Chapter 352: Chapter 340 Bland
Yang Yi arrived at the back door of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building.
The door lock of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building was relatively advanced, and it came with a complete anti-theft system, or rather, an intrusion prevention system. But the mechanical part of the lock was no issue for Yang Yi, while the electronic system connected to the alarm could be easily dealt with by Tang Guo.
"I’ve reached my position, over."
"I see you, you look kinda sneaky, just wait a sec, I’m ready, let me find it, the electronic security system, off, there we go!"
Having Tang Guo in charge had a significant advantage, her voice was pleasant to the ear. Even through an earpiece, it was delightful to listen to her, the only flaw was that Tang Guo tended to be slightly verbose.
If the electronic security system wasn’t shut down, no matter whether Yang Yi broke in or used a wire to pick the lock, it would trigger the alarm.
But with Tang Guo disabling the electronic security system, the rest was easy to handle.
Yang Yi started to pick the lock with two pieces of steel wire.
At this moment, Xiao Ran in the car could no longer hold back and said, "Tang Guo, let me tell you something, when you’re directing Yang Yi, it’s best to keep it brief. This is not the time to chat. Too much unnecessary talk can be distracting."
Tang Guo stuck out her tongue and said softly, "Got it, sorry."
Xiao Ran gestured with her hand, signaling Tang Guo to stop talking, because both of their voices could be heard by Yang Yi. Being heard was not an issue, but it would occupy the communication channel.
It took less than two minutes for Yang Yi to unlock the back door.
Gently pulling open the door, Yang Yi walked into the Ministry of Internal Affairs building.
Now Yang Yi faced a dilemma, whether or not to put on night-vision goggles.
The building was pitch dark, Yang Yi lowered his voice and whispered, "I’ve entered."
It was time for Tang Guo to give the next instruction, but there was no sound from her.
Xiao Ran couldn’t help but say, "Tell him where to go, asking you to be concise wasn’t a suggestion to remain silent."
Tang Guo stuck out her tongue and said, "Oh, sorry, um, just go anywhere, there’s no one near you, it’s fine to turn on the lights, oops..."
Tang Guo covered the microphone and said to Xiao Ran in a flustered manner, "Did I talk too much again?"
Xiao Ran waved her hand and said with a sense of resignation, "It’s okay."
Yang Yi really wanted to laugh, because it was indeed quite amusing.
Three rookies, one and a half greenhorns, there was no talking of any tacit cooperation. After all, this was their first mission, they still needed to adjust to each other. It was already good enough to be at this level, they couldn’t ask for too much yet.
Yang Yi took off his glasses and put on a single-tube faint light night-vision device on his head.
Definitely unable to take the elevator at this time, after surveying the surroundings, Yang Yi began to head toward the location of the fire escape stairwell.
Yang Yi walked swiftly, but his thin-soled soft shoes didn’t make a sound.
By the way, the shoes Yang Yi was wearing were valued at six thousand US dollars. They were not some branded luxury, but simply a pair of shoes specially made for silence, designed specifically for agents’ silent infiltration.
Yang Yi found the fire escape; he remembered there were cameras inside, so he stood in front of the fire door, not rushing to push it open and enter.
"The surveillance camera in the fire escape has been disabled, you can go in now."
Tang Guo’s voice was pleasant, but its excessive sweetness had a downside; it was too relaxing, failing to evoke the appropriate sense of urgency, at least Yang Yi wasn’t feeling tense right now.
Enjoying auditory pleasure during an operation, Yang Yi thought that maybe he should assign Tang Guo to this role of issuing commands from now on.
Yang Yi slowly pushed open the fire door, closed it gently behind him, and then he started to quickly ascend the emergency stairs.
As Yang Yi reached the space between the second and third floors, Tang Guo suddenly said, "Wait, there’s a guard on the third floor, right at the fire escape entrance. Wait for them to leave before you move."
Yang Yi halted his movement, merely standing in the stairwell without the need to hide. Just two minutes later, Tang Guo whispered, "Ok, the guard has left, you can continue."
Yang Yi resumed his ascent, and when he reached the fire door on the third floor, Tang Guo whispered, "There’s no one outside the door, but there’s a stretch without surveillance, you’ll have to rely on yourself for that part."
"Understood."
Yang Yi whispered back, then he gently pushed open the fire door.
Exiting the emergency stairway, he faced a long corridor. The third floor of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building housed its computer department, within which was a server room. If the ministry’s network was likened to a computer, then the server room would be its central processing unit.
The surveillance that was intended to prevent outsiders from entering had become Yang Yi’s eyes. Thus, leaving the range of the cameras actually inconvenienced him.
He took out a miniature drone, activated it, and let it fly, which then restored visual access to Tang Guo, and Yang Yi didn’t even have to watch what the drone saw because Tang Guo would do it for him.
"The picture isn’t very clear, but it’s not a problem. Wait a moment, ok, continue now."
Having firmly memorized the layout of the third floor, Yang Yi moved swiftly towards the server room, pausing only briefly until Tang Guo informed him the surveillance was disabled, and then he quickly reached the server room’s door.
The server room was important, the computers inside holding almost all of the secrets and data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, hence the surveillance camera on the door, and the electronic lock that required both a fingerprint and a password.
But since Tang Guo and Schultz had already breached the entire security system of the Ministry, such an electronic lock was just a closed door to Yang Yi, which he merely needed to push open.
Yang Yi stood in front of the door, and after a short moment, heard Tang Guo say, "The door’s open, please enter, hehe."
Tang Guo couldn’t help but laugh.
Yang Yi shrugged, then pushed the door open and stepped inside, closing it slowly behind him. When he turned around, he was faced with rows of processors.
Exhaling softly, Yang Yi took a data transfer device from his backpack, intended to serve as the highway for the heist.
"I’m in the server room, tell me where to plug in the data transfer device."
Yang Yi had learned how to use the data transfer device, but instead of searching for the right port based on memory, he found it more efficient to have Tang Guo direct him.
"Simple, walk forward, turn right, and you’ll see the data port. Unplug a processor, insert the transfer device you brought, ok, done."
Now, the data transfer device that Yang Yi had brought was part of the Ministry’s computer system. The device would quickly transmit data out through the network, to be received and analyzed simultaneously by the supercomputer at Imperial Technological University.
That was, provided everything went smoothly on Schultz’s end.
The part Yang Yi was responsible for was just this simple. However, making his part appear so simple was the most difficult part.
It was akin to a pianist playing the piano, who mesmerizes with their skill not because playing is easy but because the pianist has practiced for many years. Yang Yi’s operation was straightforward because the entire Organization of Water had made tremendous efforts to make his task seem mundane and unexciting.
