Chapter 151 - 150

Chapter 151: 150

"Something happened last night."

"I know, I saw a part of it."

Yang Yi’s first words upon seeing Brian were to tell him about what had happened last night, but Brian’s response took him by surprise.

"You saw it?"

With a composed face, Brian nodded and then whispered, "A Huaxia man came in last night and took out Beast Wayne, I’ve been thinking what this incident has to do with you."

Yang Yi forced a smile and said, "The man is related to me, but the whole incident isn’t, I’ve always wanted to help him kill Beast Wayne, but he didn’t need my help at all, tell me what exactly happened last night."

Brian whispered softly, "Last night, around three in the morning, I heard a noise outside, at a time when it should have been quiet, so I went to the door and peeked through the crack."

Making a gesture, Brian whispered, "I saw that jailer you’re on good terms with, then I saw another Huaxia man, I couldn’t see very clearly, but Clint opened the cell door, and Beast Wayne jumped out, about two seconds later, Beast Wayne was dead, his neck was broken."

Taking a deep breath, Brian whispered, "Do you know how hard it is to break someone’s neck?"

"No idea, I’ve never tried, nor heard anyone talk about it."

Making a gesture, Brian whispered, "That Huaxia man was also injured, he took a punch to the right side of his chest, at least two of his ribs must be broken, but he approached Beast Wayne in a strange way, and threw several punches in quick succession, so fast I couldn’t see clearly, at that moment, I thought that Huaxia man looked more like a beast."

No wonder Zhang Yong’s steps were a bit unsteady, he had been injured too.

Piecing together the full account of how Zhang Yong took down Beast Wayne from three different people, most of Yang Yi’s doubts had been cleared up, now he just needed to wait until he got back to his cell to see what Zhang Yong had left behind, and he guessed he would understand the whole situation.

"We’ll probably have to push back our plan, there’s bound to be a crackdown with Beast Wayne’s death, I don’t think it will be as lax here as before in the short term."

Brian whispered softly, "I understand."

"I might not be able to enter the special surveillance area in the future, and therefore not be able to keep in touch with you, what should we do if that happens, and I have something I need to tell you?"

Brian shook his head and whispered softly, "Can’t be helped, or we can agree on a date, and act together that day, I can break chains and fight my way out!"

"That won’t work, I don’t have a viable plan yet, so I can’t set a date."

Dismissing Brian’s suggestion, Yang Yi thought for a moment and then whispered, "Let’s do this, I’ll find a way to send a message to you, I’ll let you know once I’ve prepared everything outside."

"Okay, but we need to agree on a code word, the code for escape is ’sunrise’, the code for a day is ’a cigarette’, but don’t make numbers too obvious, we’ll use decimal, ten days is ’eating’, a month is ’going to the toilet’..."

Brian and Yang Yi discussed a lot, setting codes for the days and months, and the specific time down to the minute. Then Brian whispered softly, "Can you remember all this?"

Yang Yi whispered, "What I’m worried about is that you won’t be able to remember this complex code system, this was improvised, wasn’t it?"

Brian shook his head and said, "This is a code system we’ve used before, I won’t forget it, are you sure you’ve got it down?"

Yang Yi repeated all the codes Brian had mentioned, then with a look of astonishment from Brian, whispered, "Remembering these isn’t a problem for me."

Just then, the prison guard suddenly opened the door of the chimney and hurriedly said, "Come out! Quick!"

Seeing the panic on the guard’s face, Yang Yi knew that the thing he was worried about had arrived sooner than expected.

After exchanging a glance with Brian and giving a slight nod, Yang Yi stood up and asked with a puzzled face, "What’s wrong?"

"Someone is looking for you! Never say you were here, just say you went to clean the toilets!"

In a rush, the guard pushed Yang Yi out of the chimney and urgently said, "In the lounge, you absolutely must not speak carelessly, otherwise we’ll all be in trouble."

After pushing the cart of tools, Yang Yi sighed lightly and said, "I know, don’t worry, I certainly won’t talk nonsense."

Yang Yi was pushing the tool cart to the door of the lounge, which was ajar, when two prison guards who were not from the special ward stood up immediately upon seeing Yang Yi.

One of them walked straight up to Yang Yi, cuffed his hands behind his back without any patience, and said, "Come with us!"

There was nothing more to be said at that point; Yang Yi was led out of the special ward by the two guards and taken directly to the warden’s office.

The office was still the same, but the person had certainly changed.

The new warden was still young, in his forties, and as soon as he saw Yang Yi, he eager said, "Someone escaped today, and you had a good relationship with him."

Yang Yi said with an innocent expression, "Sir, I wouldn’t say we had a very good relationship, we were merely roommates."

"Shut up! Enough, shut up!"

The warden seemed very angry. He stood up, strode over to Yang Yi, and gritted his teeth as he said, "Don’t try to feed me this nonsense in front of me. We all know you were close to him, he just moved out of your cell yesterday and escaped today. Are you saying you don’t know anything?"

Yang Yi was genuinely helpless; he really didn’t know.

The warden glared at Yang Yi angrily, then said emphatically, "Tell me! Tell me everything you know!"

Yang Yi thought of what Zhang Yong had left for him, which was most likely a note, but now, Yang Yi felt something was wrong because, if the warden wasn’t a fool, he would inevitably search his room, and Yang Yi hadn’t had a chance to go back until now.

"Sir, I really don’t know anything."

A guard next to him lashed out with his stick onto Yang Yi’s shin, causing Yang Yi to scream in pain and immediately kneel on one knee on the ground. He could not stand the pain, so this was not an act.

The warden, looking at the pained expression on Yang Yi’s face, said in a low voice, "Your good days are over! They’re over forever! Either you tell me everything you know now, or wait until you can’t bear it anymore and then tell me. The choice is yours."

Yang Yi, enduring the pain, said, "Sir, what do you want to know? I simply lived with him, but I know nothing."

The warden exhaled and then, pointing at Yang Yi, said to the two guards, "Drag him out and beat him! Beat him!"

Yang Yi was dragged up by the two guards and taken outside. The impending beating was undoubtedly unavoidable; Yang Yi was both angry and helpless, but what he found odd was that the warden seemed not to want any information about Zhang Yong from him but rather appeared to be lashing out in frustration.
