Chris left the room, and Gary Keene looked at Yang Yi, who gave a slight nod in response.

Yang Yi knew what had happened, but Chris did not.

Chris had been playing a game of ambiguous words with Gary Keene, acting as a CIA agent, but he was unaware of Yang Yi’s current situation and what Yang Yi had said.

So although Chris had made threats, those threats could have come from the Organization of Water or the CIA. In any case, he needed to make MI5 cautious and not harm Yang Yi.

And for Yang Yi, he needed to establish contact with Chris without being able to directly disclose it, so he chose to say a phrase that seemed like a covert signal. As long as Chris could match his conversation, Yang Yi could claim that phrase was a covert signal, regardless of what Chris actually said.

Why couldn’t Yang Yi just tell Chris everything was fine? Because a double agent would never want their partner to know they had betrayed them, and in order to maintain his image in front of Gary Keene, Yang Yi could not rush to recognize Chris.

All three parties were acting, and each played their part well.

Once Yang Yi indicated to Gary Keene that Chris was his accomplice, there to rescue him and not to kill him, Gary Keene could make a decision. It was time to let Yang Yi go if he was to function as a double agent.

Gary Keene immediately rushed out of the hospital room, shouting, "Stop! Bring him back!"

Two members of MI5 pushed Chris back into the room.

Chris still bore an arrogant and fearless demeanor, and coldly said to Gary Keene, "I hope you’ve changed your mind."

"Do you think this is the United States?"

Gary Keene appeared angry and helpless, but Chris seemed even more furious. He swung his arm abruptly and shouted, "This isn’t the United States, which is why we don’t need to be cautious. We both know who the other is! I’ve given you the chance to negotiate, and if you’re unwilling to bargain for some advantage, then stop wasting our time!"

Gary Keene took a few deep breaths, then abruptly swung his arm and said, "You want to take him away, fine, but we need an explanation. Have your superior make a call."

Chris arrogantly and rudely replied, "Don’t give me bureaucratic nonsense! This matter doesn’t cause any loss to the United Kingdom, but it’s extremely serious for us; you have no idea the severity of this matter for us!"

Chris cast a cold glance at Gary Keene, swung his arm irritably, and said, "I’m here because I don’t want the situation to escalate, but we’re cornered. If we can’t survive, then neither can you!"

Chris was resolute, and Gary Keene said in a deep voice, "Don’t be too arrogant; this is the United Kingdom."

"Fine, this is the United Kingdom, so go ahead and kill me here. I’m right here; do whatever you want."

Yang Yi could only think to himself how incredibly well Chris was performing.

Chris truly seemed not to care about Gary Keene one bit, acting like a reckless bastard with powerful backing and a desperate fugitive out of options.

Gary Keene clenched his fist, then released it, clenched it again, and released it once more.

After several repetitions, Gary Keene finally said in a deep voice, "I must consult with my superiors; this will take some time."

Without hesitation, Chris said, "Fine, one hour."

Gary Keene spoke with great annoyance, "Are you trying to turn this into a diplomatic incident? Fine! I’ll see if you dare!"

Chris’s expression was dark as he said, "Don’t you understand yet? I don’t represent anyone, I can’t represent anyone. We have no way back."

Pointing at Yang Yi, Chris said coldly, "Either let me take him with me, or it will end in mutual destruction. I don’t want to do this, but I have no choice."

Gary Keene was staring at Chris, and Chris was staring back at Gary Keene, when suddenly, Yang Yi said loudly, "I didn’t say anything!"

Allowing Chris to see Yang Yi was a clear blunder on the part of MI5; under normal circumstances, they would never let a prisoner see an accomplice.

Yang Yi didn’t know what Chris had said to Gary Keene, but he thought Gary Keene had allowed Chris to come in and see him probably because Chris had made some kind of threat, like causing destruction if he wasn’t allowed to see the person.

Now that they had met, Yang Yi felt it was time to break the silence. Although it was all an act, Chris’s performance was crucial. If Chris gave himself away and Gary Keene began to suspect he wasn’t from the CIA, it would be the end of everything.

So Yang Yi shouted at the right moment, and sure enough, Chris became even more adamant.

"One hour! If I don’t take him away safely, then you’re responsible for all consequences."

Gary Keene pondered for a moment, then turned to Chris and said gravely, "I need to consult. Please do not leave just yet."

Chris was escorted away by two people, and the door of the hospital room was closed again.

Gary Keene looked at Yang Yi and after a while, he exhaled heavily and said, "CIA bastards! Even though I directed this scene, I still can’t help but want to blow his brains out!"

What could Yang Yi say? He could only look innocent.

Gary Keene sat down and said in a deep voice, "Are you sure he’s your partner and not someone who wants to kill you?"

"Yes, he used our covert signal. This operation is secret and not associated with the CIA, so we established a signal to identify whether someone is one of ours."

Gary Keene waved his hand and said, "Talking about this is pointless now. Wait half an hour and you will be secretly taken out of the hospital. Then you and the others should leave the United Kingdom immediately and never come back. If you’ve got any valuable information, call me."

Yang Yi nodded and said, "Understood."

Gary Keene stopped talking and began to meditate with his eyes closed. After about fifteen minutes, he stood up, opened the door of the hospital room, and went straight to the room where Chris was.

With a face full of anger and unwillingness, Gary Keene coldly said, "You can take him away now. Notify your people to stop their actions immediately."

Chris immediately became polite, bowing slightly to Gary Keene with a humble expression and saying, "Thank you. I don’t have to notify anyone. As long as I leave with him, they will naturally abandon all their actions. We’ll leave quickly."
