Chapter 168: Chapter 167 Expensive

"Captain, it’s me, I’m out."

After hearing Yang Yi’s opening words, Danny was quite startled and said loudly, "What do you mean you’re out?"

"I broke out of prison."

"Broke out?"

"Yes, a jailbreak. I led most of the inmates at Pelican Bay Prison in the escape. You’ll probably see it on the international news soon."

Danny took a deep breath and said with a tremble, "What are you talking about? You mean you’ve broken out with everyone in the prison?"

"Not everyone, just most of them. I opened the gates of Pelican Bay Prison and let all the inmates who were out for yard time go."

Yang Yi felt he had made himself very clear, but Danny still shouted in disbelief, "Are you joking?"

Yang Yi said urgently, "Forget it, I won’t talk too much about this now. Bottom line, I’ve escaped, and I need someone to pick me up. Could you ask Raymond to help out, or anyone else will do."

"Your passport is with Raymond. I’ve left everything with him, but I still don’t quite understand why you let all the other inmates out. Don’t you know this will make things too big? Oh, fuck, Raymond must hate you and me to death. You’ve cut off a source of his income. Damn, I really don’t know if Raymond will still help you. He’ll be doing well not to kill you. Jesus, I need to call him and talk about price first."

Yang Yi spoke in a low voice, "That Korean who wanted to have me killed in his place... If he wants to kill me, of course I can’t make it easy for him. Also, I’ve brought some people out with me. It’s precisely because I needed to take people with me that I had to release more to cover our escape, or I wouldn’t have gotten away at all."

Danny said helplessly, "Let’s not talk about this now. Tell me where you are."

"I’m in the forest north of the prison, still moving forward. Where I will end up is uncertain. Captain, if Raymond can help, please ask him to bring six sets of clothes."

Danny said irritably, "Got it, if he doesn’t want to kill you, then he’ll have to make some money off you to compensate for his loss. Let me talk to him about the price first. Shit, you really did a number this time!"

Danny hung up the phone in frustration, and Yang Yi could only shrug; he hadn’t wanted to cause such a big mess either.

Continuing forward, his phone rang after a while, but it wasn’t Danny who called; it was Raymond.

"You asshole! What the hell have you done!"

Raymond was yelling on the phone, and Yang Yi took the phone away from his ear for a while, then finally spoke in a serious tone, "Hello, Raymond."

"Asshole! I said I would find a way, but you’ve ruined everything. Now Pelican Bay Prison’s business can never be done again, and the business from other prisons may also be affected. All thanks to your brilliant actions!"

Raymond was still grinding his teeth in anger, and Yang Yi coughed lightly and said, "Sorry, but I had to do it. I didn’t want to die in prison."

Raymond took a long breath and then said very annoyed, "Fine, let’s not talk about that useless stuff. Let’s talk business now. You want me to help you get away, right? Fine! One million US dollars to compensate for my loss, and then pay me another hundred thousand dollars, I’ll take you wherever you want to go!"

Yang Yi coughed lightly and said, "I’m sorry your business was affected, but I don’t think it’s fair for me to compensate for it. Get it straight, pal, it’s Ben who wanted to kill me. If he hadn’t, I could’ve just waited for parole. I’ve paid my dues already. Now my money’s been wasted, and on top of that, I’ve had to risk breaking out. Whose fault is that? So aren’t you mistaken about who you should be complaining to?"

Raymond gritted his teeth and said, "But you let go all the prisoners from Pelican Bay Prison!"

"It was most, not all. Eh, let’s drop this topic. I think you should have a good talk with the South Korean, and then, you need to look forward. You might have lost a source of income, but there are other deals we can do. Don’t hold a grudge against money, pal. You always have to make up for what’s lost."

Raymond panted, "Two hundred thousand dollars! I’ll take you wherever you want to go!"

Yang Yi said helplessly, "That’s expensive, buddy. I’ve got a passport, don’t forget my identity is clean. When I’m no longer Benjamin, I’m me. I can go wherever I want. The fugitive on the run is Benjamin. The jail, the photos, and the fingerprints, they all belong to Benjamin. The police station’s records still have photos and fingerprints of Benjamin. So, what’s the problem with me? I could even take a stroll at the police station right now, what’s the issue?"

Raymond fell silent because Yang Yi had hit the nail on the head. It was Benjamin who was supposed to be in jail, and nominally, it was also Benjamin who was in jail. So even if there was an escape, it would be Benjamin who escaped. What did it have to do with Yang Yi?

But Yang Yi didn’t want to break off the talks either, since his passport was still in Raymond’s possession. So he spoke softly, "So two hundred thousand is really expensive, pal. Let’s talk business seriously. I have six people here who need to get out of the United States to a safe place. Can you help? If you can, how about we talk about the price seriously?"

Raymond asked with confusion, "Six people?"

"Yes, six, including me."

After thinking for a while, Raymond said in a low voice, "Then it’s six hundred thousand, one hundred thousand per person!"

"Buddy, that’s expensive. I’m the one paying, and if you ask too much, then guess whether I’ll leave them behind and walk away or pay six hundred thousand dollars for them? My offer is one hundred thousand dollars to get all six of us safely out. Deal or no deal?"

"Five hundred thousand! The lowest I’ll go is five hundred thousand."

"Two hundred thousand. I’m giving in, but this is as far as I can go, buddy. This is a big deal, think it over."

"Four hundred thousand. If you’re going to haggle then we might as well not talk any further."

Of course, Yang Yi had to haggle. He and Raymond haggled for quite a while, and finally, the price fell to three hundred thousand dollars.

The deal was struck, but Raymond insisted on receiving the payment first before acting, so Yang Yi made another call to Danny.

"How did it go, did you reach an agreement?"

"We did, but there’s a problem. I don’t have enough money."

Upon hearing Yang Yi’s issue, Danny said immediately, "Don’t even mention borrowing money, but I can pass the message to Kate for you."

Yang Yi said helplessly, "We settled on three hundred thousand dollars, but all that’s left in my account is about three hundred thousand dollars, right? So I can’t afford your fee, and if I pay this amount, I really won’t have a penny left."

"I can’t lend the money, but I can let you owe me the fee until you have the money to pay it."

Danny’s tone was very firm, and Yang Yi responded helplessly, "Alright, then I’ll owe it to you. Don’t rush to tell Kate, I’ll contact her myself after I’m safe. Please transfer the money to Raymond as soon as possible, I’m eager to leave here."
