Chapter 21: Mysterious stranger

Mo Chou opened her eyes only to be blinded by white light. ’Am I in heaven’? thought Mo Chou ’damn, I was pretty sure I was going to end up in hell’. Her eyes slowly got adjusted to the light and she observed her surroundings.

She was actually in a hospital room. She then recalled everything and started panicking. She didn’t care about her injuries and hurriedly got off the hospital bed. She wanted to rush out of the room but she felt slightly dizzy after moving. She cursed her weak body and slowly stepped outside. She approached the first person she saw, which was a nurse. The nurse recognised her and asked her if she was alright.

Mo Chou ignored her question and just asked her if she had seen a small kid who was with her. The nurse seemed to understand and led her to the hospital director who then handed her a note.

Mo Chou accepted the note even though she was quite confused. She opened the note and started reading. The note said that the little kid had been sent home safely and not to get into too much trouble. Mo Chou was relieved first but then wanted to laugh. The handwriting on the note was unfamiliar but the note still gave her a familiar vibe. She also subconsciously believed that Jin Hua had been sent home because she herself was unharmed.

As to the person who helped her, she would figure out their identity after going home.

The most urgent thing to do was to get rid of the disguise she was in. Mo Chou didn’t want to interact with anyone so she took the elevator to the underground parking lot. She took care to hide her face from the cameras.

She reached the parking lot and was thinking about the next step when she saw a small locked room. She took a pin from under her wig and pried the lock open. The room must have belonged to one of the security guards of the hospital and Mo Chou was pleasantly surprised to find a mirror and even a change of clothes. She altered her makeup the best she could and changed out of her clothes. She found a hat and put it on. Since she didn’t want to leave anything behind she found a bag and carried everything.

She walked out of the hospital and walked for about ten minutes. Then she fished out her phone from where she had hidden it and called a cab. The cab arrived quickly and she instructed the driver to drop her off somewhere near Cui Jun’s apartment.

In order to be extra careful, she could only sneakily walk back to her car. She had carefully hidden the phone and car keys on her body. She quickly got into the car and started removing all the makeup and clothes and changed back to her original self.

In order to hide the forehead injury, Mo Chou had no choice but to cut her bangs. Fortunately they actually really suited her. Mo Chou silently thanked Mo Li for her good genes.

Mo Chou had left early in the morning so even though it felt like ages, it was only around ten o’clock. She knew she was a little late and hoped that Liu Dai had not returned home in order to avoid unnecessary trouble.

When Mo Chou reached home, she saw that butler Xue was standing by the door waiting for someone. When she exited the car with her bags, butler Xue heaved a sigh of relief and hurriedly asked her if she had dinner.

Mo Chou was indeed starving, so she just asked him to send dinner to her room. "Is the young master home"?

" Not yet miss".replied Butler Xue. Mo Chou relaxed and headed to her room. Butler Xue had actually been contemplating if he should inform Liu Dai that Mo Chou hadn’t returned from her outing but seeing that she seemed fine, he could finally relax. If something happened to her then he would probably be punished by Liu Qiang for his negligence.

Mo Chou first took a shower. She had to be mindful of her stitches which she found to be a hassle. She then had her dinner. She was so tired that she just wanted to sleep right away but she still checked on the mission status. The mission had actually been automatically updated to complete and she had already been paid.

This confirmed that Jin Hua had safely reached home. Mo Chou was also curious about the person who had helped her but when she tried to watch the CCTV footage of the hospital, it had actually already been removed. Even the footage of the place where she had been hit had all been removed.

’Oh well’ thought Mo Chou.’ Since he/she doesn’t want their identity to be revealed, I won’t poke around’. Mo Chou was just thankful and hoped that she would be able to return the favour one day.

Mo Chou had also gotten a few texts on her personal phone. She replied to the texts one by one. Mo Li had sent her cute stickers of a bunny crying which Mo Chou thought was adorable.

She also noticed that she had gotten a good night text the day before from Lu Jinhai but had missed it.

She replied to the text with a sleeping sticker.

Mo Chou kind of missed her two friends from university and decided that she would return to university after taking a day of rest as a reward for herself.

She put her phone on silent and fell asleep right after her head hit the pillow.

Mo Chou woke up when she heard a knock on her door. She looked at the clock on her bedside table to see that it was already eleven o’clock in the morning. She opened the door and was informed by the maid that Liu Dai was waiting for her to have breakfast.

Mo Chou was surprised as Liu Dai was always busy and hadn’t bothered with her before plus it was already late. She wondered why he didn’t already have breakfast at this time. Instead of thinking too much, she just cleaned herself up and went to the dining room.

Liu Dai had actually been waiting for her to have breakfast together since early in the morning but she didn’t request breakfast or get any food and since he couldn’t delay heading to work anymore, he decided to send someone to call her over.

Mo Chou reached the dining table and sat in a random seat. She saw Liu Dai frown but didn’t know what she had done to upset him.

Liu Dai was actually just frustrated that Mo Chou choose a seat furthest away from him. He thought of his non existent sibling relationship with her and reminded himself to interact with her more.

Mo Chou started to pile her plate with food as she was really hungry. Just as she had taken a bite, She heard Liu Dai ask "How have you been lately "? She replied that she was doing great.

When Liu Dai saw her speaking with her cheeks stuffed like a chipmunk, he thought ’so little sisters can be quite cute too huh’.

On the other hand, Mo Chou saw that Liu Dai was quiet so she tried to finish her food quickly so that Liu Dai wouldn’t have to force himself to talk to her. She actually thought that Liu Qiang had forced Liu Dai to talk to her.

Liu Dai was actually thinking of a topic for conversation but he couldn’t think of anything. He saw that Mo Chou had actually already finished all the food on her plate and was about to leave, so he took out his wallet and gave her a bank card. "This is your allowance for the week".

Mo Chou was stunned but gladly accepted the card as it was money after all. Liu Qiang had always given her allowance and she thought that this was probably from him too. She bade farewell to Liu Dai and happily skipped away.

Liu Dai watched her cheerful self and patted himself on his back for the smart move not knowing that Mo Chou had mistaken his private card for his dad’s. (*♤*)
