Chapter 1161: Chapter 1166: The Old Lady
When Xiao Feng followed Yang Yi out of the restaurant, his expression remained somewhat tense.
Just because Yang Yi said there was no problem didn’t mean there really wasn’t any. To truly set Xiao Feng’s mind at ease, he needed to see proof that everything was actually fine. And right now? Yang Yi hadn’t proven anything yet.
"Be careful. The Russian Gang hasn’t found our hideout yet, but they definitely know we’re holing up in Chinatown. What I’m worried about now is that they might have already blocked off the streets around Chinatown. So, we need to be extra cautious."
Yang Yi asked curiously, "Does the Russian Gang really have that much power? Daring to openly block off roads? Who gave them the guts? The United Kingdom isn’t their playground, is it?"
With an annoyed look, Xiao Feng replied, "The Russians have hired people from North Africa. When the cops see them, they immediately lose ground. Of course, they wouldn’t dare block off roads in the way police do, but I’m certain they’ve got people watching us."
"I’m just wondering—can they even tell the difference between Asian faces?"
After hesitating for a moment, Xiao Feng said, "That’s a bit challenging for them, but if they’re comparing faces to photos, they might be able to manage."
The two chatted briefly before Xiao Feng’s expression suddenly stiffened. He said urgently, "Russians—those two guys over there in black."
Yang Yi looked over. Two middle-aged men in Adidas tracksuits were smoking on the roadside, their eyes constantly scanning their surroundings, never stopping for a moment.
Yang Yi took a deep breath and said, "This doesn’t seem right. That doesn’t look like the style of the Russian Mafia. They just look like street thugs."
"They are just low-level henchmen. What, did you really think everyone in the Russian Gang wore black suits or something? Russians have this bizarre obsession with Adidas—in Russia, in the United Kingdom, it’s all the same."
Frowning deeply, Xiao Feng said, "No cops in sight. This place must be swarming with Russian Gang members. Looks like they’re ready to get brutal. We need to figure something out. We can’t just..."
Yang Yi raised a hand, then pointed subtly at the two Russians. But he only pointed for a moment before withdrawing his hand, making sure the two Russians didn’t notice his movement.
"What are you doing?"
Just as Xiao Feng spoke, two people suddenly emerged from the nearby crowd.
One of them was Zhang Yong. His face was the perfect disguise in Chinatown.
The other was Paul.
Zhang Yong and Paul walked right up to the two Russians simultaneously. The Russians sensed something was off and immediately tossed their cigarettes to the ground.
One of the Russians shouted something at Zhang Yong, his expression full of suspicion, but Zhang Yong simply turned his head slightly to glance at him. With an indifferent air, he continued walking forward.
Zhang Yong and Paul passed right by the Russians, sandwiching them in between, forming a neat line as they crossed paths.
As Zhang Yong walked away, the Russian beside him collapsed to the ground clutching his neck, completely motionless.
The Russian near Paul also fell, writhing on the ground clutching his neck.
But after writhing for just a few seconds, the second Russian stopped moving entirely.
Without a sound, eerily calm, as if nothing had happened at all.
Xiao Feng stared in a daze, scratching his head. Full of confusion, he asked Yang Yi, "What just happened?"
Yang Yi shrugged and said, "The Russians were ready to go lethal. So we went lethal too. Fair, right?"
"Uh, yeah. Fair!"
After hesitating for a moment, Xiao Feng said to Yang Yi, "I mean, how did they pull that off? I didn’t see any blood."
Yang Yi spread his hands. "One had his neck snapped. The other one... honestly, I don’t know. Everyone has their own special talents, you know what I mean?"
Still frowning, Xiao Feng said, "Even though you make it sound so simple, and the situation looks pretty good, something still feels off."
"What feels off?"
"It’s just... too easy, isn’t it?"
"Not easy at all—it’s hardly easy! They showed their faces and got involved, didn’t they?"
Xiao Feng continued to frown as he followed Yang Yi forward for a couple of steps. Yang Yi casually approached a car, opened the door, and got in effortlessly.
"You arranged this car?"
"Nope, I took a cab here."
"Then whose car is this?"
"Oh, I stole it. Didn’t you see me picking the lock earlier?"
Xiao Feng sucked in a breath and said, "I was still at the hospital when you left—I didn’t know you had this skill. Huh, pretty impressive."
"Eh, it’s not bad. Mainly the captain found me a good school for training—lots of talented people there. Apart from the nasty talk, terrible food, and the constant risk of losing your... uh, dignity—it was pretty decent overall. That’s where I learned this trick."
As soon as he finished speaking, Yang Yi started the car, his demeanor relaxed. "Good thing everything worked out; I thought I might embarrass myself back there."
With a dark expression, Xiao Feng said, "Stop showing off. Now I’m starting to believe you can handle this."
Yang Yi drove the car forward, and Xiao Feng’s expression suddenly tightened again. "Russians! A lot of them! They must be armed. Be careful—Russians play dirty. They wouldn’t hesitate to use guns on the streets. There must be others monitoring the area; more people will show up..."
As Xiao Feng spoke, he trailed off. The three aggressive cars speeding toward them suddenly stopped short. Before anyone could get out of the vehicles, two individuals emerged from the sides of the road, raised their shirts, brought out handguns fitted with silencers, and began firing into the cars.
Silencers aren’t as quiet as in the movies; the "pop-pop" sound was still loud, although notably subdued—enough not to cause panic among pedestrians immediately.
After firing, the two shooters tucked their handguns back into their jackets and continued walking nonchalantly, leaving behind three cars streaked with blood on the windows.
Yang Yi maneuvered the car around the stalled vehicles. Xiao Feng gasped and said, "Was this your doing?"
"Not me. All I did was call them and tell them the location. Someone else planned the rest. These folks were probably sent by a... certain ’old lady.’ Feels like her style."
"An old lady? That ruthless? Killing people in broad daylight? That’s insane!"
"Yep. Russian old ladies are like that. When it comes to being vicious, even the Russian Mafia can’t compare to her. I called her before I arrived. She figured this approach worked, so she went with it."
"What kind of old lady is this? What’s her deal?"
"She works for me now. Used to be with the KGB."
With an enlightened look, Xiao Feng nodded and said, "Oh, no wonder. Hah, no wonder! The KGB, huh? Yeah, they’re famously brutal."
Yang Yi drove while glancing around and said, "No more people? The Russian Gang isn’t that strong, huh? Just a handful of guys?"
Xiao Feng exhaled heavily. "The Russian Gang certainly isn’t just a few people. Well, maybe... maybe these were just lookouts."
