Chapter 1162: Chapter 1167: Release the Hostage First

If a gang were to block the way, it’d just be laughable—no, it’d be downright ridiculous.

Whether the Organization of Water is weak or strong, there’s no way they’d treat a gang as a worthy opponent. Why? Because gangs don’t deserve that kind of recognition.

After all, it’s a spy organization—it ranks leagues above something as pedestrian as a gang.

So, Yang Yi and Xiao Feng could go anywhere as if they owned the place. If someone dared to stop them, whether that person lived or died would be entirely up to Yang Yi’s whim.

Next up, naturally, was heading straight to the police station.

Danny was being held in a high-security facility—the London police station used to temporarily detain serious offenders. By any measure, Danny was the most dangerous criminal in the United Kingdom.

As such, though Xiao Feng now believed Yang Yi was impressive, he still doubted whether Yang Yi could actually get Danny out.

Because this involved two completely different realms—two different manifestations of power or authority. Yang Yi was a great fighter, he had many capable people under him, and his team could crush a gang with overwhelming force.

But to make Scotland Yard unconditionally release not just one but several dangerous individuals? Was that really possible?

Yang Yi parked the stolen car in a lot near Scotland Yard, then said to Xiao Feng in a low voice, "We’re almost there. Let’s wait here for a bit."

"How long are we waiting?"

"Uh, fifteen more minutes until the agreed time. Just fifteen minutes. If no one comes to meet me after that, we’ll head back."

Yang Yi and Xiao Feng sat quietly in the car, waiting for fifteen minutes.

As time ran out, Yang Yi, initially confident, began losing his optimism. He thought it should all go smoothly, but Gary Keene hadn’t shown up, which clearly meant something had gone wrong.

Yang Yi let out a heavy sigh, his face darkening.

"Let’s go. Looks like I did misjudge the situation."

Yang Yi restarted the car engine. Xiao Feng asked softly, "We’re not waiting anymore? It’s not going to work?"

Yang Yi nodded, "Looks like it’s not going to happen, so we should head back and figure out a new plan to get the captain out."

At this point, "get out" was no longer the right phrasing; Yang Yi had switched to "rescue."

He didn’t feel particularly embarrassed or defeated; it was just that Yang Yi genuinely started to sense trouble.

After hesitating briefly, Xiao Feng suggested softly, "Why don’t we wait a little longer? How about another five minutes?"

Yang Yi thought it over and finally nodded, "Alright, another ten minutes. Maybe there’s traffic."

Five minutes later, Yang Yi was losing hope. He shook his head and told Xiao Feng, "Let’s go."

"But it hasn’t been ten minutes yet."

"It’s meaningless now. They clearly don’t take me seriously. Since they won’t release him, we’ll rescue him ourselves, and the consequences and responsibility will fall entirely on the British side."

Yang Yi’s words weren’t harsh, but they carried a certain weight. Xiao Feng stared at him for a moment and remarked, "Your tone really sounds commanding."

Just then, a car sped over and abruptly stopped at the curb. Gary Keene stepped out of the vehicle, looking around before taking out his phone.

Yang Yi froze for a moment before muttering, "He actually came!"

Xiao Feng, both surprised and delighted, said, "He came? Then there’s still hope, right?"

"Let me go check."

Yang Yi opened the door and stepped out of the car. Standing by the vehicle, he waved to Gary Keene.

Gary Keene spotted Yang Yi and, looking visibly relieved, quickly dashed over.

"Sorry, it took me too long to convince my boss, and then I ran into a traffic jam on the way here. Luckily, you waited for me."

As Gary Keene spoke, another person got out of his car—a solemn-looking man, around fifty years old, who stared in their direction.

Gary Keene lowered his voice and said, "That’s my boss. You’ll need to negotiate with him about your conditions and demands. In principle, there’s no issue, but we’ll need his agreement. Everyone must make some compromises. Can you do that?"

Yang Yi thought for a moment before replying, "Alright, let’s talk then."

Opening the door, Yang Yi handed a walkie-talkie to Xiao Feng, who was still seated inside, and said, "I’m going to discuss things with them. If anything happens or you notice anything, use this to contact me."

Xiao Feng nodded. Yang Yi shut the car door and followed Gary Keene over to the stern-looking middle-aged man.

"Hello."

"Hello."

"Allow me to introduce myself—I’m James Wall. I’ve heard a lot about you. It’s a pleasure to meet you today."

Yang Yi extended his hand to shake James’s, smiling as he said, "The pleasure is mine."

Standing by the car, James looked at Yang Yi thoughtfully and then directly stated, "We’re very interested in the information you’ve provided, especially intelligence related to Brexit. Could you explain it to me in more detail?"

After saying this, James added apologetically, "We’ve seriously considered your request. Personally, I don’t think it’s unreasonable, but the case’s level is extremely high, and the decision-makers above us sometimes don’t understand the reality for those of us doing the actual work. So..."

Breaking off briefly, James then continued with a serious expression, "We have an additional condition. It’s not unreasonable. We need you to detail how you obtained this intelligence. If you can provide more specifics, like when and from whom the information was passed to the CIA, we’ll release them immediately. I’ll personally handle it and ensure the quickest resolution."

Details on how the intelligence was obtained?

That would essentially be two pieces of intelligence.

Yang Yi had told Gary Keene that the CIA already knew about Britain’s Brexit plans—a piece of intelligence. Revealing how that information was obtained would practically expose the CIA’s highest-level mole in Britain, saving MI5 a ton of trouble.

So naturally, Yang Yi couldn’t divulge too much.

"Release them first, and we’ll discuss the rest after."

Yang Yi was resolute. The priority was to release Danny; any other matters could be dealt with later. MI5 shouldn’t think they could use Danny as a bargaining chip to negotiate with him.

If MI5 wouldn’t cooperate to get Danny out, Yang Yi would simply switch partners. MI6 would certainly jump at the chance to handle this case.

James’s face darkened slightly. Yang Yi said softly, "Mr. Wall, I’m in a hurry, and using my friend as a bargaining chip makes me very unhappy."

At moments like this, it was crucial not to leave the other party with too much room for wishful thinking.

James Wall looked at Yang Yi’s stern, uncompromising expression, thought for a moment, and finally said, "Alright, we’ll release them first. Follow me."
