Chapter 97: Mysterious meeting

Mo Chou looked at the figure sneaking outside. Last time she saw this person was at Lu Jinhai’s house.

Out of sheer curiosity, Mo Chou decided to go and confront them.

Looking at the person sneakily glancing around, Mo Chou was pretty sure that they were up to no good.

It didn’t look like Mo Li was going to be done anytime soon anyways, so Mo Chou just sent her a quick text saying that she was getting bored and wanted to go look around some other shops.

After she was done sending the text, Mo Chou immediately exited the store and followed the figure.

She had wanted to buy the perfumes first but the person had already reached quite a distance, and was walking with a rather fast pace.

Mo Chou followed from a little further behind. The person seemed to be heading towards the staircase towards the back of the mall which was labelled as ’employees only’.

She wondered if the person was a staff but dismissed it as they would not be sneaking around if they were staff.

Mo Chou followed behind discreetly and to her surprise, they ended up in the kitchen area of the mall.

Now she was really sure that the person was up to no good.

There seemed to be no one in the kitchen , so the person entered easily and started fiddling with the boxes there.

Mo Chou decided that it was now the perfect time for the confrontation.

"What have you got there"?

"Ahh" the girl screamed and dropped the things she was holding. Mo Chou quickly noticed that there was a bottle that seemed out of place among the things she had dropped.

The girl hurriedly tried to retrieve it but Mo Chou was quicker.

"Give it back," the girl demanded and stepped forward to grab it but once she took a closer look at Mo Chou, she gasped and said, " It’s you!"

The girl was none other than the maid that Lu Jinhai had fired for being rude to Mo Chou.

"You b***h, you were the one who made me lose my job. I’m gonna kill you today".

The girl lunged forward and was aiming to scratch Mo Chou’s face.

But of course she was no match for Mo Chou who dodged quickly and took a hold of her hands, twisting them behind her back.

There were some cleaning rags right beside them which she used to tie her hands.

The maid was kicking and flailing around trying to free herself with no avail.

Mo Chou gave her a tight slap which stunned her and which quickly made her stop.

Twisting the cap of the bottle that she had found with her, Mo Chou took a sniff.

In her previous life, Mo Chou had dabbled in a bit of everything. She had once gotten training with a poison expert and had quite a vast knowledge about poisons.

Upon smelling it, Mo Chou could quickly identify that the bottle contained a fast acting and invisible poison.

Mo Chou let out a laugh and turned towards the maid.

The maid or ’the former maid’ was still glaring at Mo Chou as if she wanted to murder her. It didn’t seem like Mo Chou was gonna get the answers that she wanted easily so she decided to threaten her instead.

She held the poison bottle in front of her and said, " I want you to answer my questions one by one or I will empty the contents of this bottle in your mouth".

Just as she had expected, the girl seemed really scared upon hearing her words and nodded frantically.

"Who were you trying to kill with this?" Mo Chou first asked to fulfill her curiosity.

The girl seemed hesitant to answer but started talking once Mo Chou shook the bottle, " the owner of Phoenix".

Her words really surprised Mo Chou. It was such a coincidence that her mother was currently talking to the manager of Phoenix.

Mo Chou wanted to know more about the poison because it was a rather rare one.

It only had a faint smell and didn’t have any taste. It could only have been made by a poison expert in order for it to be almost perfect.

"Where did you get this poison"?

The girl seemed really scared when she heard the question. Mo Chou could see sweat beads running down her face.

She shook her head indicating that she wouldn’t answer the question but Mo Chou took the cap off the bottle and tilted it towards her mouth.

Having no other option, the girl opened her mouth to answer but before she could say anything, she started convulsing and bleeding from her orifices and died on the spot leaving Mo Chou stupefied.

Mo Chou watched the girl slump over the chair and checked her pulse to confirm if she was really dead.

She cursed when she found that the girl was actually dead.

Mo Chou couldn’t afford to be discovered with a dead body.

Fortunately she had acquired a special powder which assassins used to dispose of dead bodies through Reaper and had it in her purse. The powder would turn the dead body into ashes and it was a rare item that was only known to top assassins.

Although Mo Chou wanted to find the girl’s cause of death, she didn’t have much time as anyone could walk in the kitchen at any moment.

So she hurriedly looked through the girl’s clothes to see if she had anything on her. She found her cellphone in her pocket but nothing else. Mo Chou was pleased as she could use the phone for investigation.

After she was done searching, she quickly sprinkled the powder on the dead body.

Once it had been disposed of, Mo Chou walked out of the staff area making sure that she went unnoticed.

Mo Li had texted her that it would take some more time for her to wrap up so Mo Chou just stood in a corner which was a blind spot from the CCTV cameras.

In order to not leave any evidence behind, Mo Chou hacked the mall’s security system through her phone and erased the footage of her following the girl. She replaced it with another one and made sure that no one would be able to find the difference.

She had already checked the kitchen area and knew that there were no cameras there.

After she was done with everything, Mo Chou headed towards the store. She was planning to buy the perfumes that she had selected and just wait for Mo Li inside.

The maid had wanted to kill the owner of Phoenix. She hadn’t found the reason why but she wanted to stay close to Mo Li while they were there in case there was danger lurking around.

Mo Chou was about to open the door to the store when she suddenly felt eyes on her. She paused and started scanning the area.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw a shadow of a person.

She was about to take a better look when the door opened from the inside and Mo Li came running out.
