Chapter 139: Chapter 138 Ineffective Disguise
Yang Yi had always been looking for an opportunity. What kind of opportunity? Nothing more than a chance to kill the beast, Wayne.
Entering Wayne’s cell and then killing him was a possibility Yang Yi had already ruled out. Although the guards’ vigilance had somewhat slackened, it wasn’t to the extent that one could freely enter and exit a cell.
Yang Yi came into contact with prisoners’ eating utensils every day, but he was unable to accurately administer poison to Wayne because it was always the guards themselves who delivered the meals. Even though they were also fed up, there was no way any of them would dare to entrust Yang Yi with this task.
However, poisoning Wayne’s food seemed like a possibility. There was no opportunity now, but after working in the special monitoring area for a longer time, that might change. But the problem was that Yang Yi didn’t have the right poison at the moment.
It’s hard to cook a meal without rice, and even though Gweil was a master poisoner and Yang Yi had learned a lot from him, it was impossible to find a colorless, tasteless, and fatal poison in prison. Besides, synthesizing one was out of the question without raw materials.
If it was just about getting a lethal poison, Yang Yi could obtain one even in prison, but the problem was that the poisons Gweil could make either had a strong smell or were highly irritating. In short, it was impossible to make someone eat it without noticing.
Wanting to silently kill Wayne, and himself remain completely uninvolved, was out of reach.
This had been Yang Yi’s constant assessment.
But Yang Yi never imagined that the opportunity would come so easily; he was unexpectedly left alone in Wayne’s cell.
Although Wayne was formidable, he was shackled now. Even if he truly was a beast, he was a beast locked in a cage. With Yang Yi’s current skills, killing Wayne wouldn’t be too difficult of a task.
Wayne continued to back away while Yang Yi stood at the cell door, looking at the iron door that had been shut.
Right here, right now, to strike and kill Wayne using the excuse of his attack on himself, Yang Yi pondered whether this idea was feasible.
"Come here."
Wayne suddenly spoke. Yang Yi hesitated for a moment, then took two steps forward with the plate in hand.
Killing Wayne here wasn’t possible, so the tempting opportunity had to be abandoned. Now all Yang Yi felt was regret.
Killing Wayne here wouldn’t be a problem, but what then? Yang Yi wouldn’t be able to leave this cell, and he couldn’t afford the consequences of killing Wayne. So, although the opportunity had arisen, the timing was not right.
Yang Yi lowered his head, not letting Wayne see his expression. He walked slowly forward two more steps with the plate and set it down on the small table.
Inmates in the special monitoring area were housed in single cells, but the privilege they enjoyed was having a table and a chair.
Wayne stood next to the table, and after Yang Yi placed the meal on it, Wayne gave him a slight smile. Then, suddenly, he made a move.
Bending down, with hands swiftly spreading, Wayne took on an attacking stance. Yang Yi was startled and retreated instinctively, adopting a defensive posture.
After stepping back just twice, Yang Yi realized that Wayne was only trying to scare him, not really launching an attack.
Yang Yi felt embarrassed. The psychological pressure when facing Wayne was too great. Although he knew full well that the shackled Wayne posed no threat to him, Wayne’s actions still made him subconsciously defensive.
Yang Yi immediately lowered his raised hands, then watched Wayne with a face full of vigilance.
Wayne looked at Yang Yi as he took two steps back, and then his expression turned very strange. After giving Yang Yi a once-over, he suddenly said, "You are from Huaxia."
"No, I am from South Korea."
Wayne smiled, looked Yang Yi up and down again, and then said in a very odd tone, "You’re from Huaxia?"
Somewhat annoyed, Yang Yi responded, "No! I told you I am from South Korea!"
Wayne let out a long sigh and then looked at Yang Yi, speaking in a low voice, "Is it Zhang Yong who sent you to kill me? That’s not right. He should be the one to come and kill me himself. It’s been six years; it’s time he showed up."
Yang Yi felt as though he had been struck by lightning.
What was going on? This was his first encounter with the beast Wayne, and even Zhang Yong didn’t know he was here to kill Wayne. So how could this Wayne figure out his purpose in one sentence? How did he see it? Was it simply because he had a Huaxia face?
Yang Yi was completely bewildered and shocked, so he maintained his bewildered and shocked expression and spoke loudly, "What are you talking about?"
The beast Wayne cracked a smile, but no sound came out. Then, he suddenly began to speak in Korean.
Yang Yi didn’t understand Korean.
Watching Wayne rattle off a long string of words in Korean, Yang Yi frowned and said, "What are you saying? I was born in the United States; I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
The beast Wayne breathed out and then said with a smile in Chinese, "You are not Korean, nor are you of Korean descent. You are from Huaxia."
Yang Yi still looked completely bewildered as he said, "What are you talking about?"
The beast Wayne took a deep breath, raised his head to look at the ceiling for a moment, and then lowered his gaze to Yang Yi, saying coldly, "Stop pretending. Your disguise is terrible. You don’t understand Korean, but you can understand Chinese. Also, the way you step back is Zhang Yong’s signature move. I only wanted a bit of fun, but I never expected Zhang Yong’s man to turn up."
Yang Yi was at a loss for words, wondering if the people who had been associated with Zhang Yong were really that amazing. Were their eyes really that sharp?
It seemed that they indeed were.
Wayne was still looking at Yang Yi coldly and said in a deep voice, "Where is Zhang Yong, and why didn’t he come himself?"
Yang Yi let out a sigh and shook his head, saying, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
Wayne slowly twisted his neck a few times and then said coldly, "Give Zhang Yong a message from me."
Taking a step forward, Wayne pounded his chest twice with his cuffed hands and then said in a low voice, "I won’t keep giving him chances to come see me. My patience is limited and it’s running out. I want to squeeze his neck with my own hands, so don’t send anyone else to find me. Tell him to come himself. I’ll be waiting here for him!"
Yang Yi’s mind was in turmoil, and eventually, he couldn’t hold back any longer. He said softly, "And what can you do if he doesn’t come?"
Wayne started laughing, then said confidently, "Tell Zhang Yong I’m running out of patience. I’m about to kill myself. Since I want to kill him and he wants to kill me, he’d better come himself."
