Chapter 66 I thought you were quite comfortable
Chapter 66: Chapter 66 I thought you were quite comfortable
As the voice fell, Fu Shiyan walked in with Han Yang.
"Shiyan is here," Old Master Bai said with a smile.
Fu Shiyan’s lips curved slightly, "The Service Department sent over some Xinyang Tea this morning, I brought some for you to taste." He then greeted Tang Wanqiu.
Old Master Bai liked drinking tea, and Fu Shiyan would send him some tea leaves every year.
Xinyang Tea might not be the best, but a pound was still 750,000 yuan.
Han Yang handed the tea box to the servant.
Fu Shiyan looked at An Yan, and she immediately called out "Younger Uncle."
The man’s eyes seemed to flicker with sparkling stars, but they vanished in an instant. He hummed lightly, as if surprised, "How come you’re here?"
An Yan thought to herself that this old man was just pretending and asking knowingly; he obviously came to catch her.
She still played along, explaining, "Auntie took a liking to me at first sight, and we met at the café today. She mentioned that Grandpa Bai had a painting he wanted to authenticate, so here I am."
She explained the cause and effect clearly, and Fu Shiyan nodded his approval.
Bai Qinghan was on pins and needles. With Fu Shiyan’s arrival, the plan to send An Yan off might fall through.
Knowing her child best, Tang Wanqiu said with a smile, "Since it’s time for lunch, An Yan, Shiyan, why don’t you two stay and eat here."
Old Master Bai also said, "Yes, An Yan promised to help me restore a painting, so you must have this meal here!"
Fu Shiyan readily agreed, saying to An Yan, "If you don’t have anything else, I’ll take you back after lunch."
Bai Qinghan: "..." This guy is definitely betraying his brother, stealing my lines!
Worried that Tang Wanqiu would say to let Bai Qinghan take her, An Yan said with a smile, "Thank you, Younger Uncle."
The group sat on the sofa and chatted for a while before being invited to dine in the dining room.
Fu Shiyan took his seat beside An Yan with ease, directly squeezing out Bai Qinghan who originally wanted to sit there.
Bai Qinghan, seeing this, prepared to sit on the other side of An Yan.
Unexpectedly, the unobservant Han Yang took the seat.
Bai Qinghan turned emo in an instant.
He took a few deep breaths and could only sit next to Tang Wanqiu, but being able to face An Yan directly was also quite good.
Although Fu Shiyan appeared unfazed, he was extremely annoyed inside; Bai Qinghan’s thoughts were all over his face.
Old Master Bai asked, "An Yan, what do you think of our Qinghan?"
An Yan thought for a moment and was just about to reply when her hand holding the chopsticks tightened.
The man’s large hand was trailing up along her thigh, and its owner still looked at her earnestly, with an unchanged expression, waiting for her answer.
An Yan cleared her throat, "Young Master Bai is very nice; he has helped me many times, and I am very grateful to him."
Tang Wanqiu sighed, "Our Qinghan is not lacking in acts of kindness, what he is missing is a daughter-in-law. It’s a pity that you and Qinghan don’t have the sparks of love, but being friends is still very good."
Bai Qinghan looked bewildered at his mother. If this conversation continued, how would he have a chance to be her boyfriend? He might as well be her male best friend.
Tang Wanqiu changed the topic, "What kind of boy does An Yan like? If there’s someone suitable, I could introduce you."
An Yan felt that the restless hand had reached an area that made her whole body tense; she pressed her legs together.
She wanted to answer, but she was afraid that her voice would change once she started speaking.
She kicked the man’s leg under the table with her foot, signaling him to restrain himself.
Fu Shiyan suddenly let out a low laugh, and everyone’s attention shifted to him.
While he continued to casually carry on with his mischief, he looked at the girl whose face was flushed red, "I’m also quite curious about my niece’s preferences."
My niece?
The nerve he had to say that!
