Being short-staffed is indeed inconvenient, but even so, Yang Yi hadn’t thought of asking Mike or Brian for help. Since he had decided not to use them, he was determined to handle the situation perfectly and beautifully himself.

Kate was waiting in Martin Howard’s house. Tang Guo and Schultz had to meet up with Kate, then head to the Imperial College supercomputing center, whereas Yang Yi and Xiao Ran were of course going straight to the Home Office building.

However, when Yang Yi was assigning tasks, Tang Guo had a different opinion.

"How about I go with you two to the Home Office? Black Lightning can go to the supercomputing center alone, using the supercomputer is just to hack into the Home Office’s system. As for receiving data and analysis, anyone can do it, and of course Black Lightning is no exception."

It was clear Tang Guo had discussed this with Schultz, because right after Tang Guo finished, Schultz immediately said, "That’s right, I can do it by myself."

Yang Yi frowned and asked, "Why do you insist on going to the Home Office?"

With a hint of excitement, Tang Guo said, "Because you need me. Someone has to watch the monitors for you. With me there, I can help you avoid the nighttime guards’ line of sight, and I can turn off the cameras for you, so you won’t be recorded while you’re moving around."

Schultz laughed and said, "We recorded lots of videos last night. While you’re in action, we can just replace the live feed with the recordings from last night. That way, even if someone is watching the monitors, they won’t notice you."

The idea did sound tempting, but Yang Yi frowned and said, "But to do all this, you could do it from anywhere, right? Whether you’re at the supercomputing center or you’ve followed us to the Home Office, it doesn’t matter, even if you stayed at home it wouldn’t affect anything."

Tang Guo said urgently, "But the Imperial College is too far from the Home Office, and the radio signals can’t transmit that far. Do you expect us to stay on the phone the whole time?"

The communication range of the radio was indeed a problem, being too far would require relay conduction, or manual relay of messages, such as Tang Guo watching the monitors and relaying what she sees to Xiao Ran, and then Xiao Ran telling Yang Yi, but this would surely be too inefficient.

Yang Yi looked at Schultz and asked, "Are you sure you can manage alone?"

Schultz smiled and said, "No problem, it’s too easy."

Tang Guo, with an eager face, begged, "Please, can I go with you, please? Pretty please, I’m begging you?"

Yang Yi shuddered; when Tang Guo started to wheedle in a voice that made his bones tingle, he found it really hard to say no.

With a pitiful expression, Tang Guo said, "I just want to watch the monitors and tell you where you can and can’t go. Every time I watch a spy movie, I really wish I could play that kind of role. Please, let me go."

Yang Yi exhaled and said to Tang Guo, "Alright, you’ll come with us to the Home Office. Remember, this is an exception!"

Tang Guo immediately smiled, cheered, and then eagerly said to Yang Yi, "I’m all ready, everything is all set up. Let’s go now!"

The four of them set off. Schultz couldn’t drive, so Yang Yi had to drive him to Martin Howard’s house, and then they turned towards the Home Office.

Along the way, Tang Guo was especially excited because the $400,000 worth of surveillance equipment Mike had bought could be put to use. The main user was Yang Yi, but the operator was Tang Guo, and only Tang Guo.

Tang Guo’s role was obviously crucial, it was just that she insisted on being on-site rather than working from anywhere else.

After dropping Schultz off at Martin Howard’s house, Yang Yi gave some instructions to Kate and Schultz, and then the three of them drove to the Home Office building.

They parked the car on the street and switched drivers to Xiao Ran, then Yang Yi moved to the passenger seat. They didn’t continue driving but stopped not far from the Home Office to wait.

It was still not too late, and there were quite a few pedestrians on the road, and the night guards weren’t sleepy yet, so they had to wait a little longer, waiting until late at night to start their operation.

Tang Guo sat in the back seat with her laptop open, constantly monitoring the situation inside the Home Office building.

After one o’clock in the morning, Yang Yi whispered, "Ready to move, radios on, sound check."

Xiao Ran whispered back, "Normal."

Tang Guo didn’t make a sound, just nodded her head.

Yang Yi couldn’t help but turn his head and say, "Tang Guo, I just said to test the sound. If you heard me through your headset, you should reply ’normal’ instead of just nodding."

Tang Guo stuck out her tongue and said, "Alright, alright, sorry, uh, normal."

Yang Yi took a breath and then he put on that pair of expensive glasses and said, "Transmitting surveillance footage, check equipment connectivity, Tang Guo?"

After typing a few keys, Tang Guo whispered, "Do we have to talk so formally? I’m not used to it. Okay, the footage has been transmitted, starting with the lobby’s footage. Is it clear?"

Footage from inside the Internal Affairs Ministry building appeared on Yang Yi’s glasses. The building’s own security cameras were high-definition and equipped with night vision, so the image was very clear.

"The footage is very clear."

After saying this, Yang Yi whispered to Xiao Ran beside him, "If something unexpected happens, just make sure I can get out safely, try not to shoot."

Xiao Ran whispered back, "Understood."

Taking a deep breath, Yang Yi whispered, "I’m going to move now."

Tang Guo blurted out urgently, "Wait! Wait, aren’t I supposed to say ’start the operation’ before you can move?"

Yang Yi and Xiao Ran exchanged looks, then realizing they were both helpless, Yang Yi could only shrug and say, "Yes, you are supposed to announce whether the operation starts."

As Tang Guo watched the surveillance footage on her computer, she said urgently, "Which way are you planning to go in?"

"The back door."

"Let me see, back door, back door... no one there! You’ll be caught by three cameras if you go through the back door. I’m preparing to replace the footage now. Okay, you can move."

Tang Guo was slightly nervous, Yang Yi smiled and said, "Don’t be nervous, relax a bit."

Yang Yi pushed open the car door, slung the backpack with the equipment over his shoulder, and started walking towards the back door of the Internal Affairs Ministry building.

Yang Yi got out of the car and walked for a while before turning into the street where the back door of the Internal Affairs Ministry building was located, soon disappearing from sight of the car.

"The surveillance footage has been replaced, go with peace of mind."

Seeing that there was no one around, Yang Yi finally couldn’t help saying, "What do you mean ’go with peace of mind’? Even ’go confidently’ would be better."

Tang Guo immediately replied over the radio, "Sorry, then please proceed confidently and boldly, the second camera is now out of service."

Yang Yi said no more, just quickly walked towards the back door of the Internal Affairs, and soon he heard Tang Guo in a low voice, "Okay, you can open the door now. You could even stay there all night and no one would find you."
