Chapter 1309: Chapter 1314: Do You Need a Parachute

It was very simple. Yang Yi easily made contact with the person Aaron sent to pick him up. It was so simple there’s nothing more to say.

"Was your journey here smooth?"

Yang Yi shook his head and said, "Not smooth. We encountered an attack, but that’s quite normal, isn’t it."

The person supposed to leave with Yang Yi wasn’t a soldier, but an intelligence officer. In short, this person wasn’t from the CIA, but he was also involved in intelligence work. As for which department he was from, Yang Yi didn’t ask.

These days, the United States has many intelligence agencies. The Department of Homeland Security has "homeland" in its name, but its activities aren’t limited to the US mainland.

The Pentagon also has its own intelligence sources because the Pentagon and the CIA don’t get along.

Foreign intelligence is the CIA’s primary function, but now the CIA is quite the underdog. Still, in the United States, the CIA remains the largest intelligence organization, a situation that won’t change anytime soon.

Then there’s the FBI. On US soil, no one can match the FBI because its authority extends so broadly. Despite being weakened over the decades, the FBI remains the strongest law enforcement unit domestically, and its intelligence capabilities are unmatched. Although officially the FBI doesn’t have an intelligence role, that hasn’t stopped them from sending people abroad.

The person meeting Yang Yi extended his hand proactively. He shook hands with Yang Yi and said seriously, "You can call me Jason."

"Hello, Jason."

"Someone came with you but then left?"

"Yes, his identity isn’t suitable to be here. Everyone has secrets, don’t they."

Yang Yi smiled gently, and Jason also smiled slightly. He glanced at his watch and then said, "Let’s board the plane. It’s about to take off. I can board first. I think that’s a bit safer. Once we’re on the plane, there’s no problem."

"Okay, let’s board the plane."

Yang Yi had no objections. He and Reggie followed behind Jason. The three of them left the office and arrived at the side of the runway, boarding a C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft.

The C-17 Globemaster is a strategic transport aircraft that can also handle tactical transport missions. Overall, this aircraft is still one of the most advanced transport planes in the world, and it’s very large, extremely large.

Yang Yi followed Jason through the rear hatch into the plane. Inside the cargo hold was a row of fixed seats. Jason gestured with his hand, smiling, "It’s an empty flight. This plane is flying back to the United States empty and will then bring over what’s needed here. But an empty return flight is rare, and this time it’s for you. Hmm, have you flown on this kind of plane before?"

"No."

Yang Yi replied blandly and sat down in a chair.

He felt a bit anxious because he thought the janitor would stop him from leaving with the items. But now that he was on the plane, there was no movement at all.

If nothing indeed happened and the flight really returned to the United States, it would be difficult to handle.

But on the surface, Yang Yi remained very calm, extremely calm.

Reggie was truly excited because he really wanted to return to the United States as soon as possible.

In the silent wait, the cargo plane’s rear ramp quickly closed, and at exactly 1:10 PM, the plane’s engines started running and soon began taxiing.

Yang Yi was extremely nervous because right now it seemed unlikely that there would be any changes. Unless the janitor planned to shoot him down from the air, once the plane took off, there really was no option but to go to the United States.

As the plane lifted off, Yang Yi sighed internally, knowing he could only prepare for what awaited him after returning to the United States.

It was quiet, though the noise from the transport plane was somewhat loud, and staying in the cargo hold wasn’t very comfortable. But ten minutes after takeoff, Jason, sitting next to Yang Yi, finally relaxed completely.

"We’re safe. You know now no one can touch us. We’re very safe."

Emphasizing safety once more, Jason looked at his watch and smiled, "It’s going to be a long flight. You can rest for a while. It’s just us here, so if you want to take a nap, there’s plenty of room. Hahaha."

Jason’s joke wasn’t funny, but Yang Yi still smiled and said, "Not sleepy yet, maybe later. We have a long flight, no rush to sleep."

Jason shrugged. He didn’t want to sleep either, so he sat in the not-so-comfortable chair in a daze, not knowing what he was thinking or if he was really dazing off.

Twenty minutes into the flight, the plane suddenly shook violently like encountering turbulence. This kind of shake was normal, but unusually, the shake happened only once.

Yang Yi looked at Reggie, exchanged a glance with him, and whispered, "Did you feel that?"

"Of course! The shake was so obvious!"

"I mean, did you feel the turn?"

Reggie’s face looked grim. He nodded and said, "Yes, it turned, and it was a rapid turn, almost like performing evasive maneuvers, though not as intense."

Jason appeared a bit nervous. He lowered his voice and said, "Hey guys, I’m not that knowledgeable about flying, but your conversation is making me a little nervous."

Reggie seemed quite frustrated, lowering his voice as well, "You should be nervous because what just happened isn’t normal, sir. This plane shouldn’t have experienced that kind of shake and shouldn’t have turned."

Jason licked his lips and whispered, "Could you explain that simply?"

"It’s like the difference between driving over a bumpy road and driving fast over a high speed bump, and this time you made a sharp turn right after crossing the bump."

Jason paused for a moment and said, "Isn’t that unusual?"

Reggie and Yang Yi said in unison, "Very unusual."

Reggie exhaled, "We’re in the sky, there are no speed bumps. To get a speed bump effect, you have to manually control it."

Jason’s face turned even grimmer. He trembled as he said, "So, could there be a problem in the cockpit?"

Yang Yi nodded, and Reggie, looking like he was about to cry, said, "The most reasonable answer is yes!"

Jason covered his forehead with his hand and whispered, "Fuck! Shit! Oh god! How could this happen? I’m... I’m supposed to be in a desk job!"

Yang Yi exhaled and said to Reggie, "Let’s go check the cockpit."

Reggie whispered, "Should we take a gun? But don’t fire it in the cockpit, no, try not to fire it..."

Yang Yi nodded. The cargo hold of a military transport plane is connected to the cockpit, but there’s a door, and it’s quite sturdy.

Yang Yi walked to the door, listened for a while, then gestured for Reggie to get ready. He placed his hand on the door handle. If it wasn’t locked, this door should open with a pull.

At that moment, Jason suddenly said, "Hey guys, I have a suggestion, um, should we put on parachutes first? Uh, there are parachutes here. Good thing we’re not on a commercial airliner. I mean, do you want to put on parachutes?"
