Chapter 137: Chapter 137 Baby Yan Just Likes Dogs
An Yan looked at the results and slowly lowered her hand.
That’s it, no relation.
She lifted her gaze, her lips curving into a bitter smile, "Ayan, it turns out I’m an orphan."
Fu Shiyan embraced her, "Yanyan, you still have me. I’ll always be with you. An Zaili must know what’s going on. I’ll take you home first, then head to the detention center."
An Yan nestled in his arms and softly hummed in agreement.
Worried she would get lost in her thoughts, Fu Shiyan had Su Yue come to keep her company while he went to the detention center.
It had been several days since he’d seen An Zaili, who seemed to have lost even more weight.
Fu Shiyan sat on the chair, legs crossed, a cigarette emitting a haze of smoke between his index and middle finger.
He lifted his gaze slightly, a cold light suddenly flashing in his eyes.
An Zaili sat opposite him, dark circles under his eyes revealing that his recent nights were anything but peaceful.
Fu Shiyan spoke indifferently, "An Jincheng is dead."
An Zaili’s eyes darted around, "Is that so?"
"A truck driver drunk driving hit him from behind, flattening An Jincheng on the spot, beyond recognition." Fu Shiyan took a drag from his cigarette, "Do you know why I am here?"
An Zaili laughed dryly, "You suspect that I did it?"
"I suspect someone helped you do it."
Hearing this, An Zaili’s pupils shrank slightly, "I have no contact with the outside world, and why would I want to kill An Jincheng?"
"Because An Jincheng said An Yan wasn’t your and Xu Zhen’s daughter, and he also mentioned the old lady’s situation in the asylum." Fu Shiyan fixed his gaze on the man’s eyes, "DNA tests have proved that An Yan is not your daughter, nor is she related to the old lady. So, what are you hiding?"
An Zaili was silent for a moment, then looked at Fu Shiyan, "An Jincheng’s death has nothing to do with me, but it’s true that An Yan is not my and Xu Zhen’s daughter. At the time, my daughter with Xu Zhen was born with hypoxic asphyxiation and died. I was worried that Xu Zhen would be heartbroken, so I brought another baby girl home."
"Her parents?"
"Her father was a rapist, and her mother was a streetwalker. The couple died in a car accident, seventeen years ago."
Fu Shiyan naturally didn’t believe it, "What about their relatives?"
An Zaili said, "Both were orphans, without a father or mother."
Fu Shiyan chuckled, "So this is a case with no evidence left behind?"
An Zaili insisted, "I am not lying. The reason I didn’t tell An Yan about her background is because I was afraid she’d be sad knowing that her biological parents were people like that, and now she has become an orphan."
Fu Shiyan’s gaze was sharp as he probed for the other’s meticulously crafted deception, "Didn’t you think she would be sad when you abandoned her in the countryside at five years old?"
An Zaili sighed, "It’s my fault. An Yan’s biological parents died when she was three years old. A fortune-teller said she would bring misfortune to her parents, and that she had to be sent away to ensure my family’s safety. I had no choice!"
Fu Shiyan snuffed out the cigarette butt and pressed down on the table, "What were the two people’s names?"
"The man was called Dong Yuwei, and the woman was Li Miao. You can check for yourself, I’m not lying."
Fu Shiyan stood up and walked to the door, pausing his steps, he turned and said coldly, "An Zaili, if even one word of yours is a lie, I will make your life a living hell."
An Zaili watched the man leave, his sweat-soaked back suddenly wilted as he gasped for breath.
All because of that damn An Jincheng’s loose lips; otherwise, this would never have come to light. He truly deserved to die.
However, An Jincheng’s death was no accident. He had a vague suspicion, and all he hoped for was for the other party to be safe.
He wondered how Yirou was doing and why she hadn’t come to see them after so long.
An Zaili felt discomfort in his heart and got up, dragging his heavy footsteps back to the cell under the escort of the prison guards.
Bishui Bay.
An Yan nestled on the sofa, hugging a cushion, her gaze unfocused as she stared at the screen ahead.
Su Yue was quite worried as she held a bowl of porridge, "You should at least eat a little bit."
"Yueyue, I really have no appetite, not even a bit. Can you understand how I feel?"
Su Yue put the bowl on the coffee table, "Baby Yan, An Zaili isn’t your father, and you should feel relieved. What kind of biological father would be so cruel to his own daughter?"
An Yan smiled, "These past few days I’ve been thinking that even if An Zaili wasn’t good to me, if he were my father, at the very least I would still have family. But now, I don’t even know who my biological parents are. Was I abandoned by them? I accepted An Zaili abandoning me in the countryside before, but I don’t want to accept the fact that I was deserted by my biological parents once again."
Su Yue held her shoulders, "Baby Yan, I know it’s hard for you to accept, and I can feel your emotions. The severe blow An Zaili dealt you is like a knife stuck in your heart. It may not have killed you, but it severely hurt you, and now your origins are like another knife slashing at your flesh. It may not be as hurtful as before, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t pain you."
An Yan hugged Su Yue, "Yueyue, you really do understand me. Thank you."
"Silly girl, what are you thanking me for?" Su Yue gently patted her back, "You’ve got me, and Old Dog Fu..."
The door opened, and Fu Shiyan entered just in time to witness the scene and hear the last three words Su Yue said.
Tsk!
A massive social death scene!
Su Yue let her go, and cleared her throat, "Baby Yan, there are some things I need to take care of back at the design studio, so I’m going to head off now!"
An Yan tried not to laugh as she got up to see her off, "Alright, I’m fine, don’t worry about me. Drive safely."
Su Yue smiled a little, looking at Fu Shiyan, "Baby Yan is much better now. I cooked porridge, you feed it to her."
Fu Shiyan chuckled twice, "Being such a dog, aren’t you worried I won’t take good care of your best friend?"
Su Yue blurted out with a laugh, "Baby Yan likes dogs."
Alright then, the more one speaks, the more mistakes one makes.
She really should hurry up and leave.
Slipping on her shoes, Su Yue dashed out the door.
Fu Shiyan changed his shoes and stepped forward to wrap his arms around An Yan’s slender waist, "So this is how you refer to me behind my back, huh?"
An Yan raised her eyebrows, "Actually, it’s not meant as an insult."
"It’s not?"
The man clearly didn’t believe her; hmm, probably no one would believe it upon hearing it.
An Yan’s fingertips twirled on his chest, "We call you this because your waist is incredible."
"Incredible?"
"Like... you know, a male dog’s waist."
Fu Shiyan gave a meaningful ’oh’, "I see, that’s what it means. It seems you really like my waist." Saying this, he lowered his head and buried it in her snow-white neck, delicately and shallowly nibbling.
An Yan felt ticklish and squirmed slightly, "Did he say anything?"
Fu Shiyan stopped and looked at her slightly pale face, "An Zaili’s tight-lipped, he didn’t say anything."
An Yan cast her eyes down, pursing her lips, "Ayan, did he say something bad that you don’t want me to know?"
Fu Shiyan lifted her face, "Yanyan, remember, it doesn’t matter who your biological parents are, you’ll always be my girl."
