Chapter 432: Chapter 420 This is the Intelligence

Jethro hadn’t even changed his clothes; he was still wearing the bloodstained shirt that had continued to soak in blood while he and his bodyguard were forced to squeeze into the back seat to escape.

Yang Yi didn’t even know the name of the wounded bodyguard, but Jethro truly cared about his bodyguard, so he was very happy upon learning that his bodyguard would survive.

Finally having a chance to sit down, Jethro collapsed weakly into a chair, and then he fished a pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket with his bloodstained hand, pulled out one, and put it into his mouth before immediately taking a deep drag.

After exhaling a puff of smoke, Jethro turned to Yang Yi and the others, then raised the cigarette in his bloodied left hand and said in a grave voice, "Hey, anyone want one?"

Zhang Yong walked over, took a cigarette from the pack, and asked those behind him, "Anyone else?"

Zhang Yong tossed the cigarette to Rodriguez and then took another for himself; Jethro snapped the lighter on, and Zhang Yong leaned in to light his cigarette, followed by Rodriguez.

Taking another deep drag, Jethro shook his head and said somberly, "Today was just an accident, like a train coming off its tracks, and what I need to do is get the train back on the right track as soon as possible."

After his cryptic remark, Jethro sighed and said, "I was ambushed today; I owe it all to you guys, or I would have been done for. Right now, I’m very angry because today I was forced to leave behind eight hundred thousand US dollars in cash, but more importantly, I lost a lot of men — men who have been with me for many years. The longest had been with me for eight years, the shortest for three and half, and today they all died before my eyes."

Shaking his hand, Jethro pursed his lips tightly and said, "This is a war, isn’t it? War always comes with death."

Zhang Yong said in a serious tone, "Go take a shower and change your clothes."

Jethro shook his head and replied, "That’s secondary, brother. I’ve been in this business for many years. Today’s event is nothing; I’ve been through worse. So although I’m feeling terrible right now, I’ve got to finish what I need to do."

Jethro threw the cigarette to the ground and stamped it out with his foot, then turned to Yang Yi and said, "You saved me today, and I need to show my gratitude. So, do you want to talk to me alone, or shall we just talk now?"

Yang Yi replied in a stern voice, "It’s fine to speak here, no need for private talk."

Jethro pondered for a moment, then said, "Justin wasn’t wrong. Your combat skills are strong. Today there was a battle, so there should be a combat bonus. One hundred thousand. I’ll pay you guys one hundred thousand dollars; you’ve earned it."

After speaking, Jethro called out loudly, "Boya, bring over one hundred thousand dollars in cash."

After a short wait, a young man came over with a bundle of cash; Jethro took it in his hands and then said to Yang Yi, "Come take the money, it’s yours now."

Yang Yi went over and took the money from Jethro’s hands, then said in a serious voice, "Thank you."

"No, no need to thank me. It’s what you deserve. It’s a combat bonus. As for saving me, that’s something you were supposed to do because I paid you. However, I must say thank you; thank you for saving me."

Yang Yi began to admire Jethro, because even after facing drastic changes, Jethro still appeared as calm as ever. He might have seemed a bit coarse, but he was indeed a tough guy.

After speaking, Jethro stood up and said solemnly, "There’s nothing more to do here. Gentlemen, you can go and rest. I’ll let you know if there’s anything."

No further explanation was needed, for Jethro had no need to explain to the mercenaries he had hired why they had been attacked.

Yang Yi and the others returned to their stopover point, and he promptly opened the bundle of banknotes and said loudly, "Same old rule; ten thousand each. The remaining twenty thousand goes to me for provisioning. Alright, come take your money."

Rodriguez grabbed a stack of bills, his face beaming as he said, "That’s quite a profit; just earned an extra ten thousand."

Zhang Yong said with disdain, "Enough, that’s all you aspire to, getting excited over just ten thousand dollars."

Rodriguez didn’t care about Zhang Yong’s scorn, flipping through the bills with his hand and exclaiming loudly, "I’d never even seen so much money together before. Oh, hey, guys, look at this!"

Rodriguez lifted the cover of his bulletproof vest and pointed to a white dot on the armor plate, saying, "I was shot, but I’m totally fine. I didn’t even realize I was hit; I was too excited!"

Zhang Yong bent down to look at the bullet hole in the armor plate and said, "Don’t move; let me check."

After prying the bullet out of the armor plate, Zhang Yong examined the severely deformed bullet in his palm and then said, "5.45 caliber, no problem."

Rodriguez, looking exhilarated, declared, "I hit someone too, really, I did! I saw it clear as day!"

Xiao Ran said contemptuously, "I hit six."

Looking at Rodriguez’s excited demeanor, Yang Yi asked in puzzlement, "Don’t you guys feel any guilt?"

"Why should we feel guilty?"

Yang Yi shook his head and said, "Nothing, it’s just me being nosy. Alright, let’s replenish our ammo. It’s still early, and I’m worried that Jethro might retaliate today, so we might need to move out again. Don’t be in a rush to take off your gear."

Brian said in a serious voice, "Jethro has no bodyguards left by his side now, not a single one."

Yang Yi also thought of this. The dead were dead, the injured were injured; Jethro definitely didn’t have any bodyguards left, so if he wanted to do anything next, he would probably be relying heavily on Trident.

"So it’s very likely that we will be relied upon by Jethro, which is advantageous for us."

Being in closer contact with Jethro would naturally provide more opportunities to gather information, but Yang Yi felt that Jethro would certainly need to recruit some trusted aides. They were mercenaries after all, and no matter what, Jethro could not possibly entrust his safety to a group of hired guns.

Therefore, Jethro would definitely have to find reliable bodyguards, but Trident would surely get more opportunities. If Jethro had no time to find new bodyguards, or couldn’t wait for them to arrive, it would be highly beneficial for Yang Yi.

Getting information on Deyo Marcel was critical to Jethro.

And the events of today held information not to be claimed as highly valuable, but certainly of some value.

Since it was information, timeliness had to be ensured, so it was time for Yang Yi to give Justin a call.
