Spy-x-War Showdown
Chapter 167 - 166: Run Away

Chapter 167: Chapter 166: Run Away

It was evident when they ran towards the forest that Brian was a warrior, while Yang Yi was just an ordinary man.

Yes, Yang Yi was quite capable in combat, but only in hand-to-hand fighting.

A super, super, super, super skilled expert couldn’t defeat a child with a handgun; this is the progress of the times, a generational gap, the overwhelming power of firearms over martial arts experts. Simply put, no matter how fast you are, you’re not faster than a regular person pulling the trigger, and no matter how skilled, you can’t go against the trend.

In prison, Zhang Yong hadn’t taught Yang Yi how to fight a war. He taught him a lot, but as for fighting a war, talking wasn’t enough, nor was theorizing behind closed doors. Even if you couldn’t learn in real combat, you still needed a setting close to it.

How could you learn to fight a war in a cell that was at most seven or eight square meters? Zhang Yong may have been a mercenary, but that was all he could share; a spy skilled in assassination and reconnaissance needed to master different things than a mercenary.

So, it wasn’t exactly a war now, just a bunch of prison guards chasing after Yang Yi, but for him, it wasn’t too different from actual combat.

The difference was clear: Brian knew what to do, whereas Yang Yi only knew to run headlong.

"Stop!"

Brian clenched his fist, but Yang Yi kept running, so Brian had to yell out and then said to Yang Yi, "Don’t you know to run in zigzags? Even in the forest, running in zigzags would definitely increase your chances of survival compared to running straight."

Gasping for breath, Yang Yi nodded and said, "I know about zigzagging, but I forgot in my panic."

Brian waved his hand and then said to Yang Yi, "Come this way, your guys are waiting for you here."

Brian led Yang Yi in a new direction, and after no more than a hundred meters, Hank and Chris were waiting under a large tree with Rodriguez.

"Boss!"

Rodriguez was visibly excited as he whispered to Yang Yi and then said with great excitement, "We’re breaking out of prison now, right?"

Yang Yi looked back and smiled, "Yes, we’ve already left the prison, but there’s still some way to go before we’re truly successful in our escape. The most important part of breaking out isn’t leaving the prison; it’s how we evade the ensuing manhunt."

Hank looked at Yang Yi and said, "How did you do it? It seems too easy. I still can’t believe we just ran out like this, no, that we managed to escape the entire prison. It’s unbelievable."

Yang Yi smiled and said, "It seems simple to you, but you don’t know how much work I put into this. Uh, but to be honest, this escape has indeed been much easier than I expected."

Brian said in a serious tone, "Alright, now’s not the time for idle chat. Where to next?"

Yang Yi wanted to appear as if everything was under control, as if all had been arranged perfectly, but unfortunately, he hadn’t arranged for anyone to pick them up.

Yang Yi turned to Hank and asked, "Did you bring your phone out?"

Hank immediately took out his phone from his pocket and said, "Of course I brought it. How could I not bring something so important?"

Yang Yi took the phone, removed the SIM card hidden in the seam of his clothes, and then said to Brian, "I’ll make a call. Someone should come to pick us up. After that, we just need to get away. I think Mexico would be a good choice."

Chris was taken aback for a moment and said, "Go to Mexico?"

Yang Yi nodded and said, "Yes, to Mexico, or do you have a better suggestion?"

Chris thought for a moment and shook his head, "No, I just didn’t expect to go to Mexico."

Yang Yi said indifferently, "We don’t have any money on us now, you don’t have passports, and if discovered by the police, you will be arrested, so staying hidden in the United States isn’t likely, but going to Mexico is just the first step. We will definitely need to go somewhere else afterward."

After finishing his words, Yang Yi waved his hand and said, "Let’s get moving before the prison guards catch up to us."

Hank asked Yang Yi, "Boss, can I have a gun?"

Yang Yi currently had three handguns, while Brian had two guns, an M14 rifle, and a handgun; the rifle was something he picked up while leaving the prison.

Yang Yi drew a handgun and gave one to Hank and another to Chris. As for Gweil, he showed no intention of wanting a gun.

After distributing handguns to his men, Yang Yi said gravely, "Now let’s move and talk as we go."

Looking backward, Brian spoke in a low voice, "We need a direction, we can’t just wander aimlessly."

Walking on, Yang Yi explained, "The plan is this: we evade the prison guards’ first round of pursuit, then find a place by the sea and wait for someone to come pick us up. Oh, I told the warden we would go in that direction, so avoiding it should suffice."

Brian asked in a serious tone, "If someone’s coming to pick us up, how long will it take for them to arrive?"

"I don’t know, I need to make a phone call. I think it’s possible someone will come for us, but it’s also possible that no one will."

Hank hesitated but couldn’t stop himself from saying, "Didn’t you say... "

Yang Yi looked back and said solemnly, "What did I say? That I have a vast spy organization? Okay, I admit that was a lie."

Hank was suddenly dumbfounded. Yang Yi paused for a moment, then addressed Hank, "What do you want to say? Or what do you want to do? If you choose to leave now, I won’t object."

Yang Yi stopped and then said to the four people behind him, "Let’s make some things clear now. Here’s the situation: I have a formidable opponent to take down, and you are my first team, or rather, my comrades-in-arms. If you’re willing to join me, I welcome you, but if you don’t want to work with me, you can leave now."

Rodriguez didn’t hesitate, "Boss, I’m willing to follow you, whatever you do, I’m in!"

Unfortunately, Rodriguez wasn’t of much use at the moment.

Chris also didn’t hesitate, "Count me in, whatever you do, I’ll follow, but please forget any promises you made to me."

Gweil spread his hands, "I don’t care, I’ll definitely follow you. If I don’t, I’ll soon be caught and sent back, no, maybe I’ll die in this forest."

Only Hank was still hesitating, but in the end, he nodded and said gravely, "I’m in! Count me in."

Yang Yi immediately turned around, gesturing to continue walking forward while saying in a deep voice, "Keep an eye on what’s behind us, I’m going to make some calls now, Brian, I’m counting on you for everything."

Brian nodded, then waved his hand and said, "Keep moving forward; I’ll follow from behind. Don’t worry, I won’t get lost."
