Chapter 36: Fiance

Mo Chou was shocked when she heard Liu Qiang’s words. Liu Dai’s fiance was going to be visiting soon and Liu Dai’s fiance was none other than the female protagonist herself. ’But it’s strange, wasn’t there still a lot of time left before the leads met for the first time?’ Mo Chou couldn’t help but wonder, ’Did I accidentally create a butterfly effect?’

Liu Qiang looked at his children’s shocked expressions and added, "An Daiyu has decided that she will continue her studies in Capital University with Mo Chou". He looked at Liu Dai and added, "Treat her nicely as she will be staying here for a while".

Liu Dai had a complicated look on his face. Aside from once when he was eleven, he had never interacted with this so-called fiance. Their marriage had been decided by their grandparents before they were even born. He didn’t know how to interact with An Daiyu nor did he have a deep impression of her.

After he finished talking, Liu Qiang dismissed them and they returned to their respective rooms. Mo Chou was in deep thought, the villainess knew that Liu Dai had a fiance but had never met her, she even looked down on An Daiyu as in her eyes An Daiyu was a poor orphan girl who had to be sponsored by them.

An Daiyu ’the original female lead’, had been orphaned when she lost her parents in a car accident at the age of thirteen. She didn’t have any other known living relatives but she had been engaged to Liu Dai before she was even born. When Liu Dai’s grandfather, who had arranged their marriage heard that she didn’t have anyone to look after her, he made Liu Qiang take her in and sponsor her.

An Daiyu’s living expenses, study expenses and pretty much everything else were provided to her by Liu Qiang. Since her studies were good, An Daiyu managed to get various scholarship offers and had gone abroad to study.

According to the original novel, An Daiyu was supposed to continue her studies abroad at a top university. Mo Chou wondered why she had decided to return and study at Capital University as although Capital University was one of the top universities, it was still a little inferior to An Daiyu’s University.

Mo Chou also wondered why An Daiyu had decided to stay with them as Liu Qiang had offered her a room in their mansion before, but she had rejected him and decided to stay in the dormitory of her school. In the novel, it was written that the female lead didn’t want to stay with Liu Qiang and his family as she felt like she already owned them too much. It was also the reason why she had worked so hard to get scholarships.

According to the novel, An Daiyu didn’t want the engagement with Liu Dai at first but had agreed to it after meeting him and falling in love with him.

’Ahhh, My brain is hurting from all this thinking. Anyway, I am not the villainess who will pick on her for no reason and court death. I can just maintain a civil relationship with her, so I just need to relax and mind my own business.’

Mo Chou just changed into her pajamas and lay down on her bed. She was about to take a look at her chats but she was exhausted due to her earlier workout and couldn’t help but fall asleep.

The next two days went by as usual. Mo Chou wore her normal comfy clothes which made Lu Jinhai sigh in relief. Other than Lu Jinhai being a little sulky because Mo Chou hadn’t replied to his good night texts, everything went normally.

On Friday, It was finally the day of An Daiyu’s arrival. Mo Chou went to the university as usual but returned home after attending only two classes. Liu Qiang had said the day before yesterday that he wanted everyone to be there when An Daiyu arrived.

Liu Qiang was still on ’vacation’ so he naturally stayed at home but Liu Dai and Mo Chou felt that it would be boring just staying at home and waiting for the guest, so they went to work and University respectively but promised him that they would be there on time.

When Li Chen and Huang Chunhua heard that Mo Chou had to go home early, they asked her why. Mo Chou just said that there was a guest arriving at home. Lu Jinhai was also listening but he didn’t say anything but before Mo Chou entered her car to go home, he said, "Is the guest a male or a female "?

Mo Chou was surprised as to why he would need to know that but still answered, "female". Before she could ask anything, Lu Jinhai said, "okay goodbye then, don’t forget to text me" and walked away. Mo Chou entered her car with a puzzled expression on her face.

After she arrived home, she changed her clothes and freshened up before going to the living room where everyone had gathered already. Mo Li saw her and said, "Oh you’re right on time, she’ll be here in about fifteen minutes" looking at her watch.

