Chapter 295: Chapter 294: Both the Palm and the Back of the Hand Are Flesh

The sky was just beginning to lighten when Yang Yi and his team stormed into their Paris hideout.

Boer, who had been left alone in Paris, climbed out of bed in terror, and it wasn’t until he realized that it was Yang Yi and the others who had entered—rather than the assassin coming to kill him—that Boer, on the verge of collapse, yelled, "Why! Why did you come back today just after leaving yesterday! Couldn’t you knock on the door before entering?"

At that moment, who would pay attention to Boer? Exhausted from continuous travel, the others automatically filtered out Boer’s complaints.

Mike, looking very tired, said, "We may need to act at any time, everyone get your weapons ready first."

They opened a tightly shut room door and two safes. Yang Yi took out his cherished knife and his pistol, while Brian and the others also took out their weapons.

Kate, slightly nervous, followed Yang Yi and asked, "Are we about to take action?"

"Yes, we still can’t say when we will find Bass and act, but as long as he is still in Paris, we must find him immediately. To deal with Destroyer, we must kill Bass first."

Kate said without hesitation, "I’m going too!"

Yang Yi tucked the gun into his waist, covered it with his jacket, and then hesitantly said, "You’re going too?"

Clenching her fists, Kate said in a low voice, "I haven’t let my guard down for a moment these past three years!"

After a moment of thought, Yang Yi nodded and said, "Alright, you’ll come too, you’ll be with me."

Mike shouted, "Lightning, stop dilly-dallying and get to work quickly."

Boer, ignored by everyone and wrapped in a blanket at his bedroom door, stopped complaining as he watched Yang Yi and the others busily working, only to say nervously, "What are you doing? Are we going to war?"

Mike pointed at Boer and said loudly, "It’s none of your business, go back to sleep!"

Boer sheepishly entered his room, then closed the door behind him.

Schultz powered up the computer and began to access the network of a French phone company.

Triangulating a cellphone’s location is an easy task, and it can be accurate within ten meters, but this is under the premise that the phone company can use all its resources to do so.

Schultz could hack into the phone company’s network, but he could only know the area where the target’s phone had been used or was currently within the range of a base station. The use of multiple base station signals for triangulation was not impossible to achieve, but Schultz couldn’t do it because he was a hacker, not a phone company engineer.

The more prosperous the city, the more signal base stations there are, and the more base stations there are, the more accurate the location.

However, after fiddling for quite a while, Schultz suddenly said, "That phone’s signal isn’t in Paris..."

Everyone was waiting for Schultz’s location results, but the disappointment was palpable when the signal of the cellphone Bass had used was not in Paris.

Mike said gravely, "Is the target out of Paris, or is the target’s phone just without a signal? Which situation is it?"

Schultz shook his head and said, "I don’t know, but the phone number we’re trying to find is definitely not here."

After pondering for a moment, Mike shook his head and said, "There are many possibilities. Some phones can’t be located after they’re turned off, some need the battery removed. Right now, Bass might have turned off the phone or thrown away the phone he used once. Of course, it’s also possible he really left Paris."

In a low voice, Yang Yi asked, "So what do we do now?"

Mike looked up at everyone and waved, "Sleep."

Humans aren’t machines, continuous operation is bound to cause problems, regardless of why Bass couldn’t be located. But since we can’t find him, there’s no need to keep wasting time. It’s better to make use of the time to rest.

The moment rest was mentioned, Brian and the other two immediately stood up and left briskly. Then Brian directly opened Boer’s room door, walked in, and yanked Boer, who was lying in bed, to his feet—without offering any explanation. He simply lay down on the bed and instantly fell asleep.

Brian, Paul, and Charles, the three of them shared one bed.

As there were only two bedrooms at the location, Brian and his trio occupied one, which was already quite space-efficient.

Zhang Yong was more straightforward, saying listlessly, "With two women here, there’s definitely no chance for me to sleep on a bed. Alright, I’ll just make things easier for myself."

Zhang Yong leaned his gun against the wall, grabbed a blanket, spread it on the floor, and without using a pillow, lay down directly. In less than two minutes, he started to emit faint snoring sounds.

Mike didn’t even take off his shoes. He sprawled on the couch and said to Schultz, who was still sitting at the computer, "Lightning, you’re young, and hackers are used to pulling all-nighters. So, you just keep watch. Inform me immediately if you find anything."

Schultz didn’t feel the slightest bit enslaved; he replied cheerfully, "Okay, Mr. Cheese, no problem."

Now, only Yang Yi, Xiao Ran, and Kate remained.

And there were still two rooms left.

Yang Yi cleared his throat, about to speak, when Xiao Ran smiled and said, "I’ll just sleep on the floor for a while, it’s fine. You two can have the remaining bed."

Kate smiled elegantly, also replying with a smile, "I’m not a flower that needs looking after, Ms. Xiao. Please, take the bed."

Saying anything was wrong, and saying nothing was also wrong.

Yang Yi’s head was starting to hurt.

Xiao Ran shook her head and continued with a smile, "I certainly don’t want to be the one spoiling the mood, you two haven’t seen each other for a long time. For a couple, this must be tough, right? So, the last room is yours."

Yang Yi wanted to explain, but how could he?

And could he even explain?

Just then, after glancing at Yang Yi, Kate suddenly said, "He’s not my boyfriend, but of course, I wouldn’t mind him being my boyfriend. Actually, I’d really like him to be my boyfriend."

Xiao Ran was slightly stunned, not quite used to Kate’s directness, but she soon turned her gaze to Yang Yi. Her eyes were very expressive and seemed quite confrontational.

There’s a saying that’s not always right, but here, it seems quite fitting: both the palm and the back of the hand are flesh.

Confronted with Xiao Ran’s questioning gaze, Yang Yi suddenly had a stroke of inspiration.

He pointed at Boer, who was wrapped in a blanket and holding his clothes, not knowing where to go, and said sternly, "You, go back to your room and continue sleeping. Don’t come out unless you are called!"

Boer was delighted and scurried into his room.

Xiao Ran and Kate seemed to be sparking with each other’s glances, and then, with remarkable sync, they both turned their heads away; Xiao Ran took a seat at the dining table while Kate claimed an armchair for herself.

After looking back and forth, Yang Yi sighed inwardly, lay down beside Zhang Yong, and in the end, he didn’t even manage to snag a pillow.
