Chapter 70: Sweet gift

"It’s so good ,wow".

"I think we should give our chef a raise, all the food today was really good, especially this cake" Liu Dai said while chewing on the cake. Mo Chou was very happy with the feedback.

Mo Li was also eating the cake with a good expression. Mo Chou didn’t really know if Mo Li’s taste buds functioned properly anyway, otherwise how would she not know how her own cooking tasted like.

Liu Qiang was also quite a foodie like Mo Chou and even Liu Dai complimented the cake, one had to know that Liu Dai rarely praised anything.

Mo Chou finally couldn’t hold it anymore and took a spoonful, it really did taste pretty good. It was sweet but not overwhelmingly so. The chocolate was rich and even the frosting that she had made from scratch was not bad.

Mo Chou gave a fake cough to gather everyone’s attention and said, "actually the chocolate cake was made by me".

She smiled when she saw everyone’s shocked expressions, especially her father’s and brother’s.

"You really made this? By yourself? Did the chef help you?" questioned Liu Qiang.

Mo Chou knew that he was in disbelief as he had probably expected something like Mo Li’s cooking. She gave a smug smile and said, "nope, I made everything from scratch with zero help from anyone".

"What do you want?" Liu Dai spoke up all of a sudden. Mo Chou was confused due to his words and said, "huh, I don’t understand".

"I want to reward you for letting us taste this delicious cake," said Liu Dai looking at Liu Qiang with an expression of triumph.

’Hmph, this kid beat me to it’ thought Liu Qiang with a sour expression.

"Ohh, I don’t need anything" Mo Chou could really not think of anything at the moment.

"Just ask for anything dear, your brother just wants to spoil his sister" Mo Li said with a smile. She had seen the whole interaction between Liu Dai and Liu Qiang and decided to be mischievous.

Liu Qiang turned to his wife with an aggrieved expression which made Mo Li’s smile even bigger.

"Maybe a camera" Mo Chou answered Liu Dai thinking that she wouldn’t have to use her laptop to stream if she had a camera.

Liu Dai didn’t ask anything and just nodded his head.

Liu Qiang finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and asked, "what about me? What do you want from me dear?"

"I really don’t need anything else" Mo Chou said helplessly but Liu Qiang seemed so sad after hearing her words that she added, "maybe some pocket money".

Liu Qiang had been trying to give her pocket money for a long time, so Mo Chou just mentioned it without thinking much.

"I’ll get it ready by tomorrow", Liu Qiang was finally happy.

"Mom thinks the cake is really delicious too darling, you don’t have to tell me what you want, I’ll just gift you some dresses that I bought for you recently" Mo Li also added.

Mo Chou nodded, she didn’t really expect her cake to be such a hit that she would even get rewards, ’hehe, I can’t wait for everyone to taste it tomorrow, I wonder if they will be shocked too’.

Everyone, especially Liu Qiang and Liu Dai, were stuffed by the time they finished eating. Mo Chou left for her room after informing them about the time she would be leaving tomorrow. Mo Li told her to have fun but to inform them in case she was staying over at her friend’s house or something.

Neither Liu Dai nor Liu Qiang asked any questions as they just thought that it was a casual girls trip to the beach.

Mo Chou started packing a small bag after arriving in her room, it was just some essentials like sunscreen and goggles.

After she finished everything, she did her nightly routine and sat on the bed. Li Chen had sent her a lot of texts, all of them were basically regarding the trip and how excited she was.

Mo Chou patiently replied to all her texts and then checked on her other friends too. Lu Jinhai had already sent her a good night text for the night. ’Hmm, it’s a little early today’.

Mo Chou answered her friend’s text and saw that she had also gotten one from Reaper.

He just asked her if she was doing okay. Mo Chou answered him saying she was fine and also asked for his well-being. After she sent the text, Mo Chou laid down on the bed to sleep. She didn’t really expect an answer from Reaper right away so she decided to check on it tomorrow.

’Let’s get enough sleep, so I can spend the whole day without feeling tired tomorrow’.

Baobao sneaked into Mo Chou’s room in the middle of the night. It had a dead grasshopper in its mouth which it dropped on the bed. Then it settled beside Mo Chou and prepared to sleep.

