Chapter 161: Chapter 160: Just a Small Trick

The warden left, and Yang Yi was the only one left in the ward.

Don’t be impulsive, absolutely don’t be impulsive, you must stay calm, you must restrain yourself.

Although he kept desperately telling himself not to be impulsive, Yang Yi still felt a surge of evil fire rushing straight to his forehead, the rage burning so fiercely he was about to lose his reason.

Yang Yi’s arrival at the prison had not been easy. He had paid a huge price, and he had already spent a lot of money in this prison, a tremendous amount of money.

Yang Yi didn’t care about the money; what he cared about was whether spending it would achieve his goal. But now, the money was spent, and his goal was still unmet.

The worst part was that the money wasn’t even Yang Yi’s—it was Kate’s.

Yang Yi had two hundred thousand British Pounds of his own, but he had given Owen five hundred thousand US Dollars, a solid five hundred thousand. Since Yang Yi’s own money was not enough, he had no other choice but to borrow from Kate.

Kate had the inheritance left by her parents. Besides cash, she had sold everything else they left to gather the money to hire the Dark Night Knight for protection and the expenses Yang Yi needed in prison.

When Yang Yi was able to contact Kate, he borrowed her money to make up one million British Pounds and then handed it over to Danny for safekeeping. This way, when Yang Yi needed it, Danny could transfer the money quickly. But now, their savings were almost depleted, and yet he couldn’t be released on parole.

What a joke!

Yang Yi wasn’t afraid to borrow because he thought that he could quickly repay it after leaving prison. Moreover, the Destroyer was a threat that he and Kate had to face together; they were in this together, so temporarily borrowing the money didn’t seem like a big deal. However, now he had no way to leave prison.

Money didn’t matter to Yang Yi, but what he cared about was whether he could get out early to earn money and repay Kate.

Originally, Yang Yi wouldn’t have considered these things before leaving prison, but suddenly someone wanted to kill him and had sabotaged his release plan, causing him to lose his last shred of calm.

Then an escape was the only option.

But glancing at the clock on the wall, Yang Yi quickly cooled down.

It won’t do; I must endure, at least I must wait another two days, I must wait two more days!

Yang Yi took a breath.

Confined in the infirmary, Yang Yi couldn’t contact the outside world; this meant he couldn’t inform Danny of what had happened, nor could he have someone waiting outside to meet him, so he had to wait for the warden to inform Raymond. As long as Raymond knew, then Danny should be able to find out as well.

So, he must endure once more.

Yang Yi didn’t have to wait too long; after all, he had been stabbed in the stomach.

The doctor finally arrived, and the guard unlocked Yang Yi’s handcuffs.

The guard and the doctor together lifted Yang Yi onto the wheelchair and pushed him to the operating room, where they jointly helped transfer Yang Yi onto the operating table.

All of a sudden, Yang Yi screamed in pain, startling the doctor, who let go, somehow dropping Yang Yi onto the floor.

Yang Yi screamed in pain once again. Then, frantically waving his arms, he roared, "Are you trying to kill me? Ah! I’m dying of pain! Bastard!"

The prison guard was also furiously shouting, "Shut up! If you don’t want to die, shut up. Do you want to be left here unattended?"

Yang Yi clutched his stomach. After gasping painfully a few times, he finally sheepishly closed his mouth and allowed the prison guard and the doctor to assist him onto the operating table.

He first sat on the operating table before lying down flat, clenching his teeth as the doctor administered the anesthesia.

It was just a minor surgery, no need for general anesthesia, only local anesthesia was required.

Yang Yi’s hands were cuffed to the operating table as the doctor completed the surgery.

In less than half an hour, Yang Yi’s surgery was over. The doctor stitched up his wound, then took him off the operating table, cuffed him back onto the wheelchair, and sent him to the hospital ward.

Yang Yi appeared drowsy. After the prison guard cuffed his right hand to the hospital bed, as he was about to cuff the left hand, Yang Yi gave a weak gasp, barely able to lift his eyelids, and whispered, "What’s wrong with leaving one hand free? Are you going to hold it for me when I go to the bathroom?"

The prison guard hesitated for a moment and did not cuff Yang Yi’s second handcuff. Instead, he said sternly, "Stay put."

After the prison guard left, Yang Yi took a deep breath, then weakly placed his hand over his eyes. After covering his eyes for a while, his left hand naturally slid across his face, then he rested it on the hospital bed.

But as Yang Yi’s left hand passed over his mouth, he had already acquired a scalpel blade.

Yang Yi had stolen it from the operating room, hiding it in his mouth the whole time.

Taking a light breath, Yang Yi slowly inserted the blade into the elastic band of his trousers, and then he closed his eyes.

Yang Yi truly fell asleep. He slept without eating anything, but he was allowed to drink some water in the evening and painfully made it through the night.

The prison hospital was still able to guarantee that Yang Yi would recover from such a minor injury, but comfortable treatment was out of the question. Providing him with pain medication to alleviate the pain from the wound was even less likely, so Yang Yi’s stomach ached the whole night, not allowing him to get much sleep.

Yang Yi finally fell into a fitful sleep in the early morning but was soon woken up by someone.

The warden, with a grim expression, stood in front of Yang Yi and then whispered, "I’ve contacted Raymond, and he wants to speak with you personally."

Yang Yi found it hard to believe, but the warden truly took out a phone, dialed a number, and placed the phone next to his pillow.

Yang Yi picked up the phone. Soon, he could hear someone softly saying, "Hello, who’s this?"

Noting that the warden had no intention of leaving, Yang Yi whispered, "It’s me answering the call; tell me what’s going on."

"The employer wants you dead. I received the news yesterday and immediately contacted the employer, but the original contact method is no longer working. My inquiries revealed that Benjamin has left the United States and returned to South Korea, and I haven’t been able to find out much more, but I believe they think it’s more advantageous for you to die in prison than to leave. It’s not just about avoiding the final payment; I believe they have other reasons for wanting you dead."

Yang Yi exhaled and then whispered, "So how do I get out now? Parole doesn’t seem possible."

Raymond was silent for a moment and then whispered back, "Let me think of a solution, but for now, it looks unlikely that you will be able to leave prison soon. I’m sorry, I didn’t foresee this complication with the employer."

Yang Yi, somewhat irritated, said, "Okay, tell the captain about this; he’ll find a way. That’s all for now."

Yang Yi hung up the phone, placed it on the bedside table, and the warden took it. He then said in a low voice, "I don’t want to know what happened, but you better behave."
