Chapter 23: Rabbits and trouble

Mo Chou and her friends had a lot to talk about and didn’t want to return to their classes after the break, so they decided that they would sacrifice their classes for the day to hang out together.

Li Chen wanted to visit the new mall near the University as they had everything including a spa and saunas. Lu Jinhai was about to follow them to the mall when he got a call and had to leave. Huang Chunhua sighed in relief as even though Lu Jinhai didn’t speak the whole time, it still made others nervous for some reason.

They decided to walk to the mall as it was pretty nearby. Mo Chou didn’t want the bodyguards to follow her as she was more than capable of taking care of her safety so they used a different exit.

As soon as they exited the University, Mo Chou noticed someone lurking in a hidden corner. She discreetly took a glance, it was a shady looking guy.

Mo Chou thought ’it doesn’t look like someone from our university’. She acted normal and continued her conversation with Li Chen and Huang Chunhua.

After they had walked quite a distance from the University, Mo Chou noted that the guy was still following them from afar. She wanted to see what tricks he had up his sleeve, so she didn’t confront him.

After they reached the mall, Huang Chunhua wanted to go to the gift shop in order to buy a thank you gift for Mo Chou.

Li Chen and Huang Chunhua were both actually from well off families, so they could afford to spend money on gifts. Mo Chou also wanted to get something for her parents and agreed.

They entered the shop and started browsing around. The shady guy actually didn’t follow them and remained outside the whole time. Mo Chou selected a necklace which she felt would suit her mother and a classy looking pen for Liu Qiang. She also bought a pair of cuff-links for Liu Dai.

Mo Chou hadn’t planned on buying anything for Liu Dai but when she saw the cuff-links, they reminded her of him so she bought them on a whim. The shop assistant saw that she was buying such expensive items one by one and enthusiastically started introducing the latest arrivals.

As Li Chen and Huang Chunhua were busy planning on what to buy for her, Mo Chou went along with the shop assistant and browsed around.

After looking around for a while, Mo Chou started feeling thirsty so she looked around and saw that there was actually a milk tea shop right opposite. She informed her friends that she was going to buy drinks for them and if they had any preferences.

Both Li Chen and Huang Chunhua just asked her to surprise them. Mo Chou agreed and walked out of the shop after paying for her things.

She was almost at the milk tea shop and was thinking about the drinks she should get when someone stumbled and was about to crash into her. Mo Chou nimbly dodged the person avoiding the drink which was about to be dumped on her dress. It was actually the sneaky guy who had followed them to the mall.

He failed to touch her but fell to the floor and some of the drink got splashed into the corner of her dress. He seemed to be in shock for a moment but then started to wail loudly and knowtow to Mo Chou.

Mo Chou just looked at him as if he was a clown and didn’t say anything. The guy put on a one man act for a few minutes and when he saw that people had gathered around to watch the commotion, he said,"please spare me miss, I am poor and can’t afford to compensate you".

Mo Chou didn’t say a word but the man put on a grand show and cried about how she had bumped into him but demanded that he compensate her. He went on and on about how he was poor and could barely afford a hundred dollars let alone a million.

When the crowd heard the sum, they were shocked and looked at Mo Chou’s dress. The dress did look nice but there wasn’t any brand logo on it so they automatically labelled her as a hypocrite. They started whispering and some even took out their phones to film the drama.

Mo Chou felt like it would be a waste of time to try telling everyone the truth as they had already formed their opinions, so she just said coldly "are you done"?

She looked at the guy in disdain and casually said "Even five million dollars cannot buy the sleeves of this dress". After saying that, she turned around and entered the milk tea shop.

The guy looked stumped and the surrounding crowd also felt disappointed as they did not get the show they had anticipated. Everyone slowly left and only the guy was left on the floor. He sneered and said,"let’s see how much longer you can be arrogant". He stood up and just left looking satisfied.

Mo Chou got all the drinks and returned to the gift shop. Li Chen and Huang Chunhua were completely oblivious to the drama that happened outside and were just paying for the things that they bought. They happily took the drinks after thanking Mo Chou.

They didn’t want to buy anything else, so they headed to the sauna plus spa. They spent around three hours there just enjoying the whole experience. Mo Chou felt that being reincarnated was actually a nice thing. She was an orphan before and could not even make any genuine friends because of the nature of her work so she cherished all the new things and felt that it was a blessing.

When it was about time for the classes to end, they returned to the university and parted ways. Li Chen and Huang Chunhua gave their thank you gifts but made her promise to only open them after returning home. Mo Chou agreed and went home with her bodyguards.

After arriving at home though, Mo Chou felt a little lonely as there were no one but the workers at home. She headed to her room and opened each gift. Both of them had included a cute note with their gifts. Huang Chunhua had given her a pair of earrings with rabbits on them. They were actually really cute and had red rubies for eyes.

Li Chen had gotten her a key-chain which also had a rabbit on it. Mo Chou didn’t know why her friends were obsessed with rabbits but still liked the gifts very much. She even took photos and posted it online.

She hadn’t gotten many texts from Mo Li that day as she had gone to attend a charity function, so she just wished her good night and headed to bed ignorant to the fact that a post about her had blown up online. (’♧’)
