Chapter 1049: Chapter 1054: Gone Forever

Stepping out of the café, Anton took out a cigarette and lit it for himself, then he softly spoke, "Café, two, you carry on, I’ll handle the rest."

Should I continue?

Yang Yi glanced at Bonnie.

Bonnie looked agonized, quite different from her professional-sounding voice. Tears welled in her eyes, yet she sounded so professional.

Losing it for the first time under these circumstances, just thinking about it, one can tell it wouldn’t be pleasant.

Yang Yi dug out the earpiece from his ears, ending the miserable experience of being eavesdropped upon after switching it off.

"I’m sorry."

After whispering those words, Yang Yi spread his hands and then told Bonnie, "I’m really sorry, now... we can, um, put our clothes back on."

Bonnie sat up, gazing quietly at Yang Yi, then suddenly said, "Let’s continue."

"Huh?"

"This is my first time, and since it’s already happened under such awful circumstances, should it really end halfway? Or do you plan to send me back and have them replace me with someone else?"

With Bonnie having said that, what was Yang Yi waiting for? Continue on, though he indeed felt a bit weak, he was still young.

When he hugged Bonnie again, Bonnie actively tightened her arms around Yang Yi, then in a low voice, she said, "Leave me with a beautiful memory, so could you please take it seriously and start over?"

Yang Yi felt he was becoming more and more of a scumbag.

"Alright, let’s start over, but how about I treat you to a candlelight dinner first, and we enjoy a romantic night before we come back to continue what we didn’t finish, how about that?"

Bonnie smiled somewhat desolately, she whispered, "But isn’t my role that of a call girl? Who would date a call girl?"

Yang Yi shrugged and said, "Me, I would. If worse comes to worst, I’ll just change my image from a major asshole to a sentimental one. I’ll do as I please."

Bonnie was silent for a moment, then she released Yang Yi and whispered, "No, let’s not, I’ve long passed the age of deceiving myself."

Does Yang Yi love Bonnie? No, not at all, but he is willing to treat this girl well. Their world is already so helpless, even if it’s fake, even if it’s pretend, it still might feel a bit better, right?

Yang Yi held Bonnie’s hand, his face tenderly saying, "We all have to live with masks, but that doesn’t stop us from occasionally putting down our pretense, just for a little while, just for a moment. Everything is fine now, my people will handle the situation, so we don’t have much time to relax, let’s not waste it, come on."

Tonight was probably quite moving for Bonnie; when the moment she had imagined actually arrived and became reality, she indeed felt momentarily weak.

Yang Yi awkwardly helped Bonnie, while she suddenly stopped and then whispered, "I might have to follow you from now on."

Yang Yi paused, then smiled and said, "Alright."

Bonnie whispered softly, "I’ll try not to annoy you, but if you dislike something about me, please tell me, I must change."

"No need, you are fine, and being a bit real is better, being too perfect can seem very fake, doesn’t it?"

"Do you... have friends?"

Yang Yi smiled and said, "Yes, I have many friends."

"I mean true friends, no, what I mean is, not those colleagues, just ordinary friends, real friends, without work relations, without conflicts of interest, do you have any?"

Yang Yi was stunned. He thought for a long time and finally murmured softly, "I guess... I do."

Is Danny a pure friend? He seems to be, but he also seems not to be Yang Yi’s friend, at least not a friend outside his circle, with no interest involvements, no experiences of shared life and death.

How about Alexander? How about Justin?

They don’t seem to be purely friends either.

As for Li Fan, he’s more like a father figure to Yang Yi.

Besides people from the Organization of Water, there isn’t anyone Yang Yi knows who is his friend.

"I have relatives, I have brothers, but it seems I don’t have the kind of friend you’re talking about."

Bonnie smiled somewhat desolately and said softly, "Just as I thought, we are all the same, we are tools, I’m sorry, I’m a bit too sensitive today, it’s always a bit sensitive for a woman the first time..."

Yang Yi was at a loss for words.

Bonnie stood up, turned to face Yang Yi, and spread her arms, saying, "Thank you for being patient and comforting me, I won’t do it again, I won’t show my vulnerable side. Now, let’s face life with the right attitude."

Bonnie gently hugged Yang Yi.

Yang Yi was bewildered; he hadn’t done anything, why was Bonnie thanking him?

Women’s thoughts are indeed hard to understand, what is all this even about?

"You said you’d take me to a candlelight dinner, so shall we go? Can I choose the place?"

"Sure, please."

Bonnie linked her arm through Yang Yi’s as they walked downstairs.

To be honest, if Yang Yi hadn’t been emotionally drained by Petra, how could he have given Bonnie a chance to leave? But since he indeed feels somewhat empty now, he really doesn’t mind going through the expected motions.

After all, Bonnie truly is a charming woman, very attractive.

Candlelight dinner, music, flowers, expensive red wine, perfect service, Yang Yi behaved extremely gentlemanly in the restaurant because he was making up for things.

Some people buy tickets to board the train, some board first then buy the tickets, and what Yang Yi was doing now was buying the tickets, although insignificant, but leaving a beautiful memory with Bonnie wouldn’t be bad.

After all, Yang Yi has plenty of money and time, most importantly, Bonnie will be the link between him and the janitors, no matter what, it would be better if Bonnie really had feelings for him.

Just unsure if it’s possible, Yang Yi does not hope to pull Bonnie over from the janitors, because if the janitors send Bonnie to such an important partner like him, they must be full of confidence in Bonnie’s loyalty.

The dinner went very pleasantly, Bonnie’s mood gradually improved. Although she believed that Yang Yi was just play-acting with her, the fact that he was willing to play-act was already precious, Bonnie understood this.

As the candlelight dinner was drawing to a close, Yang Yi’s phone rang, he thought it was a call from Anton, but when he picked it up, it turned out to be from Petra.

Petra called again?

Yang Yi’s mind went blank for a moment, then he answered the call, and immediately he heard Petra saying softly, "I’m in a very bad mood, can you come to my place? If you don’t want to, can I come to your hotel? Or you can suggest any place, can you meet me?"
