just as Anton was about to collect the money after throwing his cards into the pot, Yang Yi let out a long sigh of relief and then said with a look of satisfaction, "Don’t move, don’t touch it!"
Waving his finger at Anton, Yang Yi held down Anton’s two cards and then smiled, "I’d never have thought you were cheating."
Boer was stunned for a moment before exclaiming, "Cheating, so it was cheating! Fuck! I knew it couldn’t be you winning!"
Anton laughed and said, "Evidence? Without evidence, I don’t acknowledge anything."
Yang Yi pulled a card from the pile and said to Anton, "This card, I made a small mark on it when I got it, a three. You just had this card, but in the end, your three turned into an eight. Can you tell me how that happened?"
Anton shrugged and said, "How would I know? It seems more like you’re the one cheating with all that card marking and memorizing."
Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "Hey, when you’re caught, you should admit it. Acting like this is a bit shameless, don’t you think?"
"Evidence, show me the evidence. You say it’s a three, but how would I know that?"
Boer laughed and said, "No worries, he can cheat, and we can also refuse to accept the bets."
Anton gave a disdainful smile, then said coolly, "I can’t stand people putting on an act in front of us. Think you’re impressive because you have a good memory or because you’re good at math? Let me tell you, you’re all ruined when you come up against me, hmph, pathetic card counting, I can play you to death with a simple card switch."
After expressing his disdain, Anton stood up, and then said to Yang Yi and Boer, "I’m bored playing with you. If you agree to the debt, I’ll take care of the situation for you. If you don’t, no problem, just pretend you never heard this."
Yang Yi ignored Anton, but he said to Boer with a smile, "Not counting what was won by Anton’s cheating, I am the one who won, and I just happen to have won ten thousand from you."
