Chapter 315: Chapter 314 Tragedy

Many things originally managed by Mike had now become the responsibility of Yang Yi after a long conversation with him.

As Mike put it, "Go for it and don’t be afraid of making mistakes." If Yang Yi wanted to grow into a true leader, he needed to be brave enough to take on the responsibility and manage things on his own, even if that meant making some mistakes along the growth path.

So, all the tasks became Yang Yi’s.

First on the list was finding a house. Yang Yi and Kate took their time choosing and eventually rented a townhouse close to the south side of Hyde Park—a three-story building boasting over two hundred square meters and six bedrooms, intended to house the younger brothers from Mexico.

Then, near the Paddington tube station north of Hyde Park, they rented a small apartment that served purely as a safe house, where they would keep some weapons, medications and cash in case of emergencies.

In Notting Hill, Yang Yi rented a detached villa that now served as the current residence for the members of the Organization of Water.

The Organization of Water was too impoverished at the moment to afford separate living spaces, so everyone had to live together—until the time came when they made money and each could afford to move out and live independently without crowding together.

London’s high rents were of course exorbitant, especially since Yang Yi had chosen to lease large houses in bustling areas. Combined, the annual rent for these three properties alone amounted to 320,000 British Pounds.

After signing three long-term rental contracts and paying the landlords, Yang Yi felt a twinge of pain in his heart.

Having settled the housing situation, the next step was to move everyone from the hotel to their new rented residences.

When they first reached the Organization of Water’s initial foothold in London, no one had any objections; it was only temporary, after all. Living together in close quarters was not a big deal.

After moving to the new home and addressing the lodging issue, the next pressing matter awaited resolution.

What was the most urgent issue? Purchasing equipment? Bringing over the younger brothers from Mexico? Or finding a way to take on missions?

For Yang Yi, nothing was of importance now except for a showdown with Kate.

Having been soundly beaten by Kate at their first meeting was an everlasting pain in Yang Yi’s heart. He had endured three years of harsh training in prison—for what? Regaining his dignity from Kate was a crucial factor.

Yang Yi was not a man to hold petty grudges, but there were some things that a man simply couldn’t overlook.

Of course, given the current friendship between Yang Yi and Kate, it was impossible for him to beat her up fiercely; however, Yang Yi had to make her understand that she was no longer his match.

Kate and Xiao Ran, as women, enjoyed the privilege of having their own rooms.

Yang Yi knocked on Kate’s door.

"Come in. What’s up?"

Kate was getting settled into her new room. It was quite small, which made it difficult to move around freely. This didn’t trouble Yang Yi, who excelled in fighting in tight spaces—after all, that’s what he had honed in prison. Still, Yang Yi thought it would be better to give Kate a more suitable venue.

"Get changed into something comfortable for moving around, and I’ll wait for you in the backyard. Don’t tell anyone else."

Yang Yi didn’t enter the room; after speaking his piece to Kate, he headed straight for the small garden at the back of the house.

The villa had a small yard with a lawn, and flowers were planted in the four corners. Though not large, the yard was certainly sufficient for a skirmish.

Yang Yi arrived first in the small garden, loosening up his shoulders.

Yang Yi was brimming with confidence; he was no longer the man he had been before. The day of redemption had arrived.

Soon after, Kate appeared in the garden, dressed in sportswear.

Kate was full of confidence, tilting her head side to side, and said excitedly, "You want to spar with me?"

Yang Yi nodded firmly.

Kate laughed.

"Good, it’s been three years since I’ve had the chance to spar with someone. Let me see what you’ve learned,"

Yang Yi stepped back and gestured to Kate with one hand, saying, "Come on."

Kate raised her fists and then swiftly threw a punch at Yang Yi.

So fast!

Yang Yi was surprised by how fast Kate was.

He was no longer playfully toying with Kate; Yang Yi exerted all his strength as if he were facing a real assassin, retreating fully and turning his head to avoid Kate’s first punch.

But Kate’s second punch was already on its way.

Yang Yi reached out to deflect Kate’s punch.

In a real exchange, Yang Yi realized Kate’s strength was substantial, not like that of an average woman’s punch. Of course, he’d never fought with another woman, but for sure, Kate’s strength surpassed that of most men he had sparred with in prison.

However, compared to experts like Zhang Yong, Kate’s strength was still inferior, so in terms of power, Yang Yi had the advantage, but it wasn’t absolute.

But Kate was incredibly fast—faster than Yang Yi could believe.

After two punches, Kate delivered a knee strike aiming for Yang Yi’s abdomen. Yang Yi pressed down with both hands to block. If he had used only one hand, the strength wouldn’t have sufficed to block the force of Kate’s knee.

Then came another punch from Kate.

Yang Yi could neither block nor dodge it.

With a thud, Yang Yi took a punch to the face; it landed on his cheek and nose.

Kate suddenly pulled back her hand and stepped away. She had held back some of her strength, but when she saw the blood slowly trickling from Yang Yi’s nostrils, she felt very guilty and distressed.

"Are you okay? I’m sorry..."

Yang Yi stood there dazed, the blood continuing to flow from his nose until it dropped onto his clothes.

"You are injured... I... I’m sorry..."

Kate was consumed with guilt.

Yang Yi indeed had injuries; he had been stabbed in the stomach by Bass and slashed across the arm, but these were minor wounds that had mostly healed over the days. Fighting would affect him somewhat, but the impact wasn’t significant, or else why would Yang Yi have asked Kate to come out?

Yang Yi realized a fact: Kate was much more formidable than he had imagined.

Kate reached out to touch Yang Yi’s nose, and then Yang Yi came to his senses, lowering his head to let the blood drip onto the grass.

At that moment, Yang Yi heard laughter emanating from the building. Although it was muffled by the glass and not very clear, he could still make out the crazed laughter.

Yang Yi could kill Kate, but he couldn’t beat her in a fight.

Does it sound contradictory to say he could kill but not beat her? No, it’s not contradictory at all.

When Kate threw her first punch, Yang Yi could have engaged in a tactic where both would be injured. He could have endured a few punches and then broken Kate’s arm, or delivered a punch that broke her ribs, or a kick that knocked her over.

But could Yang Yi break Kate’s neck or arm? Of course not. This was a sparring match, not an actual fight to the death; so many techniques from his Mian Zhang Fist, which were perfect for killing, couldn’t be used.

The Mian Zhang Fist was a lethal martial art, not meant for competition. Thus, Yang Yi could kill Kate, but he couldn’t beat her in a sparring match, which was his tragedy.
