Chapter 1347: Chapter 1352: The Opportunity Arises
Yang Yi felt a headache because he didn’t know who had come to his door.
First, he needed to figure out the identity of his opponent, but Yang Yi had offended too many people recently. To determine who these visitors were, he had to rely a bit on luck.
It all depended on these people’s level. If they spoke and said something discernible, that would be ideal.
Yang Yi switched the screen, watching as three people quickly burst into his room but made almost no sound.
There was video, so naturally, there should be sound. Yang Yi turned up the volume but still heard nothing.
Swift and silent, who could they be?
Spain was no longer United States territory, but the CIA had its reach all over the world, so it was most likely that these people were from the CIA.
Next, it could be the Grey-cloaked People.
The Grey-cloaked People were rooted in Europe, but Yang Yi didn’t know how strong they were. In other words, he didn’t know if they were powerful enough to find him wherever he went.
If the intruders were the Grey-cloaked People, it would be even worse news for Yang Yi. It was terrifying that they could find him despite leaving no traces.
The bedroom had been searched; there was no one inside.
The person searching the bedroom gestured silently to the ones following. After the person checking the bathroom showed a sign indicating no useful traces, Yang Yi realized who these people were.
These three were from the CIA.
The CIA’s operatives in Europe.
Brian and his Magic Box Squadron used to be the CIA’s strongest team. Magic Box had long since declined, but the CIA, of course, had more than just one squadron. That meant the three were all from the CIA’s action team, and they were among the best.
How did Yang Yi figure it out? Through sign language.
The sign language used by Americans was different from the Russians’, and Russians’ was different from Western Europeans’. Although sign language was largely similar, there were many differences between countries and even different units.
From a few simple hand signals, Yang Yi learned a few things. First, these three belonged to the CIA. Second, the leader signaled that the target wasn’t inside, and they should retreat immediately.
Without speaking or making a sound, Yang Yi still got the results he wanted.
What next?
Yang Yi felt conflicted. If Brian or Black Devil were there, with one command, these three would be in dire straits, and capturing one alive wouldn’t be impossible. But now Yang Yi was alone, and he had to put in some effort if he wanted to act.
Yang Yi hesitated and hesitated again, ultimately deciding not to alert these people.
The three retreated quickly. Yang Yi had just decided to let them go, but just as the first was about to leave the hotel room in a flash of decision, he changed his mind.
Yang Yi pressed a button, and immediately the footage from the three cameras he had set up in the hotel went black.
Finally, there was a sound; after a loud bang, silence fell, but Yang Yi knew the bomb he planted had exploded.
If he had detonated it earlier, none of the three would have survived. But detonating the bomb just as they were about to exit, and it being a small bomb, meant they likely wouldn’t die.
Death was unlikely, but injury was certain.
Yang Yi put away his monitor, grabbed a gun from under his pillow, and dashed out of his room.
He needed to figure some things out, needed to know, or else he couldn’t continue down this path, living every moment in fear. Yang Yi felt he would eventually break down.
So it was better to take action, even if risky, as dealing with it properly could bring complete peace of mind.
Yang Yi left the hotel where he was staying, looked around the roadside, and found a car he picked out in the afternoon.
What did it mean to have a car picked out in the afternoon? It meant that Yang Yi anticipated he might need a car, so when someone parked on the side of the road, he used an electronic jammer to record the owner’s key signal. He had chosen four cars then but only one remained there now; that was enough.
Not high-tech, but highly effective, Yang Yi took out the jammer and pressed it, the car he selected flashed its lights.
He opened the door, got in, started the car, and Yang Yi drove no slower than the real owner.
The two hotels were indeed close by. When Yang Yi drove near the five-star hotel, it was already in chaos.
Guests had to be evacuated; after all, there was an explosion, and they couldn’t stay in the hotel. What if there was a fire or a terrorist attack?
Yang Yi parked the car roadside and watched as guests and staff members gradually came out, and the crowd grew larger.
The fire department and police would surely arrive soon. If there were too many people, it wouldn’t be convenient to act.
Yang Yi watched the hotel entrance. Just two minutes after parking, he saw four men clumsily exiting the hotel.
Three of the four had tattered clothes, looking dusty and dirty, and one seemed fine except for being drenched in blood.
Three entered, and one stayed outside to assist. That must be it. The question was whether there were people outside the hotel waiting to assist them.
According to CIA habits or the personnel allocation in Spain, Yang Yi doubted there were over five people.
Spies weren’t cabbages; elite operatives were even less so. The CIA had 30,000 employees and over 50,000 informants worldwide. Many gathered economic and political intelligence, but those dedicated to arson and killing were scarce.
It’s likely these four were the only people the CIA could mobilize in Spain.
If it were Brian’s group in the same situation — an ambush with a remotely controlled bomb — no one could escape.
One seemed severely injured, judging by the color of the clothes; Yang Yi recognized it was the last one of the three.
Four people were supporting each other out of the hotel. They certainly couldn’t be caught by the police. When hotel staff saw the injured, they rushed to help, but the uninjured one rudely pushed them away, stumbling towards a car at the hotel entrance.
It didn’t look like they had support. Yang Yi sensed his opportunity.
