Chapter 160: Chapter 159 Why
Yang Yi sliced the knife down, directly cutting open the prisoner’s throat and half of his neck, then he threw the knife to the ground, put his hands behind his head and facedown on the ground.
In a mere instant, Yang Yi leapt and fell, killing two people, and then, after obtaining the results he wanted, he still went ahead and killed a third person.
Since the other party wanted to kill him, there was no possibility of holding back.
Yang Yi’s mind wasn’t chaotic, but what he was now thinking about was what Zhang Yong had taught him.
Indeed, martial arts really isn’t suitable for the ring, nor is it suited to be a sport, because martial arts is purely the technique of killing.
When martial arts are restricted from killing, they lose most of their power, and when martial arts have to be performed with protective gear to compete, they lose their meaning.
Yang Yi had been practicing for over two years, but it wasn’t until today that he finally understood what he had learned. Those seemingly useless, even cumbersome moves—once he had a sharp blade in hand, immediately revealed their true nature.
Not to knock down or restrain the opponent, purely to harm or kill the enemy, deciding the enemy’s life or death in a moment’s thought.
In that brief moment, Yang Yi’s mind suddenly lit up like a light had been turned on. The things he could not understand or grasp before, he came to a sudden realization at that moment.
It wasn’t an epiphany, but rather the culmination of Yang Yi’s long and gradual accumulation of knowledge, a natural progression after prolonged practice.
Using martial arts to kill and using martial arts in a fight are completely different feelings. Yang Yi had been practicing for more than two years, and when he suddenly discovered a whole new world, his mind could no longer accommodate anything else, only his perception of martial arts.
However, it was also in that brief moment that Yang Yi switched his focus from his perception of martial arts to reality.
Would the guards just shoot?
Yang Yi was certainly scared. He feared death and, even more, feared dying before he could accomplish his goals. He had spent over two years in prison, not to die there without having achieved anything.
But, fortunately, no more gunshots were heard.
The guards had already run over, and seeing the bloody mess, one of them couldn’t help saying, "Fuck! Support! I need support, call a doctor! Quick, get a doctor!"
Yang Yi let out a sigh of relief, at least his life was saved, the guards wouldn’t shoot anymore.
It was only then that Yang Yi felt a sharp pain in his stomach.
Yang Yi turned his head to look at Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was clutching his stomach, already lying on his back on the ground, his face twisted in pain, legs curled up, and he couldn’t help but wail continuously.
The three men Yang Yi could have easily defeated had almost cost him his life; it had nothing to do with his skills, because assassins wouldn’t face him in a fair fight, they would use the most effective way to kill him.
Yang Yi’s hands were cuffed behind his back, and it was only at that moment that he finally had the chance to think about why someone from South Korea wanted to kill him.
This matter was indeed not easy to figure out. Yang Yi had entered the prison taking the place of a South Korean, so now there were South Koreans who wanted to kill him. That would certainly lead to thoughts about the Benjamin he had replaced, but why would the Benjamin he replaced want to kill him?
It made no sense at all, he couldn’t figure it out.
He sighed deeply and shouted, "Rodriguez, hang in there!"
Rodriguez hadn’t been handcuffed yet; his mouth agape, he gulped down a breath before yelling loudly, "I’m dying! I’m dying!"
Yang Yi then looked at the others. Gweil stood there with a dumbfounded expression, while Hamer Phil had run off into the distance. As for Chris and Hank, Chris had been stabbed in the arm, and Hank was sprawled on the ground just like him.
Finally, the prison guards swarmed in, and Yang Yi was hauled up from the ground. Chris and Hank were also handcuffed.
Yang Yi felt a sharp pain in his stomach, but he knew his wound wasn’t serious; however, it was common sense to shout loudly at a time like this.
"I’m injured! Take me to the hospital quickly, they attacked me, didn’t you see? They tried to kill me, I was defending myself!"
No matter how much Yang Yi shouted, it was of no use at that moment, but he had indeed taken a stab to the stomach, so a visit to the infirmary was guaranteed.
After the chaos, Yang Yi was finally taken to the infirmary.
Of course, the prisoners needed immediate medical attention. Yang Yi was chained to the hospital bed, but after a quick check, the doctor left him alone; the few medics in the prison’s clinic were all busy attending to Rodriguez.
Now was certainly not the time to compete with Rodriguez for medical resources. Chained to the bed’s metal frame with his left hand holding his stomach wound, Yang Yi was left alone in the room, but he didn’t make a sound.
The infirmary door opened, and the warden stormed in, furious. After slamming the door, he lowered his voice and said, "What the hell happened!"
The warden was bound to be furious; three people had died in his prison all at once, which could very well cost him his job.
Yang Yi was furious too, as this time it truly wasn’t his fault.
"How would I know what happened? Three men suddenly jumped out wanting to kill me; of course, I had to fight back."
After quietly speaking up for himself, Yang Yi said with helplessness, "What do we do now?"
The warden said angrily, "What do we do? There’s no solution! How can you suppress this? Don’t even think about getting parole; do you think the parole officer would grant parole to someone who just killed three people?"
Yang Yi knew that if the warden didn’t want to help him cover this up, then he could forget about parole. Besides, with three people dead during exercise time in full view of everyone, it would be impossible for the warden to bury this incident.
So parole was no longer an option.
With a stern face, Yang Yi said in a low voice, "Let’s not talk about parole! They tried to kill me—Jorge from the Mexican gang is the go-between. Find out what exactly is going on!"
The warden ground his teeth and said, "The trouble you’ve caused! You know what to do, right?"
Yang Yi replied in a low voice, "Of course, I won’t expose our deal. I’m not that stupid. But you’d better let Raymond know what’s happened. It’s in both our interests!"
The warden’s expression changed several times, then he whispered, "I’ll inform Raymond. I don’t need you telling me that. Listen, you had better really know what you’re supposed to do, or else..."
Yang Yi retorted sharply, "I don’t plan on dying yet. Tell Raymond there’s someone from South Korea who wants to kill me; he’d better give me a clear explanation, or the consequences will be more severe than you think. So if you get an answer, you’d better tell me quickly!"
Under Yang Yi’s threat, the warden, still fuming, waved his hand dismissively, then said in a low voice, "I’ll let you know if there’s any news. Remember, you’d better keep your mouth shut!"
