Chapter 1048: Chapter 1053: Please Be Professional
Watching the bug on Bonnie’s head, Yang Yi pondered a question: should he discover it, or should he not discover it?
Bonnie should not have been able to find the bug on herself. Therefore, although she discovered it, she had to pretend she didn’t and carry on with what she needed to do with the bug still on her.
However, as a spy, if Yang Yi couldn’t discover the bug, it would mean there was a problem with his capabilities.
But should the bug be discovered?
If it was Aaron sending someone to monitor Bonnie, Yang Yi could just find the bug and casually throw it away, but if it was Aaron who arranged this, then the job was done rather sloppily.
If it wasn’t Aaron who sent someone, then who could be monitoring Bonnie?
To discover or not to discover, that really was a question.
Yang Yi pondered for a moment and then he decided not to discover it; therefore, some logical events had to unfold between him and Bonnie.
Bathing together, this was a completely new experience for Yang Yi, thrilling yet untimely.
Both appeared somewhat unnatural, their bodies stiff.
Finally, Yang Yi made a decision, so he lightly tapped his ear a few times.
Yang Yi was not alone.
"Find, kill."
After receiving Yang Yi’s signal, Anton put down his headset, picked up a mobile phone, and got up to leave his room.
The two hotels were adjacent, Anton didn’t need to hurry, he entered an elevator, took out a pair of headphones, plugged them into the phone, and put them into his ears.
Although Anton was middle-aged and didn’t look like someone who would need to wear headphones to listen to music, Anton didn’t care much about these appearances.
Anton left the hotel he was staying at and began to close in on Yang Yi.
Whether it’s a miniature camera or a bug, due to the distance limitations of signal transmission, the person monitoring cannot be too far from the target, meaning, whoever was monitoring Bonnie, had to be nearby.
Anton stood at the hotel entrance, he picked up the phone and began to watch.
The phone didn’t display the usual screensaver but only showed a virtual circular indicator.
Finding the monitor on his own was not possible for Anton; he needed Yang Yi’s cooperation.
Radio waves inevitably emit signals, and the frequency of the signals would be the guidemarks to trace back to the monitor.
Yang Yi brought a phone, same model as Anton’s, close to Bonnie’s head and then pressed the power button, which caused the digits on Anton’s phone to start changing, but soon, the digits stabilized.
Now that the frequency was confirmed, the next step was to track down the person listening.
"Do something, you’ve been silent for too long."
After softly reminding Yang Yi, Anton began to move around.
The phone was actually a radio detector; the pointer on the screen showed almost no change, indicating Anton hadn’t found the radio transmission or reception source yet.
Machines are not omnipotent; if the listening device used is a passive device—meaning it only receives but does not transmit signals—Anton could only use the detector to locate Yang Yi, but if the listener’s device could receive and also transmit a signal at the same frequency, then Anton could find it.
Casually walking forward a bit, seeing no change in the pointer, Anton began to turn back and retraced his steps, moved forward a little distance again, and finally, the pointer started showing faint changes.
Anton put the phone in his pocket, judging whether he was getting closer or farther from the signal source by the sounds through his earphones.
Yang Yi still hadn’t made any sound, which somewhat displeased Anton.
Covering his mouth with his hand to mask what he was saying, Anton whispered, "Say something! Do something! Act like a normal man! If you act abnormally, the other side isn’t a fool and will notice your peculiarity!"
After finishing, Anton continued in a low voice, "Please be professional."
Please be professional; to Yang Yi, this was a very severe criticism.
Not to mention being monitored, even if countless people were watching and he needed to pretend not to know, he couldn’t show any anomalies.
Yang Yi was desperate, yet he still made a gesture to Bonnie.
Curving his index finger and extending the other four fingers, then placing the curled index finger in front of his mouth, Yang Yi lazily said, "Come."
Bonnie seemed a bit rigid, but she must have been mentally prepared long before being sent to stay close to Yang Yi, knowing something like this could happen.
The life of a spy is not always wonderful; enduring the discomfort of being bugged, Yang Yi lay on the bed.
Just how many people were listening? That was Yang Yi’s only question.
Finally, a voice came through, and Anton smiled faintly—he had wanted to mention that Yang Yi’s skills were lacking, but thinking it over, to avoid retaliation later, he decided to say nothing.
The sound in the headset got louder, Anton glanced at it, and he found that a café by the roadside was the most likely place, so he pushed open the door of the café.
The café was very quiet, but as Anton entered, the beep in his headsets indeed got louder.
Yes, it was here.
But the detector didn’t indicate a specific range, only the distance from the signal source, however, Anton didn’t rush to find out where the signal source was, he scanned the café briefly and then took a seat.
Anton took off his earphones and said to the waiter, "A latte."
There was someone in the café using a laptop, which was a common sight and not surprising, but the fact that this person was using headphones while on the laptop almost convinced Anton that he had found his target.
However, Anton didn’t rush to act or verify if the person he was observing was the one to be found; first, he had to confirm how many people there were.
Everything in the café seemed normal, Anton slowly drank his coffee, then while once again lifting the cup to his lips, he whispered so softly it was almost imperceptible, "Detect the bug."
An out of breath Yang Yi suddenly shouted out. He said in a deep voice, "What is this? Fuck! Are you bugging me?"
Yang Yi’s sudden discovery caused the person with the headphones and the laptop to slightly shake, this time, Anton could confirm that he had found his target.
Bonnie was extremely surprised, "What is this? No! This isn’t mine."
The person with the laptop began typing quickly, Anton chuckled, then stayed put, observing the people in the café again before standing up, leaving a bill on the table, and slowly walked out of the café.
The scolding from Yang Yi to Bonnie lasted only a short while, as Yang Yi naturally had to quickly destroy the bug and then look for another, so, this act was over.
