Chapter 1229: Chapter 1234: Unidentified Object
Moscow.
After Yang Yi and Anton landed, they went straight to the hotel, where they waited for Annastasia and Brian, and Kate also arrived in Moscow.
Kate brought Yang Yi a bag of clothes, from inside out, including shoes and socks, and then, under Kate’s watchful eyes, Yang Yi took off all his clothes.
Getting undressed was just to make sure there were no bugs on him, but taking off the clothes wasn’t enough; Kate took two electronic scanners and started scanning Yang Yi from head to toe.
Yang Yi had undergone surgery before, so if any tracking or eavesdropping device was hidden inside his body, it wouldn’t be surprising at all.
There was no response after the full body scan, but that was surely not the end; Kate picked up a signal detector.
In modern technological conditions, there are so many ways to eavesdrop or monitor, so many that it’s hard to prevent them. Conditions that could ensure safety are now riddled with loopholes.
To detect whether any electronic signals were emitted from within Yang Yi’s body, he couldn’t be exposed to a complex electromagnetic environment.
Whether it’s mobile signals, WiFi signals, TV signals, all kinds of wireless electronic signals fill the space of human activity, so in the city, any place belongs to a complex electromagnetic condition environment.
While checking whether Yang Yi had any hidden monitoring devices in his body, he also needed to get into a metal foil bag, using the small environment completely encapsulated by metal foil to isolate external electronic signals before testing.
The test results showed completely no electronic signals, but that still didn’t guarantee anything.
"Test, test."
Yang Yi said a word while in the bag, then watched as the values on the detector showed no change, allowing him to relax a bit.
Why say something? Because hidden bugs might be sound-activated, meaning if not speaking, the bugs wouldn’t work. They start to work and send signals when sound is detected, so of course, Yang Yi had to speak to test.
When he crawled out of the bag, Yang Yi was drenched in sweat.
Was it over now? Not yet.
Yang Yi took a quick rinse and changed into the clothes Kate brought him, then he left his room and went to Annastasia and Brian’s room.
There was a portable X-ray machine in the room.
X-ray machines are widely used in medical and security, and any hidden object inside the body can be intuitively detected.
From the preliminary examination, it seemed that Yang Yi didn’t have anything unusual in his body.
But Brian quickly frowned, then looked at Anna, who stared at the image on the X-ray machine for a long time and eventually shook her head.
Not talking at all, no communication, Yang Yi didn’t know what Brian and Anna meant, but when Anna folded her hands to make a gesture, Yang Yi knew there were still some troubles.
After such detailed inspections, have they finally found something that shouldn’t be there?
Thinking about the things he talked about privately with Anton, Yang Yi began to feel uneasy because he had mentioned some topics that weren’t very damning but certainly shouldn’t have been said.
Annastasia made a gesture which Yang Yi understood as a sign for him to go to the hospital.
Seems like there’s some trouble.
Feeling a bit anxious, Yang Yi obediently walked to the side, gestured towards Kate, and then returned to his room alone, quietly awaiting Anton’s inspection results.
More than half an hour later, there was a knock on Yang Yi’s door, and then Anton walked in with a neutral expression and said, "No new developments, I’m a bit hungry, let’s go eat first."
Yang Yi touched his head and, with a helpless expression but relaxed tone, said, "Alright, let’s grab a bite."
Yang Yi and Anton got into the car Brian was driving.
After the car drove a bit, Anna turned around and nodded at Anton, who then switched on a small jammer. From now on, within a fifty-meter radius where they were, no one could make or receive calls.
Yang Yi has something on his collarbone that probably didn’t grow there itself, and Anton also has one on his rib. In the X-ray images, they look similar. Even though there’s no signal, they should be checked and removed."
Previously it was inspection; during inspection, nothing was disturbed to find the interference source. Now it’s interference, and they can speak under interference.
But the problem is that no one knows what the extra things inside Yang Yi are or if conventional interference will work.
In the absence of certainty about being monitored, Yang Yi and the others would say nothing. So how to check what’s abnormal on Yang Yi’s collarbone? Surgery is the only answer.
So Yang Yi needed to get cut; although the surgery wasn’t big, nobody likes to undergo surgery without reason, right?
In the hospital, Yang Yi and Anton were separated, and after anesthesia, a doctor cut into Yang Yi’s newly healed shoulder, finding and removing a rice-grain-sized object from his collarbone eventually.
When the foreign object was taken out and cleaned, it was clear it was a man-made object, but what it did, Yang Yi and the others couldn’t tell.
No antenna, no apparent switch, felt hard to the touch but certainly not metal, and no electronic signal was detected; for anything that was done to those objects from Yang Yi and Anton’s bodies, they seemed useless.
If nothing could be seen from the outside, then destruction was the only option for inspection.
Brian carefully cut open one with a scalpel, quickly saying, "It should be poison, the shell’s composition is unknown, but it will surely break under certain external factors, potentially killing you."
Yang Yi was finally free of the weight on his mind. Since he got injured and had surgery, he had been worried about being monitored. Now knowing the result, the Grey-cloaked People did indeed plant a lethal poison inside him, which strangely put Yang Yi at ease.
Why was Yang Yi relieved? Because the Grey-cloaked People didn’t fully trust him, which meant they didn’t have complete confidence. This indicated that Aaron didn’t have absolute faith in Yang Yi’s potential defection. The notion, previously leading Yang Yi to paranoia and a severe blow to his confidence due to Aaron’s attitude, now delighted him knowing Aaron wasn’t entirely confident in him.
If Yang Yi knew Aaron already completely trusted him, that would be truly concerning instead.
