Chapter 630: Chapter 637: Taking a Liking to Someone

Actually, there hadn’t been much fighting during this time, but Yang Yi still felt extremely tired and short of breath, so upon arriving in Germany, he did find himself catching a few breathers amidst the busyness.

Germany had a few idlers, and Boer was making money in the financial center of Frankfurt using the methods he knew best, so he had things to do and was quite busy.

Gweil was also occupied with his work, having his own laboratory and seemingly busy tinkering with who knows what. Although he wasn’t needed now, just knowing that Gweil would have the necessary poison ready when required was enough.

But Hank was incredibly bored. He was a thief, and a very skilled one at that, but now he couldn’t go about his business of sneaking and lock-picking, which made him very frustrated.

Actually, Hank didn’t lack money. A large part of his stealing was more about the thrill, but after being brought into the Organization of Water, he no longer dared to act on his own. Even if he saw something he wanted, he wouldn’t dare to steal it out of fear that the organization would silence him for good.

When Yang Yi and the others arrived at their Frankfurt safe house, they found Boer and Hank playing cards.

Hank had lost until his face was the color of earth, while Boer, despite having a large stack of bills in front of him, looked unsatisfied, as if he were the one who had lost.

Playing poker with Boer, does Hank not know what ’death’ means?

And when Boer saw Yang Yi, he felt as if light had finally come into his world.

Boer was a genius, a genius in math.

Yang Yi was also a genius, a superhuman memory genius.

Boer never played cards just to win money; he needed an opportunity to use his extraordinary talent.

Yang Yi also didn’t play cards to win money; winning money was just a side effect of his playing.

When Boer first escaped to the United States, he was like a dog that had lost its home, not in the mood to play, but as time passed and he gradually settled down, his long-suppressed desires started to erupt.

Boer didn’t dare step foot in any casinos or play cards with anyone who could pose a challenge, aside from casual online play, for which he had to frequently change his identity to hide his true one.

But Boer was eager to gamble, so eventually, he extended his wretched grasp toward Hank.

And so, Hank had lost catastrophically.

But now, Boer had finally seen Yang Yi, who happened to be free these past couple of days.

Boer stood up and then, with a slightly trembling voice, said to Yang Yi, "Come, let’s play cards first."

And Hank, like seeing a savior, told Yang Yi, "Boss, help me win back my money!"

Yang Yi laughed and said, "Why should I help you win money? Shouldn’t I be winning it for myself if it comes to that?"

Seeing Hank’s frustration, Boer, with an impatient face, pushed the money on the table towards Hank and said, "Take it all, it’s all yours. Now you can go stand aside."

Hank angrily said, "Bastard! It’s not the money I care about, it’s your attitude, what are you so proud of?"

Although he sounded quite dissatisfied, Hank didn’t move slowly at all, scooping all the money from the table into his hands.

Yang Yi looked at Boer and smiled, "Alright, let’s play then."

Boer took a deep breath, then spoke in a solemn voice, "How about Texas Hold’em?"

"Sure, Texas Hold’em it is."

Boer looked at Kate and said, "Would you mind dealing the cards?"

Kate shrugged and replied, "I’m not very good at it, but sure, I’ll deal for you guys."

Anton smiled from the sideline, "How big are you playing, can we join in?"

Boer was stunned for a moment, then after staring at Anton for a good ten seconds, he asked Yang Yi, "How big?"

Yang Yi said with a smile, "Doesn’t matter. Anton, just play as big as you’re comfortable with."

With an air of confidence, Anton said, "Let’s keep it small then, a hundred Euro minimum, no ceiling."

Boer immediately said, "Good, let’s start. Hank, please get me a martini, thank you."

Hank snapped back angrily, "I’m not your damn servant! Asshole!"

After cursing, Hank turned to Yang Yi and said, "What would you like to drink, boss?"

"Anything, thanks."

Kate sat down at the coffee table to deal the cards, while Yang Yi and the other two dragged over chairs. When the first hand was dealt, all three simultaneously flipped over their hole cards.

Placing a bill on the coffee table, Boer, the first in line, said in a serious tone, "I’ve set my sights on someone."

"Oh? Who have you set your sights on?"

Yang Yi threw his cards away immediately. His hole cards weren’t good, and since this was the first hand, he wanted to wait and see.

"I can’t reveal myself here. There are many things I simply can’t do, so until now I’ve only made a little over ten million US dollars."

Yang Yi kept his composure, but Anton looked at Boer with surprise and then tossed a bill onto the coffee table, "You made that much?"

After another community card was flipped, Boer didn’t follow. He said in a heavy voice to Yang Yi, "That’s why I need someone capable to help me. I’ve found a suitable person, but it’s tough to get him to leave his current position."

Yang Yi said indifferently, "First tell me who it is."

At that moment, Anton, extremely dissatisfied, said, "What kind of game is this if you’re not following? I have a pair of Aces!"

Boer ignored Anton and continued, "The person is an operator at the Frankfurt Investment Bank. I’ve been observing him for a while and he’s not bad."

The second hand was dealt, and after mulling over his cards, Yang Yi put down a hundred Euro, and Boer also thought for a while before placing a hundred.

Anton, very dissatisfied, said, "It’s only a hundred Euro. What’s there to think about for so long?"

Yang Yi whispered, "What’s your plan?"

"I just choose the people, you’re responsible for bringing them to me. Shouldn’t it be like that?"

Anton, appearing impatient, said, "Are you guys playing or not?"

Yang Yi looked at the community cards, pondered for a moment, then chose to fold, and after a slightly longer moment of thought, Boer folded too.

Anton looked as if he had seen a ghost, then shouted, "I want to see your hole cards! Why didn’t you follow with such good hands?"

As if it were the most natural thing in the world, Yang Yi said, "The probability of me getting three of a kind is sixteen percent, while his chances of getting a straight are about two percent. Getting higher than a King is around eighty percent for him, and your chances of getting a flush are thirty-five percent. Why should we follow?"

Anton’s mouth fell open as he stared blankly at Yang Yi and Boer, then he tossed his cards on the table and exclaimed, "Fuck! Is this even playing cards?"

Anton’s hole cards were turned over, revealing indeed a flush. As for Boer, he really had nothing but a high card, so what made Anton angry was not catching Yang Yi’s three of a kind but just winning the blinds.
