Chapter 464: Chapter 452 Emotional Intelligence

Justin’s private plane was a Bombardier Global 5000, parked on the runway of Kyiv airport.

Actually, private planes aren’t that convenient; the airports they take off from, land in, and where they are parked on a regular basis, as well as where they’re maintained and the application for flight routes—these factors mean private planes can’t just fly whenever one wishes.

However, for someone at Justin’s level, the routes his private plane can fly and the airports it can land at are a reflection of his capabilities. If Justin couldn’t handle something like taking off from Kyiv airport at any time, then he might as well not be in the game at all.

The maximum range of the Global 5000 could reach nearly ten thousand kilometers, a genuine intercontinental private jet, but the internal space of the cabin wasn’t particularly large. It could accommodate up to seventeen people and a flight crew of three, but this seating arrangement would make the cabin cramped and the private jet not so comfortable.

Those who could afford private planes definitely prioritize enjoyment, so the most common cabin layout for the Global 5000 is eight seats, meaning it could carry a maximum of eight passengers.

Justin’s plane had been modified; the front half of the cabin had two large and comfortable seats, followed by three somewhat smaller seats, and then six quite simple seats towards the back, which meant Justin’s plane could accommodate eleven passengers.

Upon boarding the plane, Alexander unceremoniously sat down in the best seat.

Seating arrangements are truly a tricky matter. With three bosses on the plane, Alexander seized one of the best seats without hesitation. The question was whether the remaining good seat was for Yang Yi or for Justin, which was rather difficult to manage.

Logically, Yang Yi’s status didn’t compare to Justin’s, but he was in a cooperative relationship with Justin, not his subordinate. If Justin were to directly assign him to a lesser seat towards the back, it would be quite a loss of face for Yang Yi.

That’s why they say Justin has high emotional intelligence. After Alexander sat down, he immediately pointed to the seat opposite Alexander and smiled, "You two are responsible for the specifics, please have a seat. I think surely you’ll need to discuss tactics and the like."

Justin gave up the best spot smoothly and reasonably, while Yang Yi shook his head and smiled, "No, I’ll sit with them. We all need to apply makeup during this time, and later, when we need to deal with Roy, someone will have to make an appearance. Besides, we should also discuss the specific details."

Justin replied with a cheerful face, "Oh, is that so? Please, feel free to sit anywhere."

Yang Yi didn’t need any makeup. If makeup were truly necessary, there would be plenty of time on the Boeing 747 later, where the first-class cabin was much more spacious than this one.

Justin sat down across from Alexander and then said with an expectant face, "If this is successful, I’ll buy my own private jet, a Gulfstream G650. I’ve already got my eye on one."

Alexander laughed, "Isn’t this one yours?"

Justin shrugged and replied, "I only have use of it, so I hope this time we’ll succeed."

Just then, the pilot from the front announced, "Sir, we’ve been given clearance to take off."

Justin waved his hand and said, "Take off."

The plane quickly took off and once it began to fly smoothly, Alexander, without a word, adjusted his seat to a comfortable position, leaned back, and started to sleep. Justin too put on a sleep mask and headphones, and soon began to snore.

Alexander and Justin were undoubtedly accustomed to being high flyers; they dealt with matters when need be, and when there was nothing to attend to, they seized every opportunity to rest.

Yang Yi leaned in closer to Chris and whispered, "What do you plan to do when the time comes?"

Chris whispered back, "What do you mean?"

"Of course, I mean how you’re going to hand over the gold to Roy. I’ve been thinking, Roy and the person coming to pick up the gold must be working for the same boss, so it’s very likely that Roy will recognize the person. It’s a difficult situation that we can’t avoid, and I’ve been trying to think of a way to handle it without blowing our cover."

Chris whispered, "I don’t know yet. We’ll have to play it by ear when the time comes. Right now, the only thing I’m considering is whether to wear a suit, combat gear or maybe just something that looks very ordinary."

Yang Yi whispered, "Don’t you set up several possible scenarios in advance and think about how to deal with them when the time comes?"

Chris shook his head, "I never set up any scenarios. When you’re conning someone, anything can happen, and it’s never as you’ve already anticipated. If you have imagined it, it’s not an accident anymore. So, my principle is to adapt to the situation on the fly, and never to play by the book."

As an Asian, there were many times when it was inconvenient for Yang Yi to take the lead, such as impersonating an American of unknown affiliation. It made more sense to have Chris, a real American, take the stage than to have him do it himself. And since he had decided to leave the matter to Chris, he had to go along with his habits.

Yang Yi stopped bothering Chris and started chatting quietly with Kate.

With the company of a beautiful woman, time seemed to fly by. The four-hour flight passed quickly, and the private jet landed smoothly at Khartoum Airport.

Khartoum Airport was rather primitive. Originally a dual-use airport for both military and civilian flights, but since civilian flights began operating from Enthuman Airport in 2010, Khartoum Airport had become purely military. Otherwise, Alexander’s private plane wouldn’t have been allowed to remain parked there.

Justin’s private jet left immediately after landing.

Yang Yi and his group didn’t head to the terminal, nor were there any staff to receive them. Only Alexander talked briefly to a man who looked like an officer from a distance before returning to Yang Yi and the others.

Alexander got onto a tow truck and drove it straight to where Yang Yi and the others were, saying, "Hop on; it’s quite a walk to the hangar."

The only sensation Yang Yi felt was the heat. Just coming from Ukraine, where it was just entering spring, to the heat of Sudan was hard to bear. Although the plane tug didn’t have any real seats, being flat and low, at least they didn’t have to walk under the sun to the hangar.

Alexander drove the tow truck to the front of a hangar.

A hangar that could hold a Boeing 747 was definitely big, but this one wasn’t the encapsulated type. Instead, it had walls on two sides and a big canopy on top, with both the front and back open. It would be more accurate to call it a shelter than a hangar.

There were already about twenty people in the hangar; most of them were sitting beside the plane. Only two were standing on a scaffold, busy with something behind an engine.

Seeing Alexander, the group sitting on the plastic chairs began to wave at him.

Alexander didn’t show any intention of introducing Yang Yi and the others. After jumping off the truck, he only smiled and said, "I heard there’s ice cream?"