’I hope she likes my gift’.

The next morning, Mo Chou woke up bright and early. "Haaa, I beat the alarm" she yawned.

She knew that she would not be able to fall asleep now that she had woken up. She was about to get off the bed when she spotted something horrifying, the evil specimen was on her bed sound asleep.

Mo Chou tried her best not to panic in case the evil kitten woke up and decided to ’attack’ her. She took a silent breath and used all of her agility to get off the bed and out of the room.

After she successfully exited the room, she decided to go get Mo Li’s help. She dragged the sleepy Mo Li out of her bed and asked her to help her with the ’problem’, Mo Chou’s excuse was that she didn’t want to inhale any cat fur as she didn’t want to have a runny nose for her trip.

Mo Li had no choice but to follow behind her, but when she opened the door to Mo Chou’s room, the kitten was nowhere to be found. Mo Li even searched the entire room, the bathroom and closet but little Baobao was nowhere to be found.

Mo Li did find the dead grasshopper on Mo Chou’s bed and said, "ohh, look, the kitty even gave you a gift. You really shouldn’t treat it so coldly you know".

"That dead grasshopper is a gift" Mo Chou was a little skeptical.

"Of course it is, do you expect the kitten to give you jewelry? Our house doesn’t even have rats so this is probably the only thing the kitten found. Poor Baobao, I’m going to play with him after I find him now, you should start getting ready".

Mo Li left the room leaving Mo Chou wondering if what she said was true. She decided to look it up on the internet and did find some posts, which mentioned that what Mo Li said was likely true apparently.

Mo Chou looked at the grasshopper and thought, ’hmm, cats are a little cute I guess’.

Mo Chou got ready and went to the dining room to have breakfast. This time she wasn’t that vigilant and wasn’t actively trying to avoid the kitten.

When she arrived at the dining room, the first thing she saw was a big bag beside Liu Dai. Liu Qiang and Liu Dai were actually glaring at each other like they were enemies.

"She’s here, now stop being so childish you two" Mo Li scolded them.

"Ahem, you are here, come look at this, dad got it for you. See if you like it" Liu Qiang said hurriedly waving at Mo Chou to come over.

She was confused for a second before she remembered that Liu Qiang had told her that he would give her pocket money today.

’That was quick’ Mo Chou hadn’t expected him to be so fast.

She approached his chair and saw a shiny card in his hand. Mo Chou was speechless looking at the blindingly reflective card in Liu Qiang’s hand, "Is_isn’t this a platinum card"?

"Yup, do you like it?" answered Liu Qiang proudly.

"I really don’t need access to so much money" Mo Chou said hurriedly, it was the legendary unlimited card, not only that only ten people in the whole country had this card. It was really too flashy for her to use it casually.

Liu Qiang’s happy expression instantly shattered.

"It’s fine dear, just keep it" Mo Li hurriedly came to the rescue. Mo Chou looked at her questioningly, Mo Li just winked and nodded.

Mo Chou finally understood after seeing Liu Qiang’s expectant expression, she accepted it and thanked him.

Seeing Liu Qiang look so happy and smug, Mo Chou couldn’t help but giggle, her father was really silly.

"Now, it’s my turn" Liu Dai announced and put the big bag which was lying beside him on the table. Mo Chou watched silently as he took out all sorts of cameras one by one. Each was shiny and looked expensive.

"You didn’t mention what kind of camera you wanted, so I got you some options, oh and you can use this one today for your trip" Liu Dai said and he took out a pink Polaroid camera.

"...." Mo Chou just silently accepted it, what else could she do anyway? He had already bought it, so she might as well use it.

She thanked him too and kept the cameras away so she could put them in her room after breakfast.

After the little session was finished, everyone had breakfast like usual. Liu Dai had to go to the company for some work matters even though it was the weekend so he took his leave.

Mo Li and Liu Qiang also went to their room after saying bye to Mo Chou.

Mo Chou took the cake, cookies and her small bag and entered her car. She gave her driver the address to Lu Jinhai’s house and sat inside looking at the scenery passing by, lost in thought.

The driver spoke all of a sudden "Umm, young miss, are you sure it’s here"?
