Chapter 1369: Chapter 1374: New World
A completely unexpected answer.
Yang Yizhen was somewhat at a loss as to how to proceed.
From any angle, Yang Yi could be considered quite knowledgeable, and ordinary situations were not difficult for him.
But what’s the issue here? The problem lies in Bruno being too candid. He answered all of Yang Yi’s questions in the most straightforward way possible, and then Yang Yi believed what Bruno said was likely true.
Even if there were hidden truths, what Bruno said should be true. It’s not because Yang Yi believed in Bruno’s character, but because if Bruno dared to say these things, he wasn’t afraid of Yang Yi investigating them.
So in Yang Yi’s mind, he already believed Bruno by eighty percent.
When Yang Yi asked Thomas his questions, he had already pre-set the answers, but Thomas’s response was a downright denial.
If it turned into a situation where one of Bruno or Thomas was definitely lying, who would Yang Yi believe?
Well, if Thomas doesn’t provide a reasonable explanation, Yang Yi would have to believe Bruno, although he is the collaborator with the Cleaners and an enemy to the Grey-cloaked People.
Yang Yi was quite surprised because if Thomas wanted to deceive him, he should have followed Yang Yi’s words, just with discrepancies, giving Yang Yi an acceptable answer, rather than outright denial.
The reason is simple; if Thomas and Bruno’s answers are completely opposite, then one of them must be lying. Yang Yi then has to verify as an undercover agent. Yang Yi would naturally tend to believe the Cleaners, but since Bruno knows Yang Yi naturally tends to trust the Cleaners, why would he dare let Yang Yi leave? Why dare say such shocking things to him?
Lying requires skill; when lying, one shouldn’t be overly exaggerated, shocking, or explicit. If you boast too much, people won’t believe you, and what’s the point of lying?
"You said the Cleaners possess nuclear bombs but don’t intend to initiate a nuclear war. So, how can there be talk of rebuilding a new world order?"
Yang Yi appeared restless because Thomas’s words seemed a bit self-contradictory.
The current world order is based on peace achieved through compromises and struggles among several major countries, meaning if the five permanent members fight, it’s a world war. If they remain stable, the world remains unchaotic.
The so-called rebuilding of a new world order means breaking the current international balance, and without war, how else can that be achieved?
It can’t bank on love and peace ushering the Earth into a harmonious new era. If humanity suddenly reached a new height of ideological morality, that would also be considered rebuilding a new order, but even a fool knows that’s entirely impossible.
Even if aliens really invaded, Earthlings couldn’t possibly unite completely; that’s not happening.
"Rebuilding a new world order doesn’t necessarily mean we have to initiate a nuclear war. Please note, what I mean is, we won’t actively seek to establish a new order by starting a war, but after this world has undergone destructive wars, we would have enough power to establish a new world order."
Well, there is indeed a difference, just a matter of being proactive or passive.
Kickstarting a nuclear war, throwing the world into chaos, turning it into a mess, with the Cleaners retaining their strength, waiting to clean up after the war ends, is indeed an opportunity for a sudden rise from darkness to light.
Or just passively waiting for a world war to break out, and after a nuclear war of this destructive nature happens, the Cleaners emerge to clean up or reap the rewards.
However, this possibility seems unrealistic.
Yang Yi would rather believe the Cleaners are plotting to start a nuclear war than believe the world would suddenly fall into nuclear warfare.
"You don’t believe my words?"
After Thomas suddenly asked Yang Yi, Yang Yi nodded and said, "Frankly, I can’t completely believe your words, because when it comes to nuclear war, no rational person would choose that, unless..."
Unless a madman showed up, but it’s useless to discuss this nonsense, so Yang Yi didn’t finish his sentence. Instead, he abruptly changed the topic, "The Grey-cloaked People clearly told me they have the Ark, the Cleaners have the Revelation, which is an alien civilization product, and the Grey-cloaked People even promised to use the Ark to heal my two friends, which means the Grey-cloaked People have the means and capability to verify themselves."
Thomas shrugged and said, "That is indeed a bit troublesome."
"Yes, it’s quite troublesome. If the Grey-cloaked People really presented the Ark, that would prove aliens indeed exist, and with aliens, their crisis inevitably exists. Since the Grey-cloaked People part of it is real, and you say there’s no Revelation, I can’t help but ask, well, if there’s the Ark, why isn’t there a Revelation?"
It’s necessary to be blunt, to get straight to the point.
Yes, the Grey-cloaked People can prove they possess the Ark, but how can the Cleaners prove they don’t have the Revelation? How do they prove the Grey-cloaked People are lying?
Sometimes, proving something is easy, but disproving it is tough.
When a person says they have one hundred dollars and takes it out, they’ve proved they weren’t lying. If someone says they don’t have a hundred dollars, but a search of them reveals a hundred dollars, that’s disproving.
But the issue with the Cleaners isn’t that simple.
The Grey-cloaked People say they have the Ark, and they indeed presented it, thus proving its existence. The Cleaners say they do not have the Revelation, and indeed can’t produce it. But will Yang Yi believe they don’t have the Revelation? No, Yang Yi would think the Cleaners are simply unwilling to reveal it.
That’s why disproving certain things is very challenging.
If Thomas can’t give a reasonable explanation, Yang Yi can’t just immediately choose to trust Bruno, even though he will inevitably develop doubts over the Cleaners.
Thomas, however, laughed, and then he smiled, saying, "Do you really believe in the existence of the Ark? Have you seen it? Used it? No, you’ve only heard about it. Now, let me ask you a question: if the Grey-cloaked People’s purpose is fulfilled even before you confirm they have the Ark, and no need to prove the Ark’s existence to you, do you think that’s possible?"
Thomas’s words aren’t wrong, but the issue is it fails to convince Yang Yi, because someone dares to make a promise, and Thomas can’t give a promise.
Yang Yi said nothing, and Thomas sighed, saying, "Let me tell you something; do you know the true purpose of the Grey-cloaked People?"
"What?"
Thomas calmly said, "White supremacy. Do you think the Cleaners want to destroy the world? No, no, no, the Cleaners don’t want to destroy the world; it’s the Grey-cloaked People who want to ruin this world because they want to establish a world belonging only to white people, so they must first destroy this world; understand?"