A little while later, they heard the sound of the car arriving. Everyone stood up and headed to the door to welcome the guest. Mo Chou was actually a little excited. This was the female protagonist after all, her looks, figure and everything were supposed to be a feast for the eyes and plus she could watch the male and female leads meeting for the first time in person with her own eyes, wasn’t it every reader’s fantasy.

The car that Liu Qiang had sent to pick up An Daiyu rolled up to the front of the house and the car door opened. A slender foot enclosed in high heels stepped out and Mo Chou watched in amazement as An Daiyu got out of the car and walked towards them as if she was walking on a red carpet.

’Sigh, she really is beautiful’, thought Mo Chou.

An Daiyu was wearing a beautiful pure white dress with the same colored heels. She was probably a little shorter than Mo Chou but they looked like the same height when she wore heels. She was carrying a branded bag and looked stylish but pure.

An Daiyu arrived in front of them and gave a sweet smile. She greeted them and Mo Li smiled happily and took her inside the house by holding her hand.

Mo Chou was closely observing An Daiyu’s face as she wanted to examine the details of the female lead’s legendary face but she frowned when she saw a slight disdain on An Daiyu’s face when Mo Li held her hand. It was very quick and An Daiyu covered it up with a smile but Mo Chou immediately became wary of her. No one else had noticed anything unusual and entered the house with An Daiyu.

Liu Dai looked at Mo Chou who hadn’t followed them and whispered, "you ok"?

Mo Chou hurriedly nodded and walked into the house. Everyone sat on the sofas in the living room. An Daiyu was talking to Liu Qiang regarding her studies and other things. She would intimately call him dad while talking which made Liu Qiang a little uncomfortable. They weren’t really close to each other and had only interacted a few times. It was Liu Qiang’s secretary who arranged everything for An Daiyu.

An Daiyu seemed like an innocent and bright girl but Mo Chou felt that it wasn’t as it seemed, Mo Li tried talking to An Daiyu but her replies were short plus she changed the subject and talked to Liu Qiang instead.

Although it all seemed normal, Mo Chou knew that An Daiyu was doing it on purpose and felt her anger rising. She had really thought that this so-called female lead would at least be a decent person but An Daiyu turned out to be a hypocritical snob. Liu Qiang didn’t notice anything wrong with An Daiyu and even Mo Li thought that she was alright.

Aside from Mo Chou, only Liu Dai felt that there was someone wrong with this fiance of his. He was naturally a very sharp person and quickly noticed that An Daiyu was subtly ignoring Mo Li while acting cute and intimate with Liu Qiang. He was obviously displeased with her behavior but couldn’t say anything rude right away.

Liu Dai decided that he would warn his parents and sister so that they won’t be deceived by An Daiyu’s innocent facade.

Since it was lunch time, Mo Li had ordered the chef to prepare good food. After talking for a while, everyone headed to the dining room. When everyone was taking seats, An Daiyu hurriedly sat in between Mo Chou and Liu Dai which made Liu Dai frown. He and Mo Chou usually sat together opposite of their parents and he didn’t want to sit beside An Daiyu.

Mo Chou didn’t mind as it was just a seat and sat down next to Mo Li instead. At first, An Daiyu ate quietly but as she heard everyone talking to each other while eating, she also joined in. Liu Dai was asking Mo Chou about how her studies were going when An Daiyu hurriedly interrupted them and started talking to Liu Dai, shifting the conversation towards herself. She talked about her studies abroad and completely ignored Mo Chou.

At this point Liu Qiang and Mo Li also noticed this and frowned, An Daiyu looked at their expressions and hurriedly said, "oh look at me, I got so excited that I forgot about Mo Chou. How are you doing Mo Chou?"

Mo Chou didn’t want to talk to this hypocritical person at all and said dryly, "It’s okay" and started eating. An Daiyu looked like she was embarrassed and wronged. "Ahh, I won’t disturb your meal then" she said in a small voice.

Mo Chou couldn’t stand her acting and decided to excuse herself. She said that she was a little tired and wanted to rest. Liu Dai frowned and wanted to ask her to stay but stopped. ’I need to do something about this ’fiance’ of mine’.
