Mo Chou’s attention immediately shifted onto Mo Li.

It didn’t matter to Mo Chou that she couldn’t catch whoever the suspicious figure was, as long as Mo Li was safe. She turned towards Mo Li and immediately started scanning her for injuries.

She let out a sigh of relief when she saw that Mo Li was completely fine. Not only that, she was absolutely beaming with happiness. Mo Li hurriedly grabbed ahold of Mo Chou’s hands and started whispering excitedly, "I just talked to the assistant manager. Guess what, it wasn’t a mistake after all. They really do want to collaborate with me".

Mo Chou also found herself smiling after being infected by her mother’s happiness. "They asked me to come after a week with a lawyer to sign the contract". Mo Li continued, almost jumping with joy.

"Let’s go celebrate. Mommy will give you a treat today", Mo Li declared. Mo Chou first finished purchasing the perfumes that she had selected and then started following Mo Li to various stores in the mall.

Although Mo Chou was happy for her mother, she was also concerned for her safety. The recent events had made Mo Chou question the identity of the owner of ’Phoenix’.

When she had looked up the store online, she had found that the identity of the store owner was hidden. No one had any idea who the owner was and though there were quite a few rumors and speculations, none of them seemed reliable.

What if the owner was involved in some dirty deals and her mother also got caught in the crossfire and got harmed during the collaboration? There was also the question of Lu Jinhai’s involvement in all of this.

It was quite suspicious that she had encountered a maid who used to work for him and not only that, the maid had also been trying to kill the owner of phoenix. Mo Chou didn’t really believe that it was all just a coincidence.

For Mo Chou though, this just helped fuel the fire. She was going to find Lu Jinhai no matter what. Mo Chou was absolutely itching to go back home. She wanted to hack into the cellphone first and then do some research about this illusive owner of Phoenix on the dark web.

Since the contract was going to be signed next week, she was hoping that she would be able to find some useful information by then.

Since she had already promised Mo Li to spend the full day with her, Mo Chou decided to throw all the matters to the back of her mind for the time being and just enjoy the moment with Mo Li. Her trip here had been unexpectedly fruitful after all.

Inside Phoenix manager’s office

Assistant manager Zhang was wiping his sweat off of his brows in a nervous gesture.

He had been called to the manager’s office as soon as he had sent Mo Li off.

He had thought that he had been called so that he could update the manager but when he entered the office, he saw an unfamiliar lady sitting on the manager’s chair instead and the actual manager was standing on the side.

Upon seeing his confused look, the manager hurriedly said, "Assistant Zhang, come greet the madam".

Although Assistant Zhang did not know who this lady was and what position she held, upon seeing the manager’s respectful and slightly flattering expression towards the other party, he figured that she held a high position and hurriedly did as he was told.

The madam simply nodded her head and didn’t bother introducing herself. Seeing that she had nothing more to say, Assistant Zhang turned towards the manager again. The manager told him to take a seat first and recount his interaction with Mo Li.

Assistant Zhang did as he was told.

After he was done, the madam finally spoke up and said, "What kind of person do you think Mo Li is"?

The question took both the manager and Assistant Zhang by surprise but he managed to answer it. "According to what I saw today, she seemed quite passionate about her work. Her personality seemed enthusiastic but polite". After he was done answering, Assistant Zhang took a glance at the madam and saw that rather than being happy with the answer, she seemed to be frowning.

He didn’t know why but the madam really made him feel nervous. She was undeniably beautiful, but her aura was so cold. "You will take over the collaboration with Mo Li and report directly to me. I want to know every single detail regarding the collaboration and regarding Mo Li herself" said Lu Wei addressing Assistant manager Zhang.

He was soon dismissed. After returning to his office, Assistant manager was still reeling from the interaction and most importantly, he was itching to know the identity of this madam.

He wanted to find the manager later and ask him but to his surprise, the manager himself sought him out. He started giving him some instructions regarding the collaboration.

Assistant Zhang couldn’t take it anymore and blurted out ,"Just who is that lady"? The manager hurriedly hushed him and after looking left and right and making sure that no one was listening, he said with a hushed voice, "that madam is none other than Madam Lu. The owner of ’Phoenix’ ".

Assistant Zhang : "...."

"I’m getting tired mom, let’s go have dinner now", Mo Chou lamented. They had been trying this and buying that the whole day now and although she wasn’t really tired, she was getting bored. So Mo Chou decided to tell a little white lie. Mo Li also realised that it was already dinner time. She had been running around in heels, so her feet were starting to hurt as well.

"I’m getting hungry too. There’s a nice rooftop restaurant here. Shall we dine here"?

Mo Chou agreed immediately and they headed up together.

Once they were seated, Mo Li started ordering food for the both of them. The food arrived surprisingly fast and was to both their liking. After having a hearty dinner Mo Chou felt glad that she had agreed on this outing.

They were now just waiting for the bill to arrive. Mo Chou excused herself to go use the washroom. When she exited the washroom and was about to return to her table, Mo Chou felt as if she was being watched again.

The first time might have been a coincidence but the second time was definitely not. Although Mo Chou really wanted to find the person who was watching her, she really could not leave Mo Li alone.

They had brought bodyguards along but they were waiting at the mall entrance right now.

Mo Chou didn’t want to leave her mother alone in the face of possible danger so she could only hurriedly go back to her table.

Although the chances of being attacked in a public space was less, she couldn’t risk it.

When she reached the table, Mo Chou saw that Mo Li was staring in a certain direction in a daze and had gone really pale.

She immediately got concerned and questioned, "What happened mom? Are you alright"?

Mo Li snapped out of the daze and turned to Mo Chou. With a shaky voice, she whispered, "I_i think I just saw your father".
