Chapter 1160: Chapter 1165: Pick Up
Having dinner with Gary Keene lasted an hour, and after that, the two of them left the restaurant together.
Yang Yi, with a confident smile, got into a car and then flagged down a taxi, instructing the driver: "To Chinatown."
The group, including Xiao Feng, was hiding in Chinatown. Unless there was a city-wide and highly rigorous search, London police wouldn’t find them. But no one could say for sure how long this situation could last.
For now, though, it obviously wasn’t an issue.
Using the address Xiao Feng had provided, Yang Yi found the place. After paying the fare, he walked into a restaurant alone and said firmly to the waiter who enthusiastically greeted him, "I’m looking for Xiao Feng."
The waiter froze for a moment, then shook his head repeatedly and replied, "I don’t know who you’re talking about, I don’t know them."
"Tell him that Little Egg is here. I’ll wait here for a moment."
The waiter gave Yang Yi a glance, then walked over to a counter and whispered a few words to someone there. Shortly thereafter, the waiter returned to Yang Yi and said, "Follow me."
Yang Yi passed through the kitchen. The clean and orderly kitchen left a deep impression on him, making him decide he might return to this restaurant for a meal in the future.
Passing through the kitchen, then through a storage room, Yang Yi pushed a shelving unit aside before opening an iron door. Inside, he saw a man hunched over and smoking heavily in the enclosed room.
The lighting was bright, but the twenty-square-meter room was filled with smoke, despite having a vent fan that was currently turned off. As the door opened, the smoke nearly overwhelmed Yang Yi.
He waved a hand in front of his face and stepped through the iron door, then said to the waiter behind him, "It’s fine now, no need to close the door. Feng, Jiang! What the hell! Jiang, you’re injured, and you’re all still smoking like this?"
It was clear this room was meant for a few people, at most four, but now it was crammed with seven. Inevitably, someone ended up sleeping on the ground.
Wang Wenjiang was lying on an iron bunk bed, his upper body exposed. Gauze was taped to his chest, and his abdomen was wrapped in a blood-spotted bandage. It was evident that he was injured.
Seeing Yang Yi, the group showed signs of excitement.
Wang Wenjiang, lying weakly on the bed, said, "I knew you’d come, kid. Shows you have loyalty. So, where’s Kate?"
"Kate’s here too, just not here directly."
Responding casually, Yang Yi waved his hand again and said, "Are you all trying to suffocate yourselves with smoke?"
Wang Wenjiang coughed twice, saying, "Suffocation isn’t what will kill us. Bleeding out might do it. Got careless this time, got done in by those Russians."
Yang Yi took a closer look at Wang Wenjiang’s wounds, frowning: "Where’s Ming? Who treated your injuries? They’re horribly done."
Dark Night Knight included someone playing the role of a doctor—Ah Ming. He had even performed surgery on Kate back when she got shot. Yang Yi was certain something had happened to Ah Ming; otherwise, Wang Wenjiang’s wounds wouldn’t have been treated so poorly.
Xiao Feng spoke in a low voice, "Ming’s in the hospital. We don’t know if he’s alive or dead. Several brothers got caught, so there’s just a few of us left hiding here. The Russian Gang teamed up with the police."
Yang Yi nodded and said, "Alright, I got it. Jiang’s condition requires a hospital visit. You can’t delay this anymore."
Xiao Feng muttered, "We’d already planned to risk it and escape. Police and Russians are both watching closely; if we step out, we’re not coming back. If the police catch us, it might be bearable, but if the Russians grab us, it’s game over. So no, no hospitals."
Yang Yi smiled and said, "Now that I’m here, you don’t need to risk anything. Trust me."
After speaking, Yang Yi checked his watch and said, "It’s still a bit early. In at most two hours, we can go to the hospital."
Xiao Feng frowned deeply, but Wang Wenjiang gave a strained smile and said, "Little Egg, heard you’ve made it big now."
Yang Yi nodded unapologetically and said, "Yup, made it big. Got money, got manpower. No need for pleasantries; since I’m here, I’ll make sure everyone’s safe."
With that, Yang Yi continued sincerely, "Jiang, Feng, Yao..."
After greeting everyone in the room, Yang Yi patted his chest and said softly, "My life was saved back then by the captain and you all. I can’t forget that. So rest assured, brothers—I’ve really made it now. The next steps are on me. I’ll get the captain out, and I’ll make sure those Russians know who’s untouchable."
Yang Yi spoke with a calm demeanor, but his words brought a wave of relief to the previously tense atmosphere in the room.
Yang Yi still looked almost the same as before, but now his aura had changed. It was soothing, giving people a sense of security.
Wang Wenjiang raised his hand slightly, saying, "Knew you’d come through loyally, kid. Alright, leaving it to you now. I’ll get some sleep first."
Wang Wenjiang was certainly straightforward. Less than twenty seconds after uttering that sentence, he was already snoring.
Xiao Feng, looking satisfied, said, "Ah Jiang finally fell asleep. Keep an eye on him. Listen to Little Egg, and take him to the hospital in two hours."
Despite his serious injuries, Wang Wenjiang hadn’t been able to fall asleep or pass out. He couldn’t let his worries rest—it had kept him awake beyond endurance.
But now, for the first time, Wang Wenjiang could get some rest.
Yang Yi inspected Wang Wenjiang’s wounds again and whispered to Xiao Feng, "Are Jiang’s injuries critical? Can he hold out for two more hours? If not, I’ll call a doctor over now, though the environment here isn’t ideal."
Xiao Feng exhaled and said, "A few more hours won’t be an issue. Let’s go to the hospital, though, if you’re sure."
Ah Yao stood up and said to Yang Yi in a deep voice, "We’re brothers, so no need for extra words. Just let us know the plan. Our injuries don’t matter!"
The Dark Night Knight members were mostly family men by now. Danny, Wang Wenjiang, and the others had families, and their kids could even run errands now.
Yang Yi asked seriously, "How’s everyone’s families? You’re here—are they safe?"
Ah Yao’s expression darkened as he replied lowly, "Should be fine. The Russians are ruthless, but they still stick to the rule of not involving families."
Yang Yi exhaled lightly, saying, "That’s good, that’s good. In that case, we’ll respect that rule too—we won’t go after the Russian Gang’s families."
Xiao Feng asked gravely, "Little Egg, what’s your plan?"
Xiao Feng’s name had ’Xiao’ (Little) in it, but referring to him as ’Little Feng’ ten years ago was barely reasonable. Now, despite his age, the group still called him by the same nickname out of habit. After Danny’s mishap, Xiao Feng had taken charge of the remaining members.
Yang Yi glanced at his watch and said, "We’re going to the police station now. By the time we arrive, the timing should be just right. First, we get the captain and everyone else out, then follow the captain’s lead for what comes next."
Xiao Feng looked at Yang Yi curiously and asked, "Get them out?"
"That’s right, get them out."
