Chapter 138: Chapter 137: Accident
Yang Yi was very angry, but he decided to endure in just a brief moment.
What could Yang Yi do? Either he could throw all his plans out the window, unable to hold back his anger, beat up George, and then lose a valuable work opportunity, or he could swallow his pride and continue with what he was supposed to do.
Compared to his plans, a momentary fit of temper was nothing at all, so Yang Yi really had no choice.
Therefore, Yang Yi merely glared angrily at the prison guard for a moment before turning his head away and leaning to the side.
However, as the prison guard passed by Yang Yi, he reached out and slapped Yang Yi’s buttocks again.
Yang Yi didn’t dodge; instead, he suddenly reached out and grabbed the prison guard’s wrist, and while coldly staring at the guard, he flung his hand away.
The prison guard was angered by the fact that Yang Yi had grabbed and flung his wrist, he darkened his face, but he only looked at Yang Yi and didn’t say anything, just sneered in a very sinister way.
The disturbance at the door didn’t affect anything, Yang Yi did what he was supposed to do, except he definitely couldn’t go into the guards’ break room to chat with the guards that day, and as for the guards’ food, of course, he couldn’t enjoy that either.
What Yang Yi found somewhat incomprehensible was that the frivolous prison guard turned out to be the highest-ranking among this shift of guards, just like Clint was the highest-ranking in their shift.
When Yang Yi finally got to cleaning the guards’ break room, that very annoying guard was sitting on a chair, staring at him darkly.
As Yang Yi cleaned up the break room and was about to leave, the very annoying prison guard finally spoke.
"Stop right there."
"What is it, Sir?"
Yang Yi appeared very calm, and the very annoying prison guard leaned back comfortably in his seat and said lazily, "Give me a show."
"What?"
"What can you do? Dance, sing, stand-up comedy, anything, just cheer me up and you’ll be fine. If I’m not happy..."
He carelessly waved his hand, and then the prison guard smiled, "So get started quickly."
"Unfortunately, I can’t."
Yang Yi flatly refused without hesitation, not because he’d rather confront and resist than to submit to someone he couldn’t fight back against, but because he knew that even if he performed like a clown, it would still be impossible to avoid a humiliating outcome.
The guard had made it clear he wanted to humiliate him, and it would be the same no matter what he did, so why bother.
As expected, the prison guard laughed, heh, as if he wasn’t angry at all.
"Good, you’ve got guts, I like that. You may go."
The insults or beatings that Yang Yi had anticipated did not happen. He had even braced himself for a beating, but to be let off so easily was somewhat unexpected.
Yang Yi left the guards’ break room and then worked as usual.
It was lunchtime and almost time to deliver meals to the inmates; Yang Yi pushed the cart loaded with food for the inmates, which included his own portion.
Among those responsible for distributing the food to the inmates was that very annoying guard.
Two guards walked in front, with Yang Yi pushing the cart behind. Everything proceeded quite normally, no different from when Clint was there. However, as Yang Yi pushed the cart up to the door of a cell, that guard began to smile.
"You, take the food inside."
That was the cell of the beast Wayne.
Yang Yi was stunned for a moment before he whispered, "Why?"
"Because I’m ordering you to do so, open the door!"
There was a small window on the cell door. It was usually enough to pass the meal through the window, but this time, Yang Yi was ordered to go inside the cell to deliver the meal to the prisoner.
Clearly, this was the guard’s way of retaliation.
Getting the chance to meet the beast Wayne like this, Yang Yi wanted to thank the guard’s eight generations of ancestors.
Just then, another guard frowned and said, "George, is this really a good idea?"
So that annoying cop was named George; Yang Yi finally learned his name.
"What’s wrong with it? Why is it not good? Open the door, let him in."
The cell door was finally opened, and inside, a prisoner who was standing behind the door waiting for his meal grinned.
Beast Wayne.
Yang Yi had always thought that someone nicknamed "Beast" would definitely be a big, burly man, or a fierce-looking muscle guy, but when he actually saw Beast Wayne, Yang Yi realized that all his guesses had been wrong.
Looking at him, he was neither tall nor brawny. While his muscles were solid, he certainly wasn’t what you’d call a strong man.
Beast Wayne’s smile was happy, but his eyes were very cold. Just as Yang Yi had heard, they were like the eyes of a wild beast, indifferent, devoid of any emotion.
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Yang Yi had learned for a long time from Hamer Phil how to express feelings with his eyes, but he never thought he could actually see into a person’s heart through their eyes.
Beast Wayne didn’t hide his murderous intent at all, the kind of intent that arises from the desire to kill without a reason.
Yang Yi quickly averted his gaze to avoid making eye contact with Wayne. He didn’t think making eye contact with Beast Wayne was particularly dangerous, but the instant he looked into Wayne’s eyes, he felt goosebumps all over his body.
Beast Wayne wore handcuffs that were connected to leg irons, limiting most of the actions he could perform, but even with the shackles restricting his freedom, Beast Wayne still managed to impose an overwhelming sense of oppression.
Like a lion locked in a cage.
"You, go in."
Yang Yi turned back and shook his head at George, "No! This isn’t my job!"
George smirked, "It is your job now. Do you want to walk in yourself, or do you want me to throw you in?"
Yang Yi glared at George with a resentful look, then he picked up a tray and slowly walked into the cell.
Yang Yi lifted the tray, but Beast Wayne didn’t take it. Instead, he stepped back. Yang Yi pushed the tray forward, saying in a deep voice, "Your lunch."
His voice was somewhat shaky, and his steps were unsteady. Yang Yi looked scared, which made Beast Wayne excited, so he took another two steps back.
George, on the other hand, was very satisfied with the situation he had created, but he was not yet content. Suddenly, he stretched out his hand and closed the cell door.
Yang Yi and Beast Wayne were trapped together in the cell.
The guard with George was shocked and said in a low, urgent voice, "Are you crazy? Open the door and let him out!"
George shook his head slightly and chuckled, "What’s there to fear? Afraid that the beast will tear this guy apart? Let him have a good talk with the beast inside. We’ll go and take care of other things. Let’s go!"
