Chapter 357: Chapter 345: Tracking
Yang Yi and Kate didn’t enter the departure hall, as there seemed little need to mingle inside. The two of them just needed to wait along the inevitable path where passengers would pass.
Like anyone else waiting to pick up passengers, Yang Yi and Kate didn’t appear to be anything special.
However, Yang Yi continually scanned through the crowd of people waiting for arrivals. He was looking for Mihali Kuvacek’s daughter, and he quickly spotted her.
There weren’t many people waiting for arrivals, but Lucy Clark stood at the very end of the crowd, wearing sunglasses, with heavy makeup, and her blond hair was very eye-catching; overall, she looked absolutely stunning.
Yang Yi stood to one side of Lucy Clark and, once he confirmed her identity, he didn’t glance at Lucy Clark again.
Now he needed to think about how to capture Mihali Kuvacek.
Making a move inside the airport was impossible because capturing Mihali essentially meant a kidnapping, which was too risky to attempt in such a public space, so that option was immediately discarded.
After Mihali Kuvacek recognized his daughter and they left together, the best choice was to follow and keep tabs on them, then make a move in a deserted area. This approach, however, meant that more time would be needed.
Yang Yizhen hadn’t decided where to act yet.
Spies in action can basically be divided into two types. One is the precision operation type, which involves meticulous planning ahead of time, with the time, location, route, and staffing all arranged properly. The operation follows the plan strictly. This method has a low margin for error, but as long as everything is well-controlled, the likelihood of mistakes is minimal.
The other type is the improvisational type. Although there will also be prior reconnaissance work done, such as scoping out the terrain, actions are taken without setting any detailed plans. There’s just a clear objective, and any appropriate means are used spontaneously as the situation unfolds to achieve that goal.
Both methods have their advantages and flaws, and the two approaches are not fixed and unchanging, but precision-type operations require high-level skills in preliminary investigations and control of the situation, usually needing a large team to complete. Therefore, only institutions like the CIA, with state power at their disposal, often employ the precision-type approach. Such large entities can close roads and disperse crowds as they wish, and there are no consequences for arresting people; naturally, they can manipulate the situation as they see fit within their authority.
As for an organization like Organization of Water, which honestly can be considered merely a gang for its small number, they would also want to engage in precision operations, but they need the resources for it, so when acting alone or with just a few people, they can only improvise.
However, one thing is for sure: precision operations only need people with strong execution capabilities, whereas improvisation tests an individual’s personal ability. Without the experience of a seasoned veteran, it’s genuinely difficult to excel.
Yang Yi couldn’t be considered a veteran, but his ability to improvise wasn’t bad—in fact, it was very strong. Lack of experience could be gradually accumulated, but without the wit to adapt on the spot, no amount of experience would enable someone to stand alone.
Under the present circumstances, Yang Yi naturally had to choose improvisation.
"Iron Fist, the target will definitely go to the parking lot with his daughter. We’ll look for an appropriate opportunity to act there."
"Understood."
"I’ll lead the way, you follow and signal me from behind. We keep no contact throughout and try our best to lower the target’s guard."
"Understood."
After briefly communicating with Kate, Yang Yi moved a bit further away from Lucy Clark.
As the broadcast beep sounded, Mihali’s flight landed, and after about ten minutes, the first batch of passengers who didn’t need to claim their checked luggage began to emerge.
Yang Yi saw Mihali Kovacek.
Although Mihali Kovacek wore sunglasses, a hat, and even grew a beard, Yang Yi was still able to recognize him at a glance, even sooner than Lucy Clark could recognize her own father.
It was only the most basic disguise, which might make it slightly more difficult for ordinary people to recognize him, but to Yang Yi’s memory-like brain, Mihali’s disguise only served to expose him sooner.
"Target spotted, middle-aged man wearing a hat and sunglasses, dressed in a brown jacket."
With Yang Yi’s cue, Kate also immediately locked onto the target, then she whispered, "Target spotted."
Lucy Clark was still looking around nervously at the passengers walking out, then she finally spotted her father and immediately began to wave her hands and walked towards him, and at that moment, Mihali Kovacek also finally saw his daughter.
Mihali looked very alert and nervous, he had already seen his daughter, but he was still frequently looking around to his left and right.
Yang Yi didn’t look at Mihali Kovacek again, as he had already turned and started walking towards the outside of the terminal.
Mihali Kovacek and his daughter hugged each other, and at this time, Yang Yi had almost reached the terminal doors, but Kate was in the crowd, keeping a close watch on all of Mihali Kovacek’s actions.
Kate turned to leave as well, but she soon stopped, looking at a reflection in a glass window near the door. She held her phone, pretending to be engrossed in it, and whispered, "Target is about to exit, exiting, turned left!"
Yang Yi had already left the terminal. He stood on the side of the road outside the terminal where taxis and private cars stopped to pick up passengers, his back to Mihali Kovacek. Upon hearing Kate’s cue, he instantly turned left and walked away without glancing back.
Guided by Kate’s directions, Yang Yi continuously walked quite a distance ahead of Mihali, at least thirty meters apart, even as much as forty or fifty meters at times - at an airport with large crowds, this distance would not arouse suspicion.
Yang Yi was conducting anticipatory tracking, walking in front of the target, operating right under the target’s nose without arousing his alertness.
"Right turn, target slowing down, they are heading towards E3 parking lot."
Yang Yi whispered, "Blade Queen, E3 parking lot, move towards me."
"Blade Queen, understood!"
Xiao Ran emphasized the term "Blade Queen" heavily, as if to remind Yang Yi that she was called the Blade Queen, not simply "queen."
Xiao Ran drove her car towards Yang Yi’s location, while Kate whispered into the radio, "The target is moving in the same direction as you, I’m too far away to quickly determine any changes in their direction!"
Yang Yi took out his phone in the parking lot’s inner aisle, pretending to make a call, but he did not stop; after a short while, he saw Xiao Ran’s car and whispered, "Blade Queen, reduce speed, slowly move towards me."
