Chapter 397: Chapter 385 New Journey

Helsinki.

As the capital of Finland, Helsinki is the largest and southernmost city. Although it is not within the Arctic Circle, daylight hours here in winter are still only about five to six hours.

Helsinki theoretically does not experience polar night, but it’s very common for the sun not to be seen for two whole months here. This is because, when it snows or rains, the sun is hidden, and even without precipitation, the sky is easily enveloped by thick clouds. Therefore, sunlight is a luxury in Helsinki’s winter.

Kate considerately helped Yang Yi into a coat, but when they stepped out from the warm airport, Yang Yi couldn’t help but shiver from the cold.

"It’s so cold here!"

Yang Yi instinctively wrapped his coat tighter around himself, while Xiao Ran checked her phone, then said loudly, "I checked earlier, today’s sunrise is at eight forty-five, and sunset is at three thirty-six, but why isn’t there any sunshine? Did I miss something while I was sleeping?"

The sun should have been in the sky since it hadn’t reached sunset yet, but the sky was dark, with streetlights all lit up.

"You missed the thick layer of clouds."

Yang Yi answered Xiao Ran’s question with a smile, then waved his hand, "Let’s walk forwards, someone should be here to meet us."

Kate pushed Yang Yi forward on the somewhat slippery ground for a few steps, and then a middle-aged man with a thick beard approached them.

The middle-aged man came up to Yang Yi, looked him in the eye for a moment, then extended his hand and said, "Hello, I am Kanelva."

Yang Yi shook hands with Kanelva and replied, "I’m Sea God."

Kanelva stepped back, his face expressionless, and said, "Please follow me."

Xiao Ran couldn’t help but ask, "Have our supplies arrived?"

"They have, and everything is taken care of. Please follow me."

The weather in Helsinki was cold, and the people of Helsinki seemed cold as well.

After making a welcoming gesture towards Yang Yi and his companions, Kanelva led the way to the parking lot.

A minibus was parked in the lot, and after having Yang Yi and the others board, Kanelva said nothing more, just drove out of the airport.

Xiao Ran leaned in towards Kanelva, who was driving, and smiled, "Hello, where are we going? Is it far?"

"Not far."

Kanelva had a smile on his face, but even in front of a beautiful woman, his words did not become any more frequent.

Yang Yi thought they would arrive soon, but Kanelva drove north for over two hours, completely leaving the Helsinki city area behind.

The outside was pitch black, with nothing visible, except for the intermittent lights of passing cars on the road. Just when Yang Yi was about to lose his patience, Kanelva finally stopped the car.

However, the car stopped beside a frozen lake.

Kanelva turned his head, pointed towards the lake, and said to Yang Yi, "Head onto the lake. There’s an airplane there; board it directly, and it will take you to your destination."

Yang Yi was taken aback, then he said, "Not near Helsinki?"

"Correct."

"Where are we going?"

"You’ll know when we get there."

Brian coughed lightly and then said in a deep voice, "Don’t waste any more time, get on the plane."

Zhang Yong and Rodriguez lifted Yang Yi, wheelchair and all, from the car, and then they walked about a hundred meters on the ice to a small plane.

The door of the plane opened, and an old man got out. He looked at Yang Yi and the others but didn’t speak; he just stood inside the doorway and waved them in.

The cockpit was separate from the cabin. When Yang Yi was helped onto the plane, he noticed that there were ten seats inside. More seats had been at the back, but they’d been removed to make room for a cargo hold, making this a small, dual-purpose passenger and cargo plane.

Yang Yi and the others’ equipment was tossed into the cargo hold at the back.

Gradually, everyone boarded the plane, and after the old man made sure everyone was on board, he closed the cabin door, walked into the cockpit, shut its door, and then the plane took off immediately.

No one had told Yang Yi and the others where they were going, or if there was anything they should pay attention to. Just like that, they were thrown onto a plane with no knowledge of their destination.

After the plane took off, Brian smiled and said, "It seems we’re headed for a very remote place."

Yang Yi, feeling anxious, said, "Yes, it’s definitely far away, but what I’m more worried about is where the plane will land. If it’s an airport, that’s fine, but if our pilot is going to land on the surface of a lake again, in the pitch-dark night, when you can’t see anything, I suddenly have some regrets, Brian."

Brian chuckled, "Scared?"

"Not scared, I just think it would be such a waste if we were to die in a plane crash."

Zhang Yong laughed from behind, "That’s still being scared. Actually, it’s not that bad. You take a few small plane rides in Africa, and you’ll know what fear is."

Brian laughed heartily, "That’s right, although the Finns aren’t very expressive, they are still very reliable. Alright, get some sleep. If you can wake up after we land, you won’t be scared anymore."

Yang Yi didn’t know if the others were scared, but he truly was, which is why time seemed to crawl by for him, and he found himself checking his watch every few minutes.

After flying for over two hours, Kate suddenly exclaimed, "Look! The aurora!"

Yang Yi turned his head and looked out the window. The previously pitch-black night sky suddenly lit up with a band of green light that waved slowly through the air like a ribbon or cloud, emitting a magnificent glow.

One strip turned into a multitude, the edges of the green light slowly turning purple. The shape of the aurora shifted continuously, its colors brilliant and diverse, truly beautiful to behold.

Everyone in the cabin watched the aurora outside the window in silence until Kate murmured in awe, "So beautiful..."

"Yes, it’s really beautiful."

After casually agreeing with Kate’s sentiment, Yang Yi quietly added, "Hey, guys, we’re landing."

The plane began to dive.

Yang Yi had only ever flown in commercial airliners and had no idea what it felt like for a fighter jet to dive, but he thought the descent of the small plane was alarmingly fast.

As Yang Yi restrained himself from crying out, he also saw the white expanse of the ground below. Thanks to the aurora, the outside world was no longer pitch-black, but he wished he couldn’t see anything at all.

It was terrifying.

When the plane finally came to a complete stop on the frozen lake surface, the cockpit door opened, and the old man emerged from the cockpit. He opened the cabin door and said to the group, "You have arrived, collect your things and get off the plane!"
