Chapter 632: Chapter 639: Forced onto Liangshan

Winning or losing is secondary, enjoying the process of using your brain is what’s important.

After confirming the wins and losses with Boer, Yang Yi finally looked towards Anton and said, "Buddy, cheating isn’t good, is it? Especially after cheating and then using your job to blackmail others into recognizing your ill-gotten gains, that’s even worse."

Anton, a bit surprised, responded, "Are you discussing morality with me? Get this straight, you’re trying to constrain me with moral standards?"

Yang Yi was helpless, yes, discussing morality and professional integrity with someone like Anton, what was that if not a pointless endeavor?

"You make a good point. So go get the person Boer wants, however you see fit. Does that sound good?"

Since he couldn’t bind Anton with morals, Yang Yi decided to use authority. After all, Anton wouldn’t get away with being obstinate; he couldn’t be allowed to indulge in that bad habit.

With a sense of resignation, Anton spread his hands and said, "Tell me the name and address."

Boer immediately replied, "His name is Norbert. I don’t know his address; he works at the Frankfurt Investment Bank. I don’t know the specifics; I just noticed him and was quite interested, but I wasn’t able to gather more information."

Anton, annoyed, waved his hand and said, "Got it, I’ll find someone."

Having stood up and started to walk out, Anton stopped and said to Yang Yi, "I’ll ask Hans to help me, and I’ll deliver the person to you within three days."

Yang Yi merely waved his hand, then said to Boer, "Let’s continue."

With Anton, the troublemaker, gone, Yang Yi and Boer’s card game returned to its familiar course, and after playing for roughly three more hours, Boer finally let out a satisfied sigh, then said, "That’s enough for today. It’s good to indulge a little, but we can’t keep playing, or it will be more painful when there’s no one to play with in the future."

Yang Yi packed up the cards and smiled at Boer, "We can play a bit each day for the next three days."

Boer stood up and said, "I’m going to check out the stock market."

Kate gathered the cards and then smiled at Yang Yi, "You haven’t settled yet. Aren’t you going to count how much money you won?"

Yang Yi grinned and said, "If it’s the hundreds, then I won nine hundred; if the bills were chips, then it’s ninety thousand. Oh, I should tip the beautiful croupier, shouldn’t I? Well, these are for you."

Yang Yi pushed all the money on the table toward Kate. After laughing twice, she said, "Thank you."

Checking his watch, Yang Yi stood up and said, "We’re all quite tired. Let’s take a break. We might have to go out later; we could have a lot to deal with these next few days."

Kate nodded but seemed slightly disappointed.

Although the look of disappointment was fleeting, Yang Yi still caught the expression on Kate’s face. However, he didn’t say much, simply went to an empty room usually unoccupied, lay down on the bed, and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Long-distance flights are exhausting, and combined with the mental drain of playing cards, by the time Yang Yi woke up, he found that Anton and Hans had already returned.

After freshening up a bit, Yang Yi went into the living room and said to Anton, "How’d it go? Did you make any progress today?"

Anton, in a laid-back tone, answered, "Today, I just went to clear up that guy Norbert’s background."

Hans chimed in from the side, "I know Norbert. Although we don’t work at the same bank, Norbert’s future looks bright. It might be difficult for him to give up his current position."

Yang Yi looked towards Boer and asked, "What did you do when you wanted to poach someone in the past?"

Boer laughed and said, "Bury him with money until he’s dizzy and disoriented. Everyone has their price. Just pay up, and naturally, you can poach him. If I were able to make a move myself, why would I need your help?"

Anton continued in a lazy tone, "To poach him in a normal way would be a bit tight with just three days. So, I think we must use a special method."

Yang Yi chuckled, "How so?"

"First, destroy him. When the only one who can save him is us, he won’t have a choice."

Yang Yi frowned and asked, "Destroy him? How would we do that?"

Anton said dismissively, "There are so many ways, so many that I don’t even know how to begin to tell you."

No matter what method they used, the goal was to corner him into a desperate situation. Yet, Yang Yi felt somewhat remorseful about it—coveting someone and then scheming to ruin them seemed excessively cruel.

While Yang Yi hesitated, Boer was full of enthusiasm and asked, "So, how do we do it? Do you need me to cooperate? What should I do?"

Anton glanced at Yang Yi, then said to Boer, "If it’s your guy, then you come out as the savior in the end. If it’s the boss’s man, then let the boss come out as the savior."

Yang Yi frowned, "How do we make him willingly work for us?"

Spreading his hands, Anton replied, "That’s what I’m worried about. You want to poach him without being the bad guy. If you want him to willingly work for you and ensure his loyalty, that would take at least six months, and it still might not succeed. People’s hearts are complicated, and it’s not easy to win them over."

Yang Yi spoke seriously, "What if we need a quicker method?"

Anton stretched out three fingers, thought for a moment, and then retracted one, saying, "Destroy everything he has, then give him everything he needs and wants, and make sure he wouldn’t dare to even think about rebelling. Two days should be enough."

Yang Yi was conflicted, but as he struggled with his conscience, Boer was brimming with excitement, "That quick? That’s great; I can’t wait too long. Let’s go with the quick way."

Anton didn’t respond to Boer but instead looked at Yang Yi.

Finally, Yang Yi sighed inwardly and gave up the struggle.

This facade of virtue, perhaps it’s best not to uphold it.

Having made his decision, Yang Yi felt it unnecessary for everyone to swear loyalty to him. As an underling looking to expand his influence, he couldn’t control everyone personally.

Most importantly, although Yang Yi didn’t have a fixation on morality, he didn’t want to associate too much with someone who was forced into a corner. So as long as Boer’s loyalty was assured, that was enough; and if Boer wanted to build his own team, then let him do so.

"The people Boer wants should of course be handled by Boer."

After receiving Yang Yi’s response, Anton nodded and then said to Hans, "We’re pressed for time. I need to make some preparations. Do you want to come along?"

Hans happily responded, "Sure, what’s your plan?"

After contemplating, Anton replied, "What about planting drugs? No, drug possession isn’t a big enough charge. Let’s frame him for drug trafficking instead."

Hans shook his head and said, "No, no, no, as a rising star in finance, Norbert has no reason to traffic drugs. It would be better to frame him for economic and duty-related crimes. That would completely destroy his career."
