Chapter 1307: Chapter 1312 Anyone

Yang Yi thought about staying another night in Baghdad, making Aaron even more anxious, but as soon as it got dark, Aaron called Yang Yi.

"Tonight at 1:20, there’s a C-17 transport plane departing from Baghdad’s Al Asad Airbase to Miami in the United States. I’ve arranged someone at the airport to pick you up. If you can get to the airport and board the plane, you’ll definitely return safely!"

Yang Yi thought for a moment, then he whispered, "I’ll try."

Aaron didn’t say how Yang Yi should get to the airport, nor who would assist him. He just mentioned the time and the place, leaving everything else up to Yang Yi’s decision. This means Yang Yi could choose to go or not to go.

Returning to the United States to meet Aaron means the time for revealing everything has arrived. Unless Yang Yi wants to waste the efforts and sacrifices of the cleaners, he must hand over the items to the Grey-cloaked People. And after handing over the items, would Aaron still allow Yang Yi to access the core secrets of the Grey-cloaked People?

It’s hard to say, really hard to say. Although now Yang Yi’s competence is far stronger than before, and the Organization of Water is already large and powerful enough, whether the Grey-cloaked People are willing to truly accept Yang Yi remains a question.

The sky was already dark, and it was past eight o’clock. Yang Yi put down the phone and then asked Brian, "What should we do?"

Brian whispered, "I feel it’s a test. If you don’t go to the airport, then Aaron has reason to suspect you’re deliberately delaying. Regardless of your excuse, suspicion is suspicion. If you don’t want to be doubted, then you have to go."

Trust is a difficult thing to explain. After countless tests, it can still be lost over a small incident. Moreover, trust is intangible; even if you want to understand whether you’ve lost it, there’s no way to do so.

Yang Yi pondered for a moment, then he raised his head and said solemnly, "We go to the airport."

Brian looked at his watch and said, "The Black Devil has already gathered in Baghdad. By this time, they should all be there. If you’re leaving, you should inform the Black Devil’s side."

Yang Yi sighed, then he whispered, "I can’t return to the United States because I’m not yet at a desperate point. Without being desperate, I can’t make excessive demands of the Grey-cloaked People. What constitutes excessive demands?"

He extended two fingers and said seriously, "I demand Aaron agree to one thing: to expedite treatment for Zhang Yong and Xiao Ran. This is the condition I believe Aaron can bear."

Brian shrugged and said, "That condition’s not excessive, but what if you lose the chance to become a core member of the Grey-cloaked People because of this demand?"

Yang Yi sighed deeply and said, "Doesn’t matter. If I have to choose between Xiao Ran and Brother Yong’s health or my ambitions, I would obviously choose Brother Yong and Xiao Ran’s health. Um, that’s it."

Brian understood Yang Yi; bringing up old topics signifies Yang Yi’s desire to firm his resolve.

"So how do you use a reasonable excuse not to return?"

Yang Yi took a deep breath and whispered, "Have to rely on the cleaners. They’ve already paid a high price, so I suppose they won’t mind paying a bit more."

Yang Yi picked up a phone, which he had Salib help buy in Baghdad, and sent a text message.

This phone was provided by the cleaners. Although purchased through Salib’s hands, it genuinely has no connection with Salib. Currently, communication between the cleaners and Yang Yi is poor, which severely impacts their plans. So a direct short-term contact method seems very important.

Having sent the text, Yang Yi whispered to Brian, "We prepare to go to the airport."

"Now?"

"Right now, using Reggie’s fake identity. Um, things might happen on the way, so be careful."

Brian understood the implication of Yang Yi’s words and said solemnly, "Are you sure?"

"Don’t know how the cleaners will act, but they’ll definitely take action."

With the ongoing matters, Yang Yi suddenly felt bored because he could balance between several forces, using other’s power to achieve his goals, yet all of this can’t act as the main force. He could borrow power but couldn’t flexibly use his own strength to reach the goals.

This feeling is unpleasant. Yang Yi suddenly felt somewhat envious of Gong Yang; although Gong Yang and Satan’s life in Mosul is uncertain, he could do whatever he wants.

Different battlefield, different combat style, Yang Yi knows he’ll never be like Gong Yang in determining his fate, so he indeed feels a bit envious of Gong Yang.

"Let’s go, head to the airport. It’s not that convenient. If we want to catch this flight, we must act swiftly."

After finishing, Yang Yi walked out of his room with his bag. He knocked on Reggie’s door and said, "Let’s go."

Upon seeing Salib, Brian said solemnly, "Can you find us a car?"

Salib instinctively replied, "A car? Leaving now?"

"Yes."

Salib hesitated for a while, then he rubbed his fingers and said, "It’ll cost money, at least five thousand dollars, selling the car to you."

Brian didn’t hesitate and immediately said, "Alright, give you the money. When will you deliver the car? No stolen car, no car with a shady history. You must give me a clean car. If the car you provide has issues, I’ll trouble you."

Salib thought for a moment and said, "Ten thousand dollars!"

"Ten thousand, fine. Money’s not the problem, but if the car has issues, then you’ve got problems."

With a smile, tapping Salib’s shoulder, Brian said, "Now quickly get me a car, we urgently need it."

Salib left, and after about half an hour, he returned driving a shabby Hyundai sedan.

"Half a tank of gas; could take you quite a distance. Although it looks a bit worn, the engine is fine."

Yang Yi didn’t want to dwell too much on this car. Brian promptly paid, and the three of them drove this dilapidated car away from Salib’s place.

After driving out of two blocks, Yang Yi stopped the car, he glanced at the pitch-black surroundings, then turned off the headlights and said to Brian, "Wait for me a bit, I’m going to steal that white car."

Reggie was taken aback and said, "Why steal a car?"

Yang Yi shrugged and said, "We don’t know if there’s a bomb in the car Salib provided, don’t know if it’s a stolen car, don’t know if it’s been used by terrorists and is on the U.S. military’s blacklist. Many uncertainties could bring danger, so we obviously need to switch cars."

"Then why did we buy a car?"

Brian calmly said, "Just to divert attention. If Salib wants to pull something, at least he’ll target the car he sold us first. Didn’t I say, in Baghdad, you can trust anyone, just anyone!"