An Yan pressed her lips together, "Someone who’s compatible, I suppose, but definitely not the scholarly scum, the type who gets jealous over nothing."
Fu Shiyan’s fingertips grated slightly, and An Yan sharply inhaled a breath of cold air.
Bai Qinghan, on the other hand, let out a long sigh of relief. Although his girlfriends had been the kind you could see through in a month, he was never called trash due to his generosity, and none of his exes had ever given him less than a five-star rating. He wasn’t a loser, and he didn’t get jealous at the drop of a hat.
Fu Shiyan looked at An Yan, whose eyes were slightly red at the corners, and slowly withdrew his hand. He took out a handkerchief to wipe his hands and asked her quietly, "Have you eaten your fill?"
An Yan shot him a glare, "I’ve eaten enough."
Fu Shiyan stood up, "I have a meeting this afternoon, so I will take my leave first."
An Yan also stood up and nodded slightly towards Old Master Bai and Tang Wanqiu, "Thank you, Grandpa Bai and Auntie, for your hospitality. I’ll be leaving too." Having said that, she walked out of the dining room, grabbed her bag and the painting case from the couch, and stepped out the door ahead of Fu Shiyan.
Han Yang quickly followed suit, opened the car door, and An Yan swiftly got in the car.
The corners of Fu Shiyan’s lips lifted in pleasure as he followed and bent to get into the car.
Han Yang dared not breathe too loudly, got into the car after, quickly drove off, and raised the partition.
Fu Shiyan, looking at An Yan who was leaning against the door, stretched out his hand to pull her into his embrace, "Feeling uncomfortable?"
An Yan gave him a sidelong glance.
Fu Shiyan brought her onto his lap, his peach-blossom eyes carrying a seductive smile, "I thought you were quite comfortable."
An Yan lightly punched his solid chest, "With so many people present, do you have no shame?"
"You ungrateful little wretch, I make you comfortable, and yet you insult me?"
"You nearly scared me to death."
"So that’s why you called me scholarly scum who gets jealous without cause? Is that how you see me?"
"Aren’t you?"
Fu Shiyan looked into the girl’s eyes, which were angrily flushed, and pressed her close to his chest, "I only want to be a scoundrel for you, and I only get jealous over you. Next time, don’t meet with any of the Bai family, alright?"
"But I’ve already promised Grandpa Bai to accompany him to the auction."
Fu Shiyan pondered for a moment, "Okay, but tell me in advance."
Without much thought, An Yan merely uttered an okay.
He glanced at the painting case, "You should take on fewer of those painting restoration jobs in the future, they’re too exhausting."
"I owe Bai Qinghan a favor, that’s all."
"I’ll repay the favor you owe, from now on you don’t owe anyone anything," Fu Shiyan played with her slender fingers, "I have a meeting this afternoon. Wait for me to finish work, and we’ll go to the supermarket together, okay?"
An Yan nodded, snuggling into his embrace.
Meanwhile, Tang Wanqiu cast a glance at the despondent Bai Qinghan, "I like that girl, and no matter what, you have to win her over."
Bai Qinghan sighed, "She won’t let me pursue her."
"Idiot, how did you chase other girls before?"
"Before, a beckon would have them coming over," Bai Qinghan was a bit gloomy, "Brother Yan is really a stumbling block on my road to romance. He completely ruined my chance to take An Yan home."
Tang Wanqiu furrowed her brows, "He wouldn’t like An Yan, would he?"
"Of course not, it’s just that he can’t stand Fu Chenyu’s behavior, so he took extra care of An Yan."
"That’s good, otherwise, you’d have no chance at all."
Bai Qinghan: "..."
Tang Wanqiu took several amusement park tickets out of her bag, "Invite Jinqiao over for some fun, and have her bring An Yan along. That’s the advantage of starting off as friends."
Bai Qinghan raised an eyebrow, "Tsk, my queen mother, you always have a trick up your sleeve! I’ll call her right now!"
