Chapter 1165 - 1170: Time to Eat
Chapter 1165: Chapter 1170: Time to Eat
"No need to leave any of them alive." That statement sounded a bit exaggerated, but Yang Yi didn’t mean to wipe out the entire Russian Gang to the last man. After all, the Russian Gang was a large syndicate with hundreds of members. If they were to slaughter over a hundred people, all dying uniformly of heart attacks, it would be even more terrifying than a bloody shootout. It would be impossible not to make the news.
What Yang Yi meant was: anyone who needs to die, don’t leave them alive.
Danny chuckled, then looked at Yang Yi earnestly and asked, "What’s the cost?"
"Minimal. Just a side project. I didn’t pay too high a price for your sake. Captain, you really don’t need to worry about that."
Danny served himself another bowl of rice and said nonchalantly, "I’m full, but I couldn’t resist another bowl. Little Yang, have you really hit the big time now?"
"Mhm."
"I know it’s rude to ask about your net worth, but I can’t help myself. How much are you worth now? You’ve definitely surpassed ten million by now, right? Do you have fifty million?"
Yang Yi hesitated for a moment before lowering his voice. "More."
"One hundred million?!"
"Mhm, more..."
Everyone eating at the table stopped their chopsticks mid-air. Danny wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. After a moment of stunned silence, he cautiously asked Yang Yi, "You’re not past one billion, are you?"
Yang Yi paused, nodded again, and said, "More or less. Captain, if you need money, just say the word."
"No, no, I’m not asking to use your money. It’s just that, well, we’re close and all, but debts have to be settled. That’s my rule, and it’s the rule of the Dark Night Knight. Let me put it this way: if your net worth were just a few million, tossing a few hundred thousand your way wouldn’t be unreasonable."
"So what? The amount you give depends on my net worth now?"
Looking distressed, Danny said, "Exactly. The help you’ve given can’t be measured in monetary terms. Since it can’t be measured, I’ve got to go based on your net worth. If it’s an amount you’d scoff at, why would I even bother offering it? Originally, I thought a few million would suffice, but now that’s clearly not enough. Even raising tens of millions among our brothers is doable, though, yeah..."
Yang Yi cleared his throat softly and said, "Captain, forget the money. I really don’t need it."
Danny responded calmly, "Don’t bother saying that. Rules are rules. When I take money from you, I don’t hesitate. When it’s time to repay you, I won’t hold back or play dumb either."
Yang Yi gave a wry smile and said, "We’re brothers. Let’s just be candid... I don’t need money. If you insist on basing your help on my net worth, there’s a good chance you couldn’t afford to repay me..."
Danny turned to look at Yang Yi. Yang Yi said quietly, "Right now, my net worth is approaching one hundred billion. Once the bank acquisition goes through, I’ll officially cross the one-hundred-billion mark."
Danny’s jaw dropped slightly, and a few grains of rice fell out of Ah Yao’s mouth.
Danny scratched his ear and asked, "Are you speaking English right now?"
"I am. You heard me right. My net worth will soon surpass one hundred billion. As for my current assets... well, I’m not entirely sure, but I know it’s definitely over ten billion. After all, I’ve just raised a few billion US dollars in cash. Oh, and I almost forgot—I’ve already taken over Deyo’s arms company. A conservative estimate would be five billion, at least."
Suddenly, Danny waved his chopsticks and called out to the group with a faux-stern expression, "Focus on eating! The food’s getting cold. Come on, eat!"
Yang Yi took a couple of bites of his rice and quietly said, "Captain, if you guys ever need money, I’m happy to lend you a few billion. Or we can set up a business venture together—I’ll invest, and we can go clean and run a legit operation."
Danny waggled his chopsticks again and barked, "Just eat!"
Yang Yi shrugged and said, "Sorry, Captain. I didn’t mean anything by it."
Setting his bowl down, Danny looked at Yang Yi and said, "This time, I owe you a favor."
"Actually, this time, I was repaying a favor to you. You don’t have to..."
Danny waved his hand dismissively, cutting him off. "One thing doesn’t cancel out another. The Dark Night Knight owes you, and that’s final. Discussion over."
With that decisive statement, Danny continued in a composed tone, "We all came from the same place back home. We’ve all been soldiers. It wasn’t easy to make it this far. Our status isn’t that high, but we’ve made decent money. Most importantly, our brotherhood has stayed intact through it all. That’s the hardest thing to find."
As Danny spoke, a solemn expression settled on the faces of the Dark Night Knight crew. They knew what he was going to say next.
Looking at Yang Yi, Danny spoke with calm resolve. "When it comes to risking our necks, we’ve never been afraid of anyone! London—what kind of enemies haven’t we faced here? The thrill of clashing with others—that’s our game! We can be assassins; we can be gunmen. Holding onto a nice restaurant is just about giving the brothers a spot to have tea. Investing in some business venture—that’s not something we care about. Truth is, if we started dabbling in other things, this brotherhood of ours would eventually fall apart."
Yang Yi sat quietly, listening.
Picking up a teacup, Danny took a small sip and added softly, "I appreciate the goodwill, but the money’s unnecessary. If we ever felt like doing something else, we would’ve done it long ago."
Yang Yi nodded and said, "Alright, I understand, Captain."
Danny carried on, "We lost this time because we got careless. Just because no one’s dared mess with us for years doesn’t mean no one ever will. The Russian Gang isn’t even a worthy adversary, yet they had the nerve to go after the Dark Night Knight. Clearly, it’s time we reassert ourselves and remind everyone of who we are."
Yang Yi spoke gravely, "Captain, I..."
Danny waved him off. "I know what you’re about to say: no news coverage, revenge in silence, right? Don’t worry. You’ve already told me, and I’ll make sure you’re not put in a tight spot. Making it look like an accident? We can do that—we’ve done it before."
Yang Yi smirked bitterly. "Captain, are you underestimating me?"
"What kind of thing is that to say?"
"Then don’t act like that. This is your mess, but I’m here, and I’m going to help. Are you going to let me or not? Just so you know, the people I’ve brought with me are professionals. Plus, I’ve got a toxin that can cause heart failure without leaving any autopsy traces."
After a moment’s thought, Danny smiled and said, "I wasn’t planning to trouble you, but considering that revenge needs to be discreet... discretion usually means once we strike, the Russian Gang might scatter. So... thank you in advance."
Yang Yi smiled. "Perfect. Just tell me when we start."
Danny replied without hesitation, "After we finish this meal."
Direct enough—finish eating, then get to work. Danny clearly wasn’t one to waste a single second.
"So, what’s the plan?"
"You’ve got poison, right? First, we track down the Russian Gang’s leader, Bashanov. Force him to drink the poison, then work our way through them one by one. Anyone with any bit of stature—none of them get to escape. But I need to find Bashanov first and ask him where he got the nerve to mess with us!"
Yang Yi nodded. "Alright. Let’s capture Bashanov first. Once we’ve gotten some answers, we’ll make him take the poison."
