Chapter 565 - 573: Blind

Chapter 565: Chapter 573: Blind

Having taken the time to meet with Boer, Yang Yi was quite satisfied, especially with Boer’s attitude.

Boer was very cautious in Frankfurt, and now he had also come to understand his own identity. Although he couldn’t call Yang Yi "boss" or "chief" like others, at least Boer no longer considered himself the big boss.

Furthermore, Boer really had a knack for financial management and held a very proper attitude towards money. Yang Yi was indeed tempted to entrust his money to Boer.

Just think about it, if he were to give Boer a hundred million, Boer would dare to guarantee a profit of at least twenty million in one year. This temptation was too great.

But Yang Yi still needed to wait. The matter of financial management could be postponed, as his main purpose for coming to Frankfurt was for an intelligence analyst.

However, upon first arriving in Frankfurt, he didn’t go to see Hans, but Boer instead. The sole reason was that they had arrived on a Sunday, and Hans was not at work, nor did Anton know where Hans’s home was.

But today was Monday, the stock exchange was open, and the investment banks were working normally.

The intelligence analyst that Organization of Water needed was currently a stock analyst.

To be referred to as a "master," one must have achieved something significant. Hans had his own office, and anyone wishing to see him needed to make an appointment.

"Are you sure Hans Schneider hasn’t changed his name?"

"Not sure, but I think he probably hasn’t adopted a false name."

"So, are you certain he works at this bank?"

"I was certain five years ago; now I’m not sure, but one can find out simply by asking."

Yang Yi breathed a sigh and then said in a deep voice, "Alright, I’ll go ask!"

Investment banks differed from ordinary commercial banks; there were no teller counters here, only a large office hall and a series of private offices.

Yang Yi approached the reception and smiled at a female receptionist in her twenties, "Hello, I would like to see Mr. Hans Schneider."

Yang Yi spoke in English, and the receptionist was equally fluent in English.

"Hello, do you have an appointment?"

Yang Yi shook his head and then smiled, "I don’t have an appointment, but could you give Mr. Schneider a call? I’m sure he would be very happy to see me."

The receptionist’s professional smile didn’t waver as she replied, "I’m sorry, if you have Mr. Schneider’s phone number, you can contact him yourself. If you don’t have it, I’m unable to make that call for you, as Mr. Schneider does not handle private business."

Yang Yi did not give up; with a confident and charming smile, he said, "Please, do me a favor. Believe me, Mr. Schneider will definitely be pleased about my visit. Could you just make the call?"

"I’m sorry, I can’t. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

The receptionist’s message was clear; if he had no other business, he should please move away. Thus, Yang Yi’s confident and charming smile, along with his handsome face, were to no avail.

Just then, Anton approached the desk and tapped on it, then said in German, "Hello."

Yang Yi found Anton’s smile quite average, and his face wasn’t all that handsome. Frankly speaking, his attire was just okay, but who knows why the receptionist’s smile became less professional when directed at Anton.

Anton was clearly receiving the kind of treatment a woman gives when she sees a handsome man.

But honestly, Anton was not handsome at all.

Yang Yi wasn’t jealous of Anton; he just genuinely felt annoyed.

So it must be that the receptionist was blind, nothing more.

Anton and the receptionist were having a cheerful chat, prattling on in German endlessly, and then even another receptionist in her thirties couldn’t help but join their conversation.

Five minutes after Anton had spoken, the older receptionist suddenly laughed a few times and then picked up the phone. Her movement seemed to slightly displease the younger hostess nearby, the kind of displeasure one gets when someone does the thing you wanted to do first.

Regardless, even though the two women had questionable taste and were probably blind, Anton had at least got the job done. Yang Yi’s discontent immediately turned into appreciation for Anton. The old guy could actually put his good looks to use, which was an unexpected discovery.

Soon, the older receptionist handed the phone to Anton. After Anton took the call, he said something in German and promptly gave the phone back to the receptionist.

Following that, Yang Yi and Anton left the front desk and went to Hans’s office.

After leaving the reception area, Yang Yi finally asked, "What did you say to them?"

Anton smiled and said, "Nothing much."

Yang Yi eyed Anton skeptically and said, "Brother, are you a bit proud of yourself?"

Anton shrugged and replied, "I just mentioned that Hans and I are old friends, but from many years ago. Then I didn’t bring up Hans again, instead, I talked about that woman’s makeup, mainly flattery."

"That’s it? You chatted about makeup with a woman who was working?"

"Yes."

"That works?"

"Is there a problem?"

"Just surprised, so what did you say to Hans that got him to agree to meet with you?"

"I said I was his colleague from Normannenstrasse 7 in Berlin, wanting to see him."

"What’s that place?"

"The Stasi headquarters."

"Oh..."

Yang Yi said with a look of realization, "So that’s it. But now I’m quite surprised that Hans Schneider, being a member of the Stasi, hasn’t changed his name."

Yang Yi and Anton entered the elevator and went up to the executive offices. They stopped in front of a door marked Hans Schneider, and with just a light tap, someone inside bellowed loudly, "Come in."

Yang Yi pushed the door open and entered, with Anton following closely behind.

The office wasn’t very large but was nicely arranged, with a middle-aged man sporting a beautifully groomed beard sitting behind the desk.

The middle-aged man stood up, walked to the front of the desk, and looked intently at Yang Yi and Anton, quickly fixing his gaze on Anton as he said in a deep voice, "I don’t know you."

Anton stepped forward, extending his hand with a smile, "Hello."

Hans and Anton shook hands, and then Hans spoke in a serious tone, "What brings you here?"

Anton smiled and said, "I am from the KGB."

Hans let out a small sigh and said, "The KGB, it’s actually the KGB. I thought it was the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution coming for me."

Anton smiled and replied, "I am from the Soviet KGB, not the Russian KGB, which means, to some extent, I am like you."

Hans’s eyebrows raised subtly, then he nodded and smiled, "So, how shall I address you? Comrade?"

Anton put on a very sentimental expression and said, "Comrade, I haven’t heard that term in a long while. If you like, you can call me comrade. If you are just joking or mocking me, then never mind."
