Chapter 466: Chapter 454: Arctic Fox

Yang Yi and his companions boarded the plane, and then, in the upper-class cabin, the Aurora people began to change their clothes.

Each person had a black bag that seemed to bear no name, but the people of Aurora took what must have been their own bags and started to change.

The plane wasn’t in a hurry to take off, because the real Flight 176 from Philadelphia to Kyiv would take much longer than from Khartoum.

Yang Yi watched from the adjacent cabin as the Aurora people changed. They wore black combat uniforms, over which they donned black bulletproof vests, followed by black balaclavas, and finally topped with black helmets—in short, they were dressed in black from head to toe.

The guns were all American-style: the rifles were M4s, and the handguns were mostly M9s and M1911s, but there were also a few Glock 17s.

The equipment of the Aurora Mercenary Corps must have been prepared in advance, and not hastily assembled after Alexander decided to seize the gold, since much of the gear showed signs of use. This was good because it wouldn’t seem realistic if everything was brand new.

As for both the clothing and the equipment, there wasn’t a single piece that had any markings. Even the military boots and gloves were of American style—not to say that these items were all made in the United States, but that they were most commonly used by the U.S. military and many secret forces.

There were no insignia, but anyone knowledgeable could instantly tell there was a tangled relationship between the Aurora Mercenary Corps and the United States. However, Yang Yi still felt somewhat uneasy.

"Could our attire be too uniform? We don’t know the specific identity of the other party, nor whether they have any uniform clothing. Will it make us more conspicuous and easier to expose?"

Alexander shook his head and laughed, "We can’t make the gear specifically mimic any one military unit, but wearing these clothes and using this equipment definitely won’t make American forces think we’re not their kind at first glance. If we knew the specific identity of our target, along with hand signals and formations, we could mimic any U.S. special forces unit, SEALs, Delta Force, you name it, and we guarantee you couldn’t tell the difference."

In fact, Yang Yi wouldn’t have been able to tell anyway. He wasn’t from the military nor really mixed up in the mercenary circles—he didn’t have the eye for it.

Yang Yi looked at Alexander and asked, "You seem to have done this sort of thing quite a bit, huh?"

Alexander smiled and replied, "Being a mercenary is dangerous, with too many enemies to make retirement difficult. I wouldn’t want to earn enough money only to find I can’t get out. So it’s always right to keep some secrets."

Yang Yi asked curiously, "Could you imitate Russian military units as well?"

Alexander laughed, but didn’t answer Yang Yi’s question.

Justin, admiringly remarked from the side, "Professional! Worthy of the title ’Arctic Fox’ amongst mercenary groups, the disguise is impressive. It’s a pity you don’t take orders anymore, otherwise who else could we trust with confidential missions if not Aurora!"

Chris had been observing Aurora Mercenary Corps getting dressed, deep in thought, and at that moment, he finally made up his mind.

"I’ll wear a suit," he suddenly declared and then said solemnly, "I’m going to change clothes."

Alexander waved his hand and said, "The first-class cabin above is yours."

Yang Yi and the three others headed to the first-class cabin at the front of the plane. After entering, Yang Yi turned to Justin and said, "Did you just mention ’Arctic Fox’ mercenary group?"

Justin nodded, "Yeah, Aurora Mercenary Corps is also known as the Arctic Fox Mercenary Group. Few people know where that name comes from, but now you do, right? Aside from the fact that most of them are from Scandinavia, it’s because their ability to disguise is so strong. Think about it, a snow-white Arctic fox hidden in the snowfields—can you tell it apart?"

Yang Yi nodded repeatedly, "Makes sense, hmm, really makes sense!"

Kate found a spot to sit down quietly and whispered to Yang Yi, "Should we put on makeup?"

Yang Yi thought about it and said, "Makeup, if the plan fails, we might have to run for our lives."

Justin pleaded urgently, "Please also give me a disguise; I don’t want anyone recognizing my handsome face."

Chris started to change clothes; Kate began to apply makeup to Yang Yi, and after altering both his and Justin’s appearances to the point where even they couldn’t recognize themselves, the plane was finally towed by the tug.

Just then, Yang Yi’s phone rang. After answering the call, he heard Brian whisper, "The vault has started moving. A heavy panel van has just pulled away, escorted by ten vehicles. By the looks of it, it’s heavily loaded and heading for Kyiv airport."

Yang Yi hung up the phone, nodded to Justin, and said, "The gold has been transported out, heading to Kyiv airport."

Justin snapped his fingers and laughed, "Exactly, that’s how it should be!"

The plane was towed to the runway and then waited a while longer. Three whole hours after receiving the news that the real Flight 176 had taken off, the engines of Yang Yi’s plane finally roared to life.

The plane began to move slowly and then picked up speed, faster and faster, until, with a jolt, it leaped into the sky.

Justin made the sign of the cross in front of his chest and whispered solemnly, "God bless!"

The plane took off, joining the commercial flight lane, and then started flying northward.

Chris quickly changed his clothes, but after sitting in his chair for a while, he suddenly stood up again to adjust his attire.

Not to crease his trousers sharply or keep his shirt sleeves and collar pristine white, Chris rubbed his shirt collar back and forth on the seat and after rubbing his hands through his sweaty, unwashed hair from the daytime, he smeared it onto his shirt collar.

Neither Yang Yi nor Justin found Chris’s movements strange.

If someone has flown for more than ten hours and was likely busy even before the take-off, it would be impossible for them to be too neat. Stuck in a seat for a long time, a suit can’t remain creaseless.

After fussing with his appearance for quite some time, Chris finally sat back down contentedly and then put on a pair of gold-rimmed glasses.

Careful selection of clothes and matching of glasses was crucial. After watching Chris finish his preparations, Justin smiled and said, "You’re going to play the role of an assistant?"

Chris nodded and smiled at Justin, "Yes, sir."

Chris had already begun entering his role. Justin waved his hand and said, "Carry on, I won’t disturb you."

Yang Yi now felt time moving slowly. Finally, Alexander walked into first class and said in a deep voice, "We will soon enter Ukrainian airspace. Are we going straight to Kyiv to land, or do we need to circle and wait?"

Yang Yi pondered for a moment, calculating the arrival time of the real Flight 176, and after a moment, he declared firmly, "Directly to Kyiv!"
