Chapter 316 - 315 Distinction

Chapter 316: Chapter 315 Distinction

Yang Yi hadn’t slackened a single day in these three years, but had Kate been idle either?

Looking at Kate’s concerned face before him, Yang Yi felt a tumult of emotions.

In a word, he had lost face, and he had lost it badly.

Looking at the stationary Yang Yi, Kate said awkwardly, "Are you okay?"

Yang Yi wiped the blood trickling from his nose and lifted his head, saying gloomily, "I’m fine..."

Kate thought for a moment and said softly, "Let’s go again, we..."

"Don’t!"

Yang Yi felt incredibly frustrated. Even he could see that Kate was about to go easy on him, to let him regain some dignity.

But what a joke, did Yang Yi need Kate to go easy on him?

Now, Yang Yi was not only disappointed, but he had also fallen into despair. Even if they sparred again and he won, he would suspect that Kate had let him.

It was over, completely over.

He wanted to save face but felt powerless to reverse the situation.

Yang Yi twitched the corner of his mouth and then said to Kate in a low voice, "I’m going to wash my face."

Kate looked torn, but as Yang Yi turned to head back, he saw Zhang Yong burst through the back door.

"Where are you going? Don’t leave. Kate, you come here."

Zhang Yong was visibly excited, and then Mike, Brian, and Xiao Ran came out in a line behind him.

Seeing Yang Yi’s sorry state, Xiao Ran suddenly burst into laughter, laughing uncontrollably and heartily.

Alright then. He had intended to spar quietly in private, and now it was totally ruined, all thanks to that bastard Zhang Yong. It was one thing to have witnessed it and laughed, but calling so many people to gawk was out of line.

Yang Yi looked resentfully toward Kate, who was now visibly annoyed and shouted, "What are you doing? Get lost!"

But Kate was actually angry because Yang Yi had lost face.

Yang Yi sighed. Now he had a rough idea of what "unable to face the people of Jiangdong" felt like.

Zhang Yong ignored Kate’s irritation and urgently asked her, "What have you practiced?"

Kate glanced at Zhang Yong and answered icily, "Boxing, no-holds-barred fighting, I’ve practiced a lot. Do you want to try?"

Zhang Yong immediately nodded, and then said to the people behind him, "Watch this."

Zhang Yong took off his coat, casually tossing it aside, and then beckoned, "Come on, come on."

Kate took a breath and then threw a punch, which Zhang Yong parried, but Kate’s next punch followed swiftly. Then they both kicked out with their right legs, and with a thud, their shins collided.

"Stop! Stop!"

Zhang Yong’s Wing Chun punches were extremely fast, and he held his own sparring with Kate, but he immediately called a halt and then retreated to the back.

Clenching his teeth in pain, Zhang Yong rubbed his shin and said with a surprised face, "Did you see that? Did you all see that?"

Brian, with a solemn face, nodded and said, "I saw it."

Zhang Yong’s eyes shone as he looked at Kate and exclaimed loudly, "A master indeed!"

After saying that, Zhang Yong turned to Yang Yi and asked, "Did you see that? You could kill her, but you can’t beat her. I can beat her, but I have to injure her. If we were just sparring, well, she couldn’t hit me, and I couldn’t injure her. Do you know what this means?"

Yang Yi was taken aback for a moment and asked, "What does it mean?"

Zhang Yong, with a look of exasperation, said, "Foolish! It means she’s a master! She’s just a notch below me. As for you, well, I’ve already said that you can’t beat her, which means she’s better than you."

Yang Yi, feeling rather unconvinced, retorted, "But I can kill her!"

Zhang Yong shook his head and explained, "That’s because you learned killing techniques from me. Kate has always practiced combat skills. If she learned what you did, do you think you could kill her? Dream on!"

Suddenly, Brian interjected, "No, Yang Yi has the traits of a killer, but Kate doesn’t. Even if they learned the same things, Kate has a better foundation, but I still believe Yang Yi could kill Kate."

A puzzled look on her face, Kate asked, "What do you guys mean by that?"

Zhang Yong seriously replied, "It means Yang Yi has a killer instinct, and you don’t. Do you know what killer instinct means?"

After speaking, Zhang Yong addressed Kate, "Your combat skills are very good, but what you practice is for fighting, not killing. If it was a match in the ring, I believe you could be a female Boxing King and few men could be your rivals. So you could punch Yang Yi’s nose and make it bleed, but if it were a life-and-death fight with Yang Yi, don’t doubt it, you’d already be dead by now, or at the very least, you’d have two broken arms."

After hearing Zhang Yong’s words, Kate didn’t feel angry or unreconciled. Instead, she nodded repeatedly and said, "You’re right, I think that’s the case too. Yang Yi just couldn’t exert his full strength."

Having Kate save his face like that, Yang Yi really felt like crying without tears. At that moment, Xiao Ran, with a face full of satisfaction, said, "No matter what, Yang Yi got hit by you. Look at his nose; suddenly I find it quite delightful."

Zhang Yong waved his hand and said to Kate, "Now see the difference between you and Yang Yi. You can’t make it with your bare hands, so use a weapon. Can you use a knife?"

Lifting her head, Kate replied, "Of course."

Zhang Yong immediately took out two magazines and rolled them into tubes, then urgently said, "We don’t have practice knives, so use these as a substitute. You two, have another go."

Kate took one of the magazine tubes, and Yang Yi also took one. Then Zhang Yong waved his hand and urged, "What are you waiting for? Go on!"

Kate glanced at Yang Yi, nodded, and lunged at him. Yang Yi flicked his left hand, ducked down, and with the magazine tube in his right hand, he struck towards Kate’s ribs.

It was obvious to everyone that Kate was letting Yang Yi win, and of course, Yang Yi felt it too, because his strike just then was too easy.

A moment of stun, Kate said, "Again!"

The second attempt was equally straightforward. Yang Yi just slashed across Kate’s neck with a single strike.

Kate twisted her neck and with an extremely unconvinced look, she whispered to Yang Yi, "Again!"

The third time, Yang Yi paid the price of a left arm to attain the result of stabbing his tube into Kate’s heart.

The fourth time, a desperate Kate decided to bring them both down even if it meant stabbing Yang Yi once, and then she indeed stabbed Yang Yi. But she hit Yang Yi’s shoulder hollow, and Yang Yi once again drew the tube across her neck.

If this were real combat, then Kate would have seriously injured Yang Yi by stabbing him, but Yang Yi would have cut her neck. But if Yang Yi hadn’t been worried about directly stabbing Kate’s throat with the tube and potentially injuring her, thus he did not stab but instead slashed, Kate wouldn’t have even been able to hit Yang Yi.
